"allowing customers to carry a few credit cards or IDs with their device"
good deal! so when you lose/get stolen the phone, you lose the complete pack! i suggest also to add a small paper sheet with your PINs on it, and a ring to attach keys!
The idea of a phone wallet is not new. I carried my card and iD on my phone for years, zero concerns, until I couldn't do it any more due to awkwardness when trying to charge wirelessly. I might just go back to doing that with the 12.

you mean that 60 euro piece of .. that fall off immediately??? :D
I thought that they recall all of them and replace the magnets with stronger ones
They'd never recall them. Instead they will just boast about the new, improved, stronger magnets in the next iPhone that is now capable of holding objects stronger. I'm sure they'll talk about how they were hard at work and it took incredible engineering.

It’s supposed to. You are supposed to take it off when you pull out cards. All the videos show it stays on in normal use. I think this idea that it doesn’t work came from videos of people trying to shove upside down into pants painted on their legs without using their fingers to expand the pocket.
Are you implying they are putting it in their pocket wrong?

Might pick one up as I only need mine when it comes to petrol all other times I don't need mine I just use apple pay so this will stay in my bag for when I need it

Wait, so this $60 case isn’t an iPhone case with a pocket for credit cards? It’s JUST the pocket for credit cards. You have to spend another $50 for the actual iPhone case??

no thanks

Apple thinks they are Hermès nowadays.
I wonder if there are any reasonable priced Aliexpress versions yet

Just picked up mine from the Apple store. Some thoughts:
- The Baltic blue matches perfectly with the pacific blue 12 Pro and plum silicone case
- The original card filler that Apple has inside the wallet was almost impossible to push out.
- Takes 3 cards max. You can try to squeeze a 4th one in but it won’t sit flush with the other cards
- Magnets are strong. I didn’t have any concerns about it falling off even when I shake it.
- No issues putting it in and taking it out of my pocket. I’m wearing board shorts today. Tried it on the work pants and no issues with the wallet detaching either. But those are not skinny jeans
- It seems to stay on better on the silicone case than the naked iPhone itself. Probably not due to the strength of the magnets but the actual friction between the leather and the silicone vs leather against the glass back.

Like all other leather cases for the phone, it’s obviously not for everyone. But if you want to carry a few cards with you and not take your wallet for some quick shopping or go for a walk, this is pretty good for it.

It obviously adds some bulk to the overall package of the iPhone 12 Pro and if you pair it with the 12 Pro Max the whole thing will be monstrously big, thick and heavy.

Why not just use Apple Pay and not have your credit cards physically attached to your phone?
Been doing that for years, my goal is to not need any manner of physical wallet with me at all - but I still need my EU credit card sized driver's license for ID purposes several times a week... for ID:ing when picking up packages, for checking out & checking in barcode scanners when grocery shopping etc.

With my Xs I've been using the leather folio for this, and I hate the design and always having that wallet part flapping around so I often switch between a normal leather or silicon case and the folio. When I saw this design presented in the keynote I exclaimed "YES! Finally!" because it's a better practical solution to my problem than I had dreamed they would ever come up with. Yes it's ludicrously expensive for a wimpy little pocket and I loathe Apple for their accessory prices, but then again the combined price of case+wallet is what you would've paid for the leather folio anyway except it's much better.

Looks good to me, i would put a max of say 3-4 cards so seems fine for that. For me it would stay in my bag a lot of the time so when i need it this is ideal. Will see though.

I think I’d only be able to handle the added depth from this on the mini. If I end up exchanging for the mini, I will much more seriously look in to this. I’ve always really wanted to only have one thing to carry, along with my keys. Most wallet cases have always proven to be too cumbersome for me.

Do the cards stay reasonably securely if you hold the phone upside down or do they all come flying out like airborne leaflets?

I guess I see your point about it falling off more easily, but I think it looks best on the mini
I just think it would function better, and look a little better if there was a ring of the phones color around the wallet.

Are you implying they are putting it in their pocket wrong?
No. I am saying they are acting like they have never used a pocket before. They shove the phone in their pocket like a five year old puts away laundry.

People complaining about a bad product, which this wallet case appears to be from several reviewers, in a thread about said product must be a foreign idea to you.

Maybe you should open a new “No MagSafe Wallet complaints” thread. There I could see why you would get annoyed at such complaints.
It’s a bad product for the people who don’t see any use for it HOWEVER the people who do see it as useful, it’ll be a good product for them. My point was if it’s not the product for you, why not just let it go and move on?

I’m not particularly fond on Samsung mobile phones but I don’t trawl the Samsung forums moaning about them.

Bloody hell - why do people get so hung up on things? If you think you'll find it useful, great. If you think it'll fall off then just don't buy one.

This is MacRumors, the place for product scrutiny, several users of which are doing that out of financial interest. Let the silent majority do what you're advising.
