Damn it. I just bought iWork only recently. Too bad Apple does not offer any upgrade versions. But who knows, perhaps iWork 09 isn't even worth it.

Any Apple purchases just before MWSF are ill-advised.
And you KNOW they'll at least make you think it is well worth it.
It's what Apple does.

MacBook Wheel anyone? ;)

Please be iWork '08 plus a new app, and not all this web based stuff we've been hearing about.

There would surely be a app as well.. i'm assuming the web based program will have a lot less functionality, besides not everyone working on an iWork document will be connected to the internet.

iLife '09 hasn't been released and it's already the #5 top download? I didn't think you could download iLife in the first place.
iLife is like 9gb in size so i doubt you will ever be able to download it

So if you can download iWork 09, wouldn't you think that it will at least have a stand-alone desktop component?

I would hope so.. otherwise that's a major flaw!

IWork '09 is most likely IWork '08 with minor tweaks + web interface much like google docs but within the "me" environment. What I am saying is that we are looking at multiple account types for "me.com".

That's my guess.

do you think that means people with me accounts will have that web based functionality? or would you have to purchase the software first? in the first case i would be great to have the web based program for editing on the go an an option to download the program so you can edit for offline use. (but i'm living in a dream world!)

I've been hoping for iWork update. They need to make it more compatible with the latest MS Office then I can use it to do my homework which I can then safely edit in school. A web version would help even more so I could then edit using the web version when in school.

It's weird I'm excited about an office suite :D

It would be wonderful if they mentioned Jobs during the keynote, and allowed everyone to give him the standing ovation he deserves.

Music ability in Keynote

The best news to me would be that in Keynote '09 you can add music in the middle of your keynote that would play for more than just one slide. Powerpoint has done this forever. Professional presenters often need to introduce a selection of audio in the middle of a presentation and have it play for multiple slide transitions. Pleeeeeeese!!!!

Today feels better than christmas to me and nothing has happened yet, I hope it isn't a let down.

I hope this is true, because there are a few things that I really need before I can completely give up on Office:

Keynote
1. Anchored connecters like in Powerpoint

2. More flexible drawing controls (just a simple pencil tool would be nice). And please, stop with the default shapes. Just give me the tool so I can draw the shape however I want to instead of having a square/text box/etc. appearing in the middle of the slide!

3. More than one appear/disappear animation for a single object.

Numbers
Error bars. 'nuff said.

Now the real Christmas starts!

And so it begins...

Fingers crossed that dad has a Tablet for me this time under the tree.

One can still hope ;)

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

Only a couple hours more. Impatiently waiting!

Hahaha I'm feeling exactly the same. I've been staring at the Apple Store until it closed down, and my bank account balance, and MacRumors and it feels like I'm waiting to open the first present.

Do you want to know what makes me so bad. I'm not even planning on buying anything. Unless Snow Leopard comes out though might buy iWork 09.

well - the iphone keynote was a ride - at least for me :)

i think this has a potential to be something quite big - if apple is strategically aware - having a keynote with "super stuff" without steve - will decrease attention on him as the "saviour"/jesus of Mac etc.

btw - my wishlist 1) iphone nano - because they have to diversify and to meet the demand for a smaller footprinte iphone.

that is it :D

updates of course - but if apple is loyal to the tradition we will not get a 10" subnote laptop, HDTV with built in TV/media center (well actually this should be realistic since the target group is huge...well anyhow. bring on the iphone nano :D

lol. Don't get your hopes up. They never are as good as you're hoping

Well I bought my MacBook over 2 years ago, and even though my iPhone 3g is new enough, it's about time for a new laptop before I head back to school on Saturday hehe.

I think I may have had inadvertent confirmation of an iPhone update or new product. O2 have had their systems down for 'an update' all day. Any idea if AT&T are in the same boat?
