I’ve tried that one and the Tozo from Amazon and the one from Amazon (has ball socket integrated directly into back of charging disc vs charging disc being connected to a second magnet that has the ball socket) has a stronger magnet

Yes, this one has the integrated ball-socket. I don’t know why so many of the Amazon reviews complain about the magnets. I think they’re fine.

I got his ankle cig lighter with one usb-c and one usb-a and the usb-c does give the MagSafe charging animation.
Cig lighter charger
im using a 90 degree usb c and 90 usb a inside this little door so I needed it shallow enough I can close it.
I run all the cables up and I through the air vent(under it). This is the usb-c cable Im using.
Usb-c cable
So you need a usb-c cable and fast charge cig lighter charger in order to get MagSafe charging animation working?
What if car mount holder doesnt have NFC chip for MagSafe charging animation?

not too sure really. I didn't try a usb-a to usb-c with this but I could. I have my old flush mount one I could try.
I have another one in my bedroom and that shows the animation with a usb-c to usb-a so Im not Sure it needs to have two usb-c ends as it doesn't in my room one. Still not sure in the car. You'd have to try it with your setup to see what works or not. I tried 4 other usb-a power adapters and only 1 showed the animation so im not sure why some show it and some don't.

ProClip models out and includes one with a bottom rest which might be handy for those concerned that the magnets may not hold alone. Can also be had with or without the power adapter, which drops the price a bit compared to the previous post, if you already have a power adapter.

I know it’s not the cheapest option, but I’ll likely go the ProClip with foot attachment for my Pro Max.
How do you exclude the power adapter? I can't find an option where you can buy the holder without the power adapter.

Wow, ProClip's Magsafe mount is a joke. $54.99 and not even an attempt in the mount to route the cable more "stealthily" and two feet to hold the phone up instead of a positioning / orientation magnet?

At that price, I'd go with Turing's Magsafe mount.

I tried on my own magsafe car mount on another car because my cig lighter didnt work on mine
usb-c to usb-a, i didnt get an animation but i got the speed: around 13 watts from cig lighter LED display
I have 12 Mini, strangely, its even faster than stock Magsafe charger which is limited to 12w for the 12 Mini

My mobile office is almost complete just looking for a dual car charger that outputs 20w at 9 V/2.2 A. The Anker powerdrive+III duo is close 30w 9v/3A only on one port the other is 18w/9v2a. Any suggestions?

No chip means no animation.
And you don’t necessarily need USB-C. Depends on the design of the charger.
I’ve got some that produce the animation using USB-A.

Hey all

After seeing it mentioned here, I ended up getting the TIMESS mount from Amazon along with a 17MM Ball plate I could attach to my existing ProClip mount in my car. I was over all happy with the results, except one major thing is I can't tighten the washer enough where the mount doesn't move pretty easily. I like it to be a lot more rigid. Because of this I may need to go back to the drawing board.

Anyone have any other options that produce a very similar result? I am using wired CarPlay so in my case the I don't need MagSafe for charging, JUST for the mounting.

I may consider the ProClip one after all. I hate the idea of buying a magsafe charger that I'm just going to cut the cable off of though. Is it possible to just buy a magsafe shaped magnet insert?

Thanks

Yeah sorry, Brodit UK as well as Brodit UK which is the same product as ProClip has listings without the adapter. It’s a safe bet they’ll be listed at the ProClip site at some point.

See the link I posted shortly after that comment for links to the Brodit listings.

I have a question, do you think the overall size of car mount support provide more stability when you put the phone on it?
Some of them are more square/rectangular while the other are smaller or more rounded form factor
E.g mine is pretty same as below (picture), i ve been experienced a lot of road bumps, it holds the phone enough but i cant compare with any other magsafe car mount since i only own this one

I ended up just using the ball off the vent mount that came with the charger (drilled it out w/a 9/64 bit). I attached the ball to my ProClip w/a slightly larger bolt (~5/32). You need to push the charger onto the ball while you screw on the collar, but it works. Very happy with the end result.

Link of your car mount model? Does it have a Magsafe charging animation?
Thanks

Quick question: What is the difference if it has the official MagSafe charging icon or not, but still wirelessly charges?

I’ve tried chargers that couldn’t even charge the phone but still had the animation. The battery actually drained while supposedly “charging”.
So unless it’s MFI certified, the animation alone means nothing.

So just to clarify, it will have no impact on future battery health or anything if there is no MagSafe animation?

I’d assume these style would be more stable. Having the orientation lock is another point of magnet contact also. It’s easy to turn mine(it’s the same as that) for horizontal orientation also.
Not saying the round only style won’t work. I just don’t want one because in my mind the square style i assume is the most stable way to go.
The phone covers the whole thing anyway it shouldn’t matter whichever you choose because they get covered by the phone. I’d go most secure most stable you can get. I don’t use a case so I want most stable I can get.

If you’re concerned about that you should stick with the official Apple charger or use a Qi certified charger from a reputable manufacturer.
I haven’t seen any MFi certified chargers yet and all of the ones so far that do produce the animation are probably using a cloned or hacked NFC.
If they’re willing to use cloned chips what other shortcuts in quality are they willing to take?

I m planning to unscrew that ball mount apart and use it as Magsafe charger, its flat credit card shape, exactly what i want as wireless charging pad
This rectangular shape is exact same width as my 12 Mini, moreover 12 Mini doesnt get over 12 watts at best with Magsafe.
Its 15/20$, much cheaper than genuine rounded Magsafe. Yes, of course, i could simply buy these rounded Magsafe knockoffs but bigger surface and squared/rectangular shape would most likely help for the alignment

Someone here already disassembled it

To update that post: the “MagSafe” magnet inside that mount also allows for a very strong hold when turning an iPhone 12 sideways to a landscape orientation.

So I initially gave the Zeera poor marks. However, I have changed my mind. I have found its odd (using Apple Leather MagSafe case) it feels as though its not a strong connection but it works flawlessly. I am using iPhone 12 Pro Max, Apple Leather Case and a almost vertical solution. I put the Zeera directly onto my Scos he mount. It feels like a slight magnetic hold but its great. Took it out in my Ford F-150 and hit the bumps and it really does hold well.

I also did some testing with the QI Charging. Tomorrow I need to test it with less of a charge to see if it really hits 15watts. Today testing it with 65% state of charge it was only pulling a little over 9Watts but was providing the animation.
Jeez all of these product I think are rebranded items. I just bought this over the recommend on the member, it looks like the zeera product.

My solution is sticking a Popsocket to the back of the Magsafe charger, and then using the Popsocket vent mount or the dash mount.

Both work great, and all three are under $60.
