Not true. With both the MM and my Logitech plugged in. Mouse speed at 50%, they move at VERY different speeds. The Logitech is normal while I need to pick up the magic mouse and place it back at the other side of the mouse pad and start again to make it across the screen.

'Tis True. I didn't know that you had access to my computer.

To get from one side of my 24" screen to the other, I have to move my MM maybe 1 or 1 1/2 inches.

What would I get out of lying?

Took 5 minutes to pass that sucker to my daughter (who likes to experiment with new stuff). Hated the MM. Went back to various BT mice from HP & Microsoft.

Daughter rarely uses it. Just sits on her desk.

Cheers,

Could it be that gaming is the issue? I don't game and find the Magic Mouse to be the first Apple mouse worthy of using. Works fine if you have a light touch. Doesn't respond well to a heavy hand. And another recommendation for BTT both for the MM and the trackpad. BTT also has the nice Windows 7 "Snap" feature.

Ditto on everything you said. Oh well.

I own a logitech mx performance mouse. Way better, dark field technology, its big, and customizable buttons.

I would never get a magic moise. Reason being is that I game, its small, its awkward, there no buttons... and there's no scroll ball. I know apple is about innovation, but they failed with this mouse. a mouse is a mouse, and changing it to something completely different is useless imo, and its just harder and more annoying to use. the design is sexy though.

Agreed completely with every point established. I even have the same mouse ;)

I love mine, but then I am female and have small hands so it 'fits' me very comfortably. I do use MagicPrefs to customise it a bit more and to improve the tracking speed but I have no issues with accuracy or gaming, but then I only play simple games like the sims and RCT3. For me it is the most comfortable mouse I have ever owned.

If anything, gamers have a LIGHTER touch, tend to be more precise and are much more sensitive to the small things.

I can't stand these things though this is the first from Apple that's even remotely within the realm of usable since the hockey puck.

I love the idea, and I applaud apple for trying something new (not their first time).

I feel like the mouse is too small. My fingers hang off of the edge unless i pinch my fingers together, but then my hand begins to hurt.

I guess I like big Mice

logitech

me thats the one thing I've never liked is apple's mice design. I use an inexpensive logitech mouse , simple, cheap and sturdy

Let's see if my iPad can spell correctly.

Ergo. What?

Ergonomics ....Fail.

Just like all the adjustment pics in Mac manuals that apple doesn't apply to their own machines.

Fail.

Hand cramps YES.

i did at first but the more i used it i dont anymore. i kind of like the thin profile holding it with the thumb and pinkie now with the palm off it. i think people who find it painful are trying to use it like a traditional mouse by resting their whole hand on it when i'm not sure that was the way it was designed to be used, as it's so low-profile.

Hate it, im a super picky mouse user. Very poorly designed for ergonomics it also slides like crap.

I wanted to use the logitech Performance mouse, but the high price plus REALLY bad battery life put me off (try changing the batteries every day or so). I tried a bunch of different "mac compatible mice" from razer to microsoft.. returned them all.. (its pretty pathetic how few nice mice natively support OSX, being a recent apple convert)

So I ended up with the logitech MX1100 cordless. Check it out, battery life is 6months+ its awesome and affordable, it shares many of the higher quality parts from the much praised "revolution" that got canned and replaced with the crappy "performance".

I like my mice to have a nice large "hump" and be BIG, this mouse fits the bill. Its also got a nice hidden button where the thumb sits thats programed from expose!

Get them fast as logitech has discontinued it in favor of the battery sucking "darkfield" technology.

magic mouse

i was curious to try out the magic mouse that came with my new iMac. I wanted to like it, though my initial impression from trying it out at the Apple Store was that I would hate it.

Well, I hate it. The tracking is slow and lazy. The gestures don't work half the time unless you hold the mouse with your left hand to steady it. Though the vertical scrolling is cool. My $20 Logitech V220 notebook mouse runs circles around it tracking-wise. And the low profile is just, well, make it silly. Makes it unusable for the most part. And my hands are average for a guy. Probably on the smaller size.

How many of you actually use this thing, and how many cast it aside? I might stick mine on eBay and buy my +4GB ram upgrade with the money.

hey you know whats the problem with your magic mouse? the problem is that you have to set it like you want the mouse to be. go to system preferences them go to mouse and you'll see the options this amazing mouse have!!!!! slow tracking, fast tracking just like you want too!!!!

magic mouse is the best mouse ever made for everything except for gaming.
Using magic mouse + Better touch tool is the most efficient thing to interact with a desktop OS.

Im completely agree with Pachang!!!! Magic mouse is another super product from Apple

I don`t hate it but my Magic Trackpad gets an awful lot more use then my MM.

Agreed. The day I bought my iMac I also got a Magic Trackpad to go with it and it's honestly been the best part of owning a Mac. Desktop with a trackpad with AWESOME multitouch? Yes PLEASE!

Dont be silly. I tried every position in the settings before I decided I hated it. I wanted to like it, believe me. To each their own i guess. Nice try though. ;)

Absolutely love my MM. One caveat: I don't game, so I can't speak to that - maybe if I did, I'd decide the MM is not for me.

Otherwise, this is the best mouse I've ever owned, either on Mac or PC, and I've been using mouses on computers for 20 years.

The Mighty Mouse kept dying for me - I loved the scrolling, but then the scrolling thingie would die and nothing could bring it back to life. But with the Magic Mouse, the scrolling is even better - I wish the battery life was longer, but oh well (I have to change it like every 2-3 weeks, and I have the supposedly high performing Eneloop rechargeables).

I have no problem with hand getting cramped - hold it with your thumb and little finger, don't rest your palm on top of the mouse. It's easy peasy. And fast, one flick - split second, like definitely less than a second, and I move the cursor from one end of my 27" iMac screen to the other. I don't see the need for it to be faster at all - it's so fast it practically disappears during movement.

I love it.

One minor quibble: from time to time - like maybe once a month, it'll lose connection spontaneously, and I have to click to regain it.

I posted this before - consider the Mobee induction charger. No more battery replacements or having to swap out rechargeables. Very convenient although a little pricey

I actually bought the Trackpad before I even got my Mac, I figured that I'd use it more than the magic mouse. After a few days, I've realized that I was way wrong. I'm returning the trackpad tonight and sticking to just using the mouse. I guess I'm weird for liking the magic mouse?

Not weird at all.

I returned the trackpad and stayed with the MM as well.
