With such a low end machine, I find this is impressive. It does mean that Silicon Macs can pretend to play some graphic intensive games. Especially all the M3 family.

I've been impressed with my M1 Air as well. Everyone is always comparing Apple Silicon to dGPUs (which is understandable), but we sometimes forget that a lot of premium 13" laptops (XPS, etc) are running Intel's integrated garbage, and the Air can play a lot of stuff that's flat out unplayable on much of its direct competition.

Some cool upcoming Mac games from Steam Next Fest:

It seems the Mac App Store takes some days to properly propagate the updates to all of its mirrors. It should be able to do delta updates, but probably that takes a few days too to propagate, so if you starts downloading or updating just after a release, it's going to be slow or download more data than needed.
Just an update in case anyone is interested;
The game update today finally allows itself to be downloaded, but has a speed limit of 25MB/s. This speed is the same when I downloaded Death Stranding last week. It seems Apple's regional servers each has its own throttle limit?

And the macOS download size is seriously 64GB so it is the whole game, while the iOS update is only 686MB so it is just a delta.

I find it interesting that @Spaceboi Scaphandre hasn't mentioned that Disney is buying a 1.5 billion dollar stake in Epic Games for Fortnite...

Or really no one seems to be talking about it...

I mean what do you want me to say? They bought a stake in Epic Games. That can mean anything and we're not gonna see the effects of that purchase for a while.

But it's not really macOS related until the game's Mac port comes back (if it comes back)

Does it really change much of anything? They are getting a 9% stake in Epic Games.

For as close to Apple as Disney is, it just seemed surprising that they would buy a stake in Epic just for Fortnite.

It was an aside I guess, I kind of forgot about the Fortnite thread where this is probably more apropo.

I wonder why UL can't launch Steel Nomad for macOS and Linux at the same time as the Windows version. Also has there been news on Assassins Creed: Mirage?

Disney+ just outbid Netflix ($75 million) to get Taylor Swifts Eras Tour on their platform. Looks to me like they are buying into whatever is popular right now in an effort to beat out the other streaming services by offering not only movies but in app gaming and shopping experiences. Netflix already has games so Disney+ needs to do the same to compete.

Disney already has games though (Dreamlight Valley is the most recent online FarmVille type game).

Yeah, this strikes me as some corporate schmuck throwing money around to “build a digital ecosystem” or somesuch. I don’t think it’s reflective of a long term strategy.

Disney buying equity stake in Epic seems like a long term play, especially 1.5 billion worth. Curious if the FTC is going to have an issue with this (as far as I can tell it hasn't been approved yet).

Not on Disney+. Netflix has the check mark of "includes games with service". Whether it makes sense to have games on D+ or Netflix even is not something that's really clear to me though.

One game that caught my eye during Steam Next Fest is News Tower, a business management game where you build and manage your own newspaper in 1930s New York. The game releases Tuesday and has a Mac version

To clarify:

By corporate schmuck, I meant a guy that doesn’t understand technology, but heard the phrase “digital ecosystem” once and had the thought “okay, spend money to buy equity in a game company to maybe potentially stream games on Disney+”

And I would bet that it won’t pan out in the future. Game Streaming failed for Google, and I don’t have faith that the leadership at Disney has the capability to make it happen either.

Or maybe I just have a very low opinion on corporate management in general.

The FTC has been silent on Microsoft’s buying spree, so I think this will fly.
