Just bought a black case for $13.04 from altatac on ebay and won a bid on the orange for $7.62 through another tactical shop.

Wonder if they will make some in Flat Dark Earth . . . been on back order for a LONG time . . .

Love this case. It provides decent protection without feeling bulky. Only minor issue I have is I bought an amazon lightning cable and the case blocks it from connecting. No issues with standard apple lightning cable

My iP5 just took a 5 foot drop from shirt pocket to bathroom tile floor. Magpul does enough protection. Phone is fine.

Just received mine in black. A few observations:

1. Fit. The fit on mine was less than perfect out of the box - the front lip was bowing out very slightly at the upper right hand side (right where the small rectangular mfg mark is - directly opposite from the mute switch), at the bottom lip and at the top lip so that in those places the bezel was just visible. After 5 minutes of massaging the case (off the phone) with a hairdryer, however, the fit is perfect - tighter all around than any TPU case I've ever had on any of my iPhones over the years.

2. Finish/Feel. There's a ridge on the lower portion of the upper beveled edge of the sides that was a bit rough to the touch at first but has smoothed out after a day's use and absent-minded rubbing. The overall finish is interesting - the texture is rough and almost, but not quite scratchy feeling in a sort of worn-out emery board kind of way. Hard to describe, but I've not come across any other case with this texture. Combined with the ribs, it makes the case fairly grippy without being grabby - i.e., unlike silicone or many TPU cases, the case does not grab at your skin, clothes or any other surfaces, but at the same time the texture and ribs create a fair amount of friction/resistance. Overall, it's a bit harsh and rough feeling so I can't say that it feels particularly pleasant in hand, but it definitely feels secure and functional which is what this case is all about anyway.

Overall, it's a really nice, well designed case and an incredible value. Because of it's unique look and feel and the fact that, while not bulky, it's definitely not a slim case, it won't be for everyone though.

Hi, I wish they made a white, I'm thinking foliage would go well with a white phone, but can't find any pics.

Anybody have any?

Thanks

Yes it will. The material is "gummy" and it'll do fine in a drop in absorbing shock. You'd be surprised, but it'll protect against a normal waist-level drop.

I've posted this a year ago, but my Magpul Field case protected my 4S from a 20 foot fall down two flights of concrete steps. It even pin wheeled down several, bounced down a flight, bounced FACE DOWN off a metal handrail and came to rest at bottom landing. The mute switch broke, but glass remained intact and no other damage to phone. The raised lip of the case surrounding the bezel protects the screen far more than anyone realizes I think. I had an Executive also but it lost its shape in less than a month.

However, I'm not a fan of the case in spite of its protective abilities. It deforms easily and mine always left a nasty greasy residue on the backplate. I went with a SlimArmor for my 5.

I had one for my iphone 4 and it was great for a while. My only small complaint is that it collected lint and dust like crazy over time.

I now have a UAG for my iphone 5. The material on the UAG looks good and doesn't attract lint to the degree that the Magpul did. The tradeoff is that the UAG is more slippery and I'm afraid it's easier to accidentally drop.

From a purely utilitarian standpoint I'd say the Magpul is the better choice. The material seems to grab your skin without feeling rubbery. It's probably the same material and ribbing design that makes their magazines so effective.

Ordered mine Sunday. Should be here on Wednesday! I'm pumped! My current Magpul case has exceeded my expectations!

Edit: it will be here a day early! Will post pics when it arrives. (FDE)

It was worth it. I love the case.

I have said, and still say, that the Belkin Grip Candy Sheer is the BEST case for the iPhone 5. I have tried MANY similar TPU cases to try to find a better case, but most have failed. One case that needs honorable mention is the Magpul Field case. This case has amazed me. The fit, feel, and overall quality of this case is great! I will probably be switching back and forth between this and the Belkin now. I prefer the more simplistic design of the Belkin, but the Magpul is still a great looking case.

Is magpul 5 thinner than speck candyshell?

It's approximately the same thickness. I used to have a Speck CandyShell, and it was only ~1 mm thicker than the Belkin, but it was a noticeable millimeter. The Magpul is about the same thickness as the Speck CandyShell, because it is only ever so slightly thicker than the Belkin. All comparisons were done with each case lying facedown.

How does the tactile feedback compare with these two cases?

Both cases have an audible click for each button.

Magpul: Easier home button, but harder volume buttons.
Belkin: Harder home button, but easier volume buttons.

Weird, but I don't use the volume buttons much anyways.

Do you mean sleep button?

Love the look of this case but am reluctant. Had one for my 4 and it was all kinds of out of shape after a month, plus the strange oily residue the case got really put me off.

Does this stuff the same issues?
