With the new MagSafe accessories starting to arrive, I am interested to see if there will be phone mounts for a vehicle that will allow the use of the MagSafe magnets without having to add additional magnets to the back of your iPhone or case. I don't really care about wireless charging in my vehicle since I have to plug it in for CarPlay to work anyway, so as long as a magnetic mount will work, I'm in.

I got this one, just magsafe car phone mount, no wireless charging, magnetic force is super strong after i take off my clear case, maybe i need to buy a magsafe case🤣.

Hi all, first post here and wanted to share my magsafe car setup in my daily driver, a 2007 Acura TL-S.

I picked up an ESR halolock which I had originally mounted in a vent as intended. Being winter, I didn't like that the hot air was blowing on the back of the charger and my phone. Also being winter, I didn't like freezing by closing the same vent.

I then moved the halolock to my center stack and crammed it into my cassette tape opening. This was also not an ideal mounting option and would shake loose after a bit.

I then ordered a proper CD slot mount and other needed hardware.

Here is the CD mount that fits with the halolock. It says the mount is 17mm but I found that I needed to transfer the original halolock ball ring lock to the new CD mount.

I also ordered a 12" USB C to C cable:

The new cable plugs into a USB C cigarette adapter which has a voltmeter as my car doesn't have one in it's gauges:

Very pleased with the setup I have now for my new 12 mini. 👍

Looking forward to being on this forum 🍻

I have sightly tweaked my magsafe car mount into a magsafe charger
Thanks @chrisdazzo for helping me
Plugged it into my official Apple 5w brick charger because i dont have any usb-c to usb-c cable yet
I really works as you can see pictures below (Airpods Pro case charging)
I removed entirely ball mount then a screw stuck in support (right in middle of circle) then i used a suction pad to remove front cover
I love it, its bigger than original or any knock off Magsafe charger (circular)

ProClip arrived today. Haven't gone for a drive with it yet but not expecting any issues given the combination of the Apple Magsafe magnets and the small support feet at the base. Should get a short test run this evening. The feet extend just far enough to fit my 12 Pro Max inside the Apple Leather case with a mm or two to spare.

Looks nice. I just received the ProClip MagSafe holder for the iPhone 12 Pro. No feet on the one for the 12 pro. Haven’t driven anywhere yet but feels sturdy with the silicone MagSafe case. Interesting these have vanished on the ProClip site.

I don't understand how ProClip charges that much and doesn't have the positioning / orientation magnet...

ProClips sites been pretty odd with stock. I believe they’ve never offered the entire range of products for the MagSafe adapters. The same family is sold under multiple brands globally, and the Brodit (UK + international) branding still shows the full family (https://www.brodit.com/productList.html?brand=Apple&model=iPhone+12+Pro+Max&pn=prod) as does the Australian distributor which is where I purchased (https://www.holdmyphone.com.au/iphone-12-pro-max/).

On that note, the feet on my unit are universal and can be moved up and down to support the full family. I never saw them offer that SKU at ProClip USA however, but this would support a non Max iPhone. I don’t mind the feet over an orientation magnet myself.

For anyone considering ESR HaloLock, I just noticed it's on sale for $26 (35% off) or $30 at Amazon:

I just ordered the dash version. Due to arrive Wednesday.

I have been a big fan of their holders for years, not using one atm as i have CarPlay but would like a holder to charge, a new magsafe set up would cost me $200AUD with holder, magsafe attachment, magsafe charger, and that doesn't include a magsafe case. If a apple case near on $300.

Is the 12 pro max link you put above for holdmyphone same one for the iP12. You have to be careful with them as they sell products that are not in stock and don't say back order on their website.
Best to ring them first.

New ProClip MagSafe holder installed in my ‘07 FJ. Already had the ProClip mount for the iPhone 7 Plus, so just had to swap out the actual holder. FJ only has two options for the location, with the other one too low to use for navigation easily.

Also had to swap out the Bluetooth adapter for one that had a power adapter that works with USB C.

So far so good. Feels solid and hasn’t dislodged while driving. Cable just ran in a black conduit, doesn’t need to look great.

The one I specifically ordered was https://www.holdmyphone.com.au/magsafe-charger-mount-with-plug-in-car-charger~72424

It wasn’t on hand (or something else in my order may not have been) and they had to get it in. That said, it was about 13 days or so from order to arrival, so it wasn’t too bad in the scheme of things.

Made a few trips with it since Monday and it’s working just fine. Happy with it.

Paired with a 20w Belkin adapter that has the same power profile as the Apple 20w Apple charger to ensure it charges at the quicker charge rate. A fair few adapters looked to be 18w and I assume will suffer the same way Apples older 18w adapter does in terms of charging speed. Something to consider.

Not of use to me as I don’t drive and I’m not in the US but thought I’d share since I have their standard ‘halo lock’ charger and it’s been spot on so far.

But ESR currently have their car mount on offer

This discount code takes 35% off ESRCWJ66

Not a ref code or anything, just on their email list so they email me offers etc and I thought I’d share in case it helps someone out.

Thanks for this. I just placed an order. Discount code works!

I just want a small, circular vent mount that works with the MagSafe magnets. I don’t need wireless charging

I hate that the belkin one is silver, it would stick out like a sore thumb in my interior.

Is there anything out there like this?

I just ordered this from Scosche, I think it fits the bill. I like the adjustable arm to keep it off the vent and from blocking the lower part of my CarPlay screen when attached to the vent bellow the screen.

I agree white/silver doesnt match with most of car dashboard, i swapped from silver to black model because it was too noticeable, i am worried about breaking and entering
