The connector for the USB-C cord has a satisfying snap when you plug in the included cord. Any other cord has less of a snap but feels secure.

The vent adjuster looks and feels solid w/rubber in the right places. It feels like the adjuster will stay tight on its own, but it remains to be seen whether the weight of an iPhone 12 Pro Max will cause it to loosen over time.

I would say the charger has a satin finish, and the included vent mount a slightly more matte finish.

Just got a Zeera via eBay and actually prefer the Tozo from Amazon (apparently 1st gen Zeera, with ball socket built into the back of the charging disc):

- Tozo is lighter (so will put less strain on vent slat, likely making it more stable) and protrudes less because it doesn’t have the extra magnetic disc (which allows the charging disc to be removed from your car and used with desk and other mounts, but I will only use in car so don’t need that functionality)
- Tozo’s magnet is stronger

For those using this style of vent mount with the hook (the lower part in the picture above), how secure is it to the vent? To be clear, I'm not asking about how secure the phone is to the charging mount (the upper part in the picture above). Ideally, if anyone has tried both the type above and the Zeera, I would appreciate any comparison.

I think I'm pretty set on Tozo but if the above vent mount style is more secure, it would make me consider Teckape.

You don’t need to buy a Teckape just to get the hook mount.

The combined vent mount + charger will place the iPhone 3-1/8" (3.125") in front of the vent.

Thanks for getting the original pics from your seller in China. 👍 That's what turned me onto this mount.

Thanks for those. Looks really good. Love the blue circle. Still not sure if I’ll use the charger in the car since I never use Bluetooth but I might plug it in for the times I don’t want to plug it in. Notice any imprints on the case from it holding the phone?

Thanks! I had searched a bit but couldn’t find one. That said, has anyone already tried/compared?

I bought a holder for the official Apple MagSafe charger and it had the hook mount. I really liked it. Much more stable than the duckbill attachment that just uses friction. The hook actually pulls against the back of the vent so once tight it’s not going anywhere. Doesn’t really help with the weight of the holder pulling the louvers closed though. That’s my main complaint with all vent mount systems.

ProClip models out and includes one with a bottom rest which might be handy for those concerned that the magnets may not hold alone. Can also be had with or without the power adapter, which drops the price a bit compared to the previous post, if you already have a power adapter.

I know it’s not the cheapest option, but I’ll likely go the ProClip with foot attachment for my Pro Max.

I actually got the email today that the regular puck holder mount is now available, the one without the support base. This one seems to only be for a Pro Max though? Maybe the 12/Pro don't have one since the phone isn't as big?

Regarding the standard MagSafe holder than is now available, I have been waiting for that one but I am torn on what to do. I dont like that it just basically holds a MagSafe puck. I use wired carplay and will probably continue to use wired carplay, which means I don't need the wireless charging ability. I just want the Holder and since my car already has my ProClip mounting base.

I'm using an older iPhone holder that is technically for my model iPhone so I have been wanting to get a new one anyway and I think a MagSafe Mount would be very handy. Sure I will still have to plug it in, but I think that will be faster than sliding my phone down onto my current mount and lining up the lightning connector at the bottom.

Suppose I could buy a MagSage Puck and either cut the wire or just set it aside. I admit that seems rather wasteful. Is there a way to get a MagSafe size magnet and stick it in the ProClip mount?

By the way @Smigit where are you seeing the mount option without the Power adapter? I don't see that option.

Here. I believe ProClip and Brodit are the same product for different markets? Same products and same model numbers. Not available on the Australian store holdmyphone.com.au, but it’s Christmas Day here so I don’t expect anything for a few days, if not Jan. may be that the ProClip site hasn’t got them all listed yet either.

Brodits international site also has a listing with the various options. This page shows the foots adjustable and works for all model phones. https://www.brodit.com/searchList.h...mDevices=1&mmVehicles=0&deviceModel=iPhone+12

Yeah they are definitely the same brand. I have even bought pro clip products in the past that say Brodit on them. I wonder if ProClip will sell the version without the Power adapter. Wonder what the price difference is anyway.

Thanks btw.

Ok guys I’m responding to my post with pictures the seller sent to me of the actual product after I asked.
This is exactly what I was looking for to begin with. Looks like the cable plugs into the backside under the mounting point so it’s always hidden(perfect)(edit-yes the cable plug is in the back spot under the mounting location). The front looks to be matte black and there’s little plastic pull pieces over the center charger looks like(might be glossy behind that which is fine).

