I have a MagSafe but never use it for this reason. My launch 13 Pro battery is still at 100% (but it's not great, lasts 6/7 hours on average). With the new iPhone prices in Europe, I will keep this phone for a long, long time. Connecting the cable once a day doesn't bother me

People jump to a lot of wild conclusion about battery health. The truth is, how the health of your battery holds up is based on MANY factors, many of which aren't even within your control. Honestly, it's largely luck of the draw. There's really no way of knowing if using magsafe charging had a notable affect on your battery health or not.

13pm from release day charged solely on MagSafe charger. Battery health is at 98%. Highly doubt its MagSafe that caused your issue.
There are a lot of factors. Thinking about this the one thing no one has asked is does the OP have air-conditioning in his house. If not what is the inside temperature.

Most people in the USA where I live have air conditioning. Inside it’s going to be between 70 and 75 Fahrenheit (21-24 Celsius). If inside his house is 95 Fahrenheit (35 Celsius) the battery might be getting too hot especially with wireless charging. It does create more heat so in a situation like that I can see it being detrimental.

I dunno why anyone uses it. It’s slow and phone gets hot using it.

I have the Belkin 3 in 1 Boostcharge Pro that supports fast charging and my phone never gets hit. Granted even with fast charging the wireless is not as fast as wired but it’s fast enough for my needs. I usually have plenty of charge left at the end of the day anyway and at night I just let the phone charge wirelessly.

idk man, I've used magsafe with apple 20w brick and I usually charge overnight. I have 99% battery health after 11 months

I know some people say wireless charging reduces the life of a battery, but personally that is not my experience. I’ve been wireless charging my Xs every night for almost four years now. Still the original battery.

Mine is around a year old and it has virtually lived on a MagSafe and its foldable stand; and the battery health is at 92%! I can accept that as being about normal… I’ve got the 13 Mini and couldn’t be happier with it… i moved to that from a 4s that i bought in 2012; which lived the same lifestyle as this new phone does…

I only have the phone off charger when being used and I am away from the charger & its stand… on any given day being off charger for more than 10hrs would be the most… and that’s not because thats all the battery will last, but that is normally the average time i am away from its home base on any given day… so again, I am thinking it is in the normal range for a year old device thats powered on 24/7

NOTE: (the 4s I had wouldn’t last that long if being used a lot when off the charger, even at new, and it went even quicker once it got to be about 7 years old)

I charged my XS on a wireless Qi charger every night, battery health was 82% after three years when I traded it in for the 13 Pro last year. I can live with that. I usually keep my iPhones for two years, three years with the XS was an exception. If I was going to keep a phone any longer than that, I wouldn't have a problem with putting a fresh battery in it after 3+ years. If I stick to my usual two year cycle, it'll never even be an issue.

I don’t know if MagSafe is the same as a charging pad in a car, but man, when I put my 11 PM on the charging pad, I may as well add two eggs and a couple of strips of bacon for a meal on the go!

I don't even check my battery health, it is what it is. If I start having battery issues then I'll go look at it but since I'm not having any battery issues there's no point to look at it.

Let me preface this by saying that I keep my phones for around 12-13 months on average. I sold my XS Max with 99% battery health, 11 Pro Max with 95% battery health, 12 base model with 93% health (6 months of its life was with MagSafe). My iPhone 13, which is in its 9th month is already at 90% battery health and I charge it almost exclusively with Apple's MagSafe Duo charger.

The battery life on the 13 Pro has noticeably degraded from when it was new, much more so than I have experienced with my previous iPhones. This phone went from basically being impossible to kill within a day with my usage to needing a charge well before the day's end.
Nonsense. I've exclusively used the Magsafe charger with my 13 Pro Max every day for almost 12 months and my battery health is 100%. It's luck of the draw with the battery.

I think that we all agree that fast charging is not the best for the battery. Wireless charging is not bad, but the power applied is another history. According to MR, you can use smaller power adapters and then the battery will be charged at a lower rate.

I use a 7.5W wireless charger (Nomad) and for the last 2 iPhone, my battery stayed at 100% health after one year of use.

My launch day iPhone 13 mini is on 97%. It has only been charged by Magsafe every night.

In fact, I think my old XR was the last phone I plugged for wired charging. My old 11 and 12 mini was pure wireless, I aim to kill the battery life :p

Have a 13 - using fast charging brick or belkin 3n1 wireless charger since day 1

At 95%

I got my warranty replacement iPhone 12 pro about a year ago and it’s at 89% battery health. I use MagSafe with 20w block at home gets warm and I also charge my phone with CarPlay in my car. I’m thinking the up-and-down voltage in the car is doing it it’s not a constant voltage

I use magsafe all the time and have no issues with battery life and my 13 pro max is still at 100% and is capacity is still the same as I got it on launch.
Same here, I’ve been charging pretty much exclusively with magsafe and my 13 pro max is still showing 100% battery health.

The fix to the issue is don't use wireless/magsafe charging.

I think MagSafe is the issue, not all wireless charging. OP said they got down to 90% in 9 months using MagSafe, but my 12 Pro Max is only down to 88% after 22 months of using mostly just 7.5 W wireless charging.

Who knows, maybe your screen usage went way up on your current phone vs previous years/phones.
I mean... there's a battery usage curve in the settings for the last, 10 days is it? OP could look at that. Could be a battery issue, could be an app that's new, could be a lot of things, including OP just venting. 🤷‍♂️

Just curious, how do you know it is MagSafe that did it? It couldn’t be a bad battery or other issue?
It's the only difference bet
This so much!

People stress about their battery. You have people watching their battery percentage and making routines to keep their phones at a certain level of charge just to eke out this health percentage number.

You’re spending $1000 on a phone or maybe a little less depending on the model. Is it really worth saving $69 over a two-year period to change your usage habits? If you’re buying a MagSafe puck you’ve already spent at least $39 for the convenience of not having to plug your phone in. I have used the Apple MagSafe puck about 1/5th the time and a regular plug mostly. After a year it’s still at 100% but even if it wasn’t I don’t care. It’s not worth me doing anything special. I can see if we were in some sort of apocalyptic situation where batteries weren’t available so you needed to make your phone last for ten years then completely understandable.
I've never had a battery replaced on my phone. Is there going to be any physical indication that the phone has been opened? Do they properly reapply the water resistance glue or whatever that is? Any risks of the stainless steel band getting scratched?

I guess the only big difference in my usage compared to 11 Pro and XS is that I now use wireless CarPlay on my iPhone 13. It's always connected whenever I'm in the car.

I have a 13pm that still shows 99% capacity, but the battery life is definitely worse than at the beginning.

I'm thinking either its updates to iOS, or possibly the summer (high brightness more regularly).
