Nope. They would just have been rehearsing the keynote.

it was very likely a standard cue-tech. I worked as a stage manager for a while and we did this all the time.

basically it's a walk through all the technical stuff to make sure that all the lights work, sound equipment is set up correctly, etc. and plus a walk through so that everyone knows the plan.

Am I the only one that thinks Macworld will still do fine for years to come?

with adobe dropping also, I won't give it years. maybe a couple more but not years and years.

I was fairly certain it was THE place for 3rd parties to show off their mac stuff.

Im sure it will be around for years, though maybe at a different venue seeing as certain companies arent footing the bill anymore.

I would love to see this happen (sadly it never will).

Phil finishes the keynote, walks off stage, and suddenly all the lights in the auditorium go out. The crowd is puzzled as to what is going on, then a voice says "But there is One More Thing...". One spotlight slowly fades onto Steve standing in the middle of the stage. The crowd then goes ******* and Steve announces some awesome new product.

I can dream, right?

you are almost correct.

the lights go out, the voice gives the line and then a spotlight slowly comes up and we see

the 'iSteve'

as we look at the realistic robot Steve complete with jeans and black turtleneck, the voice explains that while the rumors were false right now, Apple wants to make sure that the company will always have Steve to lead them. And so, secret government labs have discovered a way to back up Steve's brain into the machine who has been programmed with the latest in artificial intelligence software so he can even think like Steve. iSteve updates daily via the exclusive 802.11z protocol, generally only allowed for military use but licensed to Apple to prevent the end of the world when Steve finally kicks it.

And coming soon will be the iSteve Nano. the 10 inch tall model is loaded with Steve's favorite catchphrases like "mere mortals" "unbelievable" "huge" "wouldn't it be great" and "pretty cool, huh?". oh and one more thing, the iSteve Nano comes with its own water bottle and apple remote. so now everyone can have a little Steve in their daily lives.

the underlined had me ROFL.

It might hint at something...

Try to look at this... (from TheAppleLounge)

Can you see SOMETHING THERE in the silhouette of the covered sign?

Looks like a slider keyboard to me... (but maybe it's just folded into half so..)

WE MIGHT SEE SOMETHING SQUARISH (not spongebob :p) and WHITE (not soap, don't worry) in MWSF '09!

What are your takes?

how the hell can you see 'something there'? the only letter i can make out is an "M".

Hardware? Are you serious? That's 20th century thinking. A robotic iSteve makes about as much sense as Blu-Ray; after a while, it'll be too limiting. Here's my vision:

Phil finishes his spiel, then goes, "Oh, and-- well, wait. Perhaps the person who should say the next phrase should be the one who perfected it." The lights dim, and the screen turns on.

We hear a synthesized Jobsian voice say "One other thing..."

A 3D, texturized version of Jobs appears on screen. "... I'm back. Thanks to our wonderful software engineers and the creative minds at Disney*PIXAR, I'll lead Apple for now and for the foreseeable future. Let me show you my full virtual representation..."

He hits the Enter button on his virtual Apple Remote. Suddenly, the background turns into several neon parallel lines, vaguely resembling the inside of a slowly swirling cube.
"Hi, I'm St-St-Steve Headroom."

:D

^^ At that resolution, I don't even see an M. The horizontal line looks like a texture/shadow from a inner fold, not a show through. Is that even the keynote stage? It looks so small.

I know know the reason why we have no elevator shots this year!

This was secretly photographed while in testing:

its the iElevator!

Now you can record all upcoming apple products (yes, thats you untrustworthy employee!) in a blank white elevator.

I apologize. Its 9 pm here (4 hours 30 minutes till the start of the keynote) and im sick of all the ridiculous speculation. Just wait now! Go stock up on your caffeine supplies for when Phil's Keynote gets boring...
