Wait a second, don't these banners look familiar? Obviously every macworld has covered banners but look at the shape of them- long and panoramic? Ring any bells? These are snow leopard banners, they must be introducing all of the new features. The the leopard and tiger banners were strikingly similar in shape- with all of the new icons and features. An iPhone/Mac banner would be a much different dimension, much more squarish.

I would love to see this happen (sadly it never will).

Phil finishes the keynote, walks off stage, and suddenly all the lights in the auditorium go out. The crowd is puzzled as to what is going on, then a voice says "But there is One More Thing...". One spotlight slowly fades onto Steve standing in the middle of the stage. The crowd then goes ******* and Steve announces some awesome new product.

I can dream, right?

actually i was thinking about that too and how id crap my pants if that happened.

Any actual MacTablet has no chance of running full OS X. No chance, whatsoever. Its iPhone OS all the way. If you have any doubt, your not paying attention to :apple:

I think it would be kinda a hybrid ish version.
Cause whats the point of having a nice big tablet that does the same thing as an itouch? Its not going to be full os x, cause the ui wont allow it, but something strikingly simaler to retail os x, but with modified windows, icons, input methods etc..

What is the word on 10.6 these days?
Is it being announced at MacWorld, perhaps, being released in Q1, or later?

What is the thought on MacWorld?

• new iPhone revision?
• new iMacs?
• new Mini?
• new OS?
• new Laptop?

I suspect what is announced will pinpoint Steve Jobs' health: if something big like the tablet is announced (not released yet) and he isn't there it means he is in very bad shape. If nothing big is released he might actually still have years in him.

An iPhone/Mac banner would be a much different dimension, much more squarish.

I AGREE!
It is obvious banners are dictated by the product, not by the space accommodating them. So this must be another announcement for Leopard. AGAIN! [/sarcasm]

My guess is that Al Gore, representing the Apple Board, will be announcing Steve's departure from Apple for personal reasons. Steve will remain in a limited role as Chairman of the Board until a new team is chosen to run Apple.

It may be the last Macworld, but I'm predicting that it will be a dramatic and emotional one.

I'm a Steve Jobs supporter and I pray that I'm wrong.

While I really have no opinion regarding the banner size issue, I think it is just a matter of standardized sizes that fit the location and anything beyond that is reading too much into it.

To illustrate this, compare the folded white banner at the entrance of Moscone center to the Macbook Air teaser from last years MW from the same spot:

Ya but the outside window banners are different. we are talking about the inside banners in the hall.

omg

who the hell cares who that guy is in the screen, none of them are important enough to give two SH*Ts about. Just wrap it up I need to buy a new imac for my grandparents because I hate when they complain about how it freezes all the time .

Not too far away from a purely digital Steve.

Did anyone else notice Laurence Olivier has racked up an additional 25 credits since his death in 1989? It's not too late to do a motion captured, pure digital rendering of Steve Jobs...

This would be good - I've never seen Gates at a loss for words before....

I'm running Windows 7 on my laptop, desktop and netbook - are you running 10.6 today?

'nuff said.

someones joke detector is broken or someone is a little pissy tonight.

I hope its option 1.

Or, I am running Windows 7 on this quad core mini tower that smokes your Mac Pro and costs a third as much. Also on this quad core 17" laptop, as well as this 11.1" notebook that is lighter than the MBA and still has a Blu-Ray drive and TWO SSDs, two USB ports, and an HDMI port.

Skunk caught that both parts of my post were in jest - so, yes - someone's joke detector is broken.

And, by the way, Central Computers had a holiday special - P6T mobo and Core i7 920 for $500. I almost decided to swap my P5E/Q6600 and make Skunk's mini-tower statement true.... ;) Decided to wait for the i7 940 to drop in price though.

BTW - the P6T is awesome. 24 GiB RAM support, 4 PCIe slots, 2 PCI slots, dual and quad SLI, CrossFire, dual GbE, 7.1 audio (coax and optical out), 14 USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, onboard SAS (gimme those 15K drive!),...

How much RAM will the new Mini support? :p

I snapped this picture of a banner advertising next year's MWSF expo as I was leaving the conference registration areas tonight. Looks like they've already got their slogan for the 2010 Macworld prepared: "The Start of a New Era".

Obviously, they're trying to proactively address Apple pulling out of the show. Let's hope IDG handles it better this time than they did with the east coast show. :)

so question. if the expo starts monday (or at least i think it does), why is the keynote on tuesday?

feel free to correct me if im wrong about the dates.

Am I the only one that thinks Macworld will still do fine for years to come?

Sure the attendance is going to take a hit for a few years, but it is the largest MAC trade show kind of event of its kind and you know us fanboys:p.

Less important? yes. Completely die off, I dont see that happening, not yet anyway.

The conference sessions start tomorrow (Monday) and continue all week. The expo show floor opens Tuesday after the Keynote. Everything ends Friday.
