IDG World Expo has announced that registration for Macworld San Francisco 2009 (MWSF) has opened for attendees.

Macworld San Francisco is an annual Apple-focused expo taking place between January 5th-9th, 2009 and at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. Early/discounted registration is available until December 1st.

While no announcements have been made, Steve Jobs traditionally gives the opening Keynote address which will likely take place on the morning of Tuesday, January 6th. MacRumors will be at the expo to provide keynote and ongoing coverage of the event.

At the last Macworld expo, Apple introduced the MacBook Air, iTunes Movie Rentals, iPod Touch Software Update and iPhone Software Update and SDK announcement, and Time Capsule. We'd previously heard that Apple is preparing for Cinema Display updates at this year's Macworld. Other hints have suggested that this year's MWSF will be a more Mac-focused event.

I hope they announce more Shuffle colors at MacWorld, and maybe get crazy by offering iPhone 2.2 firmware.

Mac mini

Please update the Mac mini or replace it with something similar, i.e. costs under 1000$ (or ideally a lot less than that), and screen-less.

Beware of predictions this far off. With nearly four months to go, almost anything could happen between now and then.

Quick note: no more keynote mega-lineups

you'll see this when you go to register. any pass less than a platinum pass will be sent to the overflow theaters by default. even if you get the platinum pass, it's subject to availability, so you still have to line up and STILL may not get in.

I assume this is due to so many new press passes being given out alongside the guaranteed VIPs, but the era of "stand in line overnight and hope for a seat" seems to have been forcibly retired now.

🙁

edit: plus, IDGExpo may have been getting tired of paying for the extra security to a line that wrapped all the way around the convention center.

Whoa.. that's quick!
Just had "Let's Rock" event, and we've hardly had the time to wait for October 14th! 😱

So, as usual.. all rumours which won't be proven true for coming event, will be passed onto MWSF '09 😉

But, I am looking forward to new displays!! I have my sweet 23" Cinema HD Display for over two years now, and it's starting to get old.
Anyone with me for a 26" 1920 x 1200 glossy?

It looks like only the Platinum Pass holders can watch the Stevenote in the main presentation room, others are limited to the overflow rooms.

MAC PRO BUMPS! - 3.2 up to 3.3!!
Macbook Air - Now with more air.
MacMini - stays the same.
iPhone - colored backs.

Seems forever since Apple did anything serious with their computers.
I've lost faith.
*burns my black mock turtleneck*

I would hope Apple does not wait until MWSF to announce new iMacs, MacBooks, MacBook Pros and Mac Minis.

Though I do hope Apple will announce the new Core i7-based Mac Pro then.

MAC PRO BUMPS! - 3.2 up to 3.3!

That would be 3.4GHz and Intel just announced it, so we might see it offered on the Mac Pro's as a stealth upgrade in the near future (though each one is $214 more then the 3.2GHz unit so expect $400-500 for the pair).

Mac tablet?
Mac software: iLife and iWork?
MacBook (Pro) redesigns??
iMac update??
Nehalem Mac Pros?
Mac mini update/redesign?
Multi-touch Mighty Mouse for Macs?
Multi-touch displays for Macs?
Mac OS X Snow Leopard preview?
Blu-ray support for Mac OS X 10.5.6 (although Kevin Rose later pulled that prediction)?

I suppose the mini-tablet would be more like an iDevice than a Mac, although things like split screen, iLife, and iWork that I'm hoping make it a bit more Mac-like. And generally Macworld is for new Macs, rather than updated Macs (or redesigned ones since 2003 besides the Intel revamp), which makes a tablet more likely.

Beware of predictions this far off. With nearly four months to go, almost anything could happen between now and then.
That's true, but some long-ranging predictions have come true.

YOWZA! My crystal ball was off!

Good to know they are making large strides.
It looks like computer technology is settling into a plateau and Apple in particular is working on their more mobile devices. Didn't SJ say they would divert attention for the next 3 years into the iPhone? It doesn;t bother me - my MacPro won't go out of use as fast.

Wishes & Dreams

My wish list entails simply a A/V Satin Black casing for the AppleTV. Everything on my entertainment stand is standard A/V Black... I just can't bring myself to place a shiny white box on the same stand. Also, if the box is changed than black cables to match. Not white!!!!

new iphone design with 32gb or 64gb capacity "just 199.99$" with subsity that no current 3g customer will be elidgable for...however for 200$ more....
"4 times bigger, same 'ol price"

Here's my own prediction

Quad-Core and SuperDrive across the board (no more ComboDrives):
- Quad-Core iMacs (with GPU, RAM, HD bumps, same casing)
- Quad-Core Mac minis (dedicated GPU, RAM and HD bump, new :apple:TV/Time Capsule form factor for 3.5" HD, aluminium casing)
- Quad-Core MacBooks (with GPU, RAM, HD bumps, new aluminium casing)
- Quad-Core MacBook Pros (with GPU, RAM, HD bumps, new magnesium casing)
- Mac Pros, whatever is the best intel CPU available, possible case refresh, still aluminium, still no Blu-Ray but now comes with two SuperDrives. 😉

I predict that at MWSF 2009 Apple will announce the first revision of whatever they announce in October!

My personal interest is in the next line of Mac Pros, and I don't want to wait until January.
