I have to say this app is so much better than Google Sync that just came out today. Google Sync doesn't show a preview and eats up my battery.

I switched back to Mail Notifier and I'm very happy.

Awesome and thanks for the assurance you are using the secure sockets to check. Now I can turn off featch for my gmail and hotmail account and save even more battery.

My only complaint is that I wish that you had put counts on the email accounts once you go into the app.

Honestly I would not use this app with the hotmail functionality. Hotmail unlike Gmail currently does not offer IMAP access. For those who are less technical, what this means is that in order for this app to provide you push functionality, you must first hand them your username and password and they will log into your hotmail webpage manually to see how many mails are unread. If you are fine with someone opening your hotmail web page then go ahead. Personally that's not what something I can live with.

if we buy this app. will someone goes thought our email? so they are push onto our fone

is that for hotmail use?

So is there any chance of this app opening Mail when you touch it? I'd buy it for sure if that's the case. :D

There is currently no way to do so with the current SDK. The notification currently brings you to the home screen where you have to only tap once to open the mail app.

I have been using it personally for weeks and have found no issues in terms of usability.

Yes it is simple enough just to click on native mail app after getting a notification.

However and i'm not sure its possible, what would be nice is to have a web based version open as an option and if it could identify what account has a notification and open the appropriate web link. That would be cool. The you would only need the native app for sending.

I noticed that the developer of Boxcar has it so that when you get a Twitter notification through the Boxcar app, clicking View will open a different 3rd party app. Like Twitterific.

Does it just not work with Apple apps?

It only works for applications that register a specific URL to be launched with. In the case of the Mail app, it does have a URL, but it launches the compose dialogue instead of the mailbox.

I just d/l'd this app, and set everything up OK. I sent a test email from my Hotmail to my Gmail account and I have yet to received any notifications. I have all the alerts set in the "on" position. When I go into my mail app, the test emails download, but I'm not getting any notifications from the app. Any suggestions?

I would also like to thank beta testers who helped with the beta testing.

Did I beta test this one? I've been testing a bunch of your great apps. Any way you can put me on a list, so I get all your new apps? I've loved U SMS, and this one is great too.

There was a bug and we fixed it. Let me know if it is working for you now :).

Just bought it and also had my mom buy it for herself. It works pretty good for me but for her it is not working. When trying to add her hotmail account, it always says "invalid credentials". We have tried it several times and have reinstalled the app as well. What can the problem be?

Edit:

My gf also purchased it and is unable to add her hotmail account either. Only her gmail.

EDIT:

After a couple of emails from Technical Support, my problems are now fixed! Thank you very much and awesome support!

I understand that you get notification when you get an email, but what happens from there? can you reply, save, etc? does it give you access to your email account?

also, can it give you an alert when you receive junk mail?

What I do is when I get a push notification on my phone, I go in the mail app, dowload the email, read it, then respond if needed. It really can't get any easier than that!

Derek, congrats on a well design and useful app! I have tried other push email apps prior to Mail Notifier, and hands down, your app is the fastest, easiest and most convenient to use. I received push notifications quicker than the other email push apps I have tried. This is well worth the $5!