So you are using a combination of this mount and existing ProClip car bases? Do I have that right? If so, did you get it all set up? How is it? I might do something like this.

No imprint per se. I originally thought it would mar/imprint the leather case based on what I saw after turning my phone 90 degrees to horizontal while stuck to the charger. That left a polished circle on the leather. But now 3 days later that mark is gone (my phone spends a lot of time in my pants pocket).

I just tried attaching/detaching the phone to the charger 20x and there is a faint circle you can see if you hold the phone/case just right in the light. So I think it may leave something there over time, but you might not even know it's there if you don't think to look for it. YMMV.

No worries.

It’s a guess but the UK ones that also appear on the US site with the adapter are prices 1:1 for GBP to USD (50GBP/USD and 55 GBP/USD depending on whether you get the foot or not). Probably a good chance then that the US price without the adapter will be the same, or close to, the UK listing which is 35GBP.

If that’s the case it might be a decent saving buying without the adapter, if you don’t need one. Also makes the price far more reasonable for those that balked at it previously.

Speculation, but I think it’s a fair guess given there’s two models to compare pricing to.

I have a jellyfish vent mount. What I’ve been using for years now. It’s similar to what you get in this package but the bar that adjust is metal so it wont break over time. I tried the one that came in the package and it’s very solid with my vents in an Audi. Locks on and doesn’t move.
I drove around with this with no case tonight for 20-30 minutes. Lots of big bumps and movement and no issues. I used it turned also and also completely fine. To turn it I put my thumb on the screen and back of my fingers on the mount(charge base back)and turn the whole phone and mount at the same time.
I took it apart for you guys to show you what’s going on. The magnets seem beefy. There’s a metal plate over all of them too. The lower alignment magnet also has a metal plate over it. This all adds to the overall magnetization of the ring with the metal round piece over all the magnets making that metal piece magnetized as well. The led is inside of the coil.
so I do get a MagSafe animation with a a third party usb-a to usb-c puck. I don’t get it with a usb-c to usb-c puck and cable( it is the older macbook charger so maybe it would work with the new 20wAtt one. But I’m not worried about that.
I don’t mind if it chargers it at full speed fast charge. Honestly, I don’t want this as I don’t want to fast charge my phone 24/7. If it charges overnight I’m totally fine. My 10s max after 2 years had 94% battery life still. If I fast charge at every charge I would expect the battery degradation to be around 80-85% over 2 years. Heres Some pics.

Living in Arizona I am not going to give up a vent for my phone.
I’m also in az. My phone is in the center of two vents. Never had an issue. The left vent I can still move and right is aimed straight. Actually keeps the phone cool in the summer.

I don't think he is talking about keeping the phone cool...it is reducing the AC airflow to the humans :)
I understand that. Its never been an issue for me or my passenger. I was just saying as a side benefit of the heat in Az. Ive had my phone overheat in my car plenty of times before I had it in front of a vent. It blocks the side that goes straight out it doesn't do much to block the passenger or driver at all. Not an issue In my book. I used to get overheats in az when the sun would come in through the front window in the summer. Haven't had that problem in years in direct 115 degree sun.

I just don't have my phone holders near the dashboard where the direct sun can make them overheat.
But for me it is more of an issue blocking AC vents when it is over 100 all summer long here in AZ.
It just makes more sense to NOT block an AC vent that is blowing cold air when the inside of vehicles can reach 130-150 in the summertime here in the AZ desert.
But to each his own....if blocking a vent doesn't bother you then so be it.

Depends on the car really. If it literally blocks the whole round vent then yea I wouldn’t go that route. My old car had round vents that a phone would block completely. In my car now it’s in the center of two vents and doesn’t effect either of them. I also don’t like air blowing directly into my eyes. I use my phone for gps and having it low never worked for me. It was always more dangerous if you use your phone for maps if it’s low. Right off the steering wheel is best for me.

Yeah i use mine for GPS as well...and direct line of sight does indeed work best.

That’s what I did. I use a proclip vehicle mount in the wife’s car with the pro clip ball mount attachment. Then just add the charger to that rather than vent mount

Which one?
There’s been about 4 different ones discussed here.
If it’s USB-A you probably need a QC 3.0 charger.
Keep in mind that from what we’ve seen so far, the animation has nothing at all to do with how well the charger will perform.
I used it with a usb pd charger and only get 7.5w. Though I wonder if I should try qc3 charger because I know some generic 15w qi chargers only hit 15w using proprietary Qi. I wonder if that is the case here. Will need to try.
