Oh you have a lot to see yet in wierd sitting positions....no, its just the nature of how you use the product. If you're not within the view of the camera while using an iMac or MacBook there is something seriously wrong.

It would be great if Apple allowed third parties to integrate TouchID into their keyboards - Logitech MX Master keyboard with TouchID would be perfect!Agreed. I stick to Apple keyboards but Logitech MX Master are great and made me enjoy using a mouse again.
But “lightning” is just the connector. And it seems to be clever enough to work with usb3 and usb-c.Apple's pretty clearly moving to USBC for *host* devices -- *client* devices seem to be staying with Lightning.

So it shouldn’t bother you if our needs are met?Lots of us keep the laptop keyboard backlight off....

Why not buy the full size version with the number pad then?I like the keyboard but I want an actual full size board with number pad so I can actually, you know, do some work
I STILL can’t believe they went with this instead of just adding Face ID.
They’re not even backlit Apple!
And tic tac boards are not true touch type keyboards. The keys are too small, the movement is too small etc. Having backlight which costs practically nothing helpsFor me, it’s more about finding the volume or mute keys than my typing.
My feedback is my wallet. I don’t need a link for something like that but thanks anyways.I really don't care one way or the other. Here's Apple's feedback site, knock yourself out: https://www.apple.com/feedback/
Perhaps you didn't understand my post or you confused it with another in your reply.
I responded to your denial of @cmaier's statement that "the light from the keyboard ... distracts from the light on the display". Maybe it's not a distraction for you, but that doesn't mean it isn't for others.
Yes.Is that a button or just a touch sensor? Confusing design.
It's mandatory to lock computers when not at desk at a lot of companies. My password is way longer than 6 characters, absolutely hated typing it 10-20 times a day. Plus every time I had to autofill something from keychain. For me the touchid keyboard was the absolute high point of the event, by a huge margin.

If the person's computer is a work computer it may have a corporate password policy forcing a long multi-word password.why would your login password need to be so long? Not seeing the reason for that. Windows even lets you use a simple pin to unlock your pc nowadays.
Folks have seemed to manage okay with the combination button/touch-sensor on Macbook keyboards the past few years. Same for several generations of iphones. Is that a button or just a touch sensor? Confusing design.
No backlight no sale
For unlocking your screen? OUch.If the person's computer is a work computer it may have a corporate password policy forcing a long multi-word password.
Since a large percentage of Mac users also own an iPhone, I think it would make a lot of sense to have a software solution where you can use touchid or faceID on your iPhone instead.
As many have said, why can Apple not add a backlit keys feature!?!?!? I'm using a second-generation wireless keyboard, and I'm leaning more and more towards the Logitech MX Keys as they offer all this and more.
The new Apple keyboard with the touch ID would have been a no brainer for me on my M1 MBP, but what the heck Apple!?!?!?!?!?
Also, what the heck is it with the super un-ergonomic Apple mouse? It's horrific to use (IMHO). As somebody who suffers from carpal tunnel, it's ridiculous they cannot build a decent ergonomic mouse. Again, I've reverted to a Logitech MX Master mouse which offers way more functionality.
Lagging Apple. Lagging.
Yup.For unlocking your screen? OUch.
It’s common that businesses mandate password rules for their employees, that included length. It’s just good security to enforce password rules and minimum lengths, often 8 characters or more.why would your login password need to be so long? Not seeing the reason for that. Windows even lets you use a simple pin to unlock your pc nowadays.
The company had to have ISO certifications which includes a password policy so we could work for clients like banks and certain government entities.why would your login password need to be so long? Not seeing the reason for that. Windows even lets you use a simple pin to unlock your pc nowadays.
