I have been playing around with Microsoft’s Game Pass streaming on my Mac this week, Indiana Jones looks fantastic on the Macs screen! And rubbish by comparison on my IPS 4K monitor… gotta say Apples screens are mmmmuuutt (making a kissing sound). Anyway the streaming works really well.

What Mac are you playing on?

Any news on Robocop Rogue City for Mac? Was supposed to be released in 2024, only two weeks left and no release date lol. I've had the game purchased for over a year, but been holding off on playing as it's quite buggy via Crossover / Whisky...

I feel like this was reported a while ago. Mainly due to the game not selling well.

Wonder where the M1 Max sits in the requirements list.

The first article is indeed from Oct 22 but the second one is new. I didn't know that the team was laid off.

M1 Max is on par with M4 Pro GPU-wise but Civ VII relies more on CPU I guess.

The recommended M2 Pro 10 core is the binned version with 6P4E, which has 2 less P-Cores than any M1 Max (8P2E), and multi-core benchmark scores slightly lower than M1 Max as well. But yeah the M2 of course edges a bit in single core, so I 'd say they are a wash, with the M1 Max crushing in GPU cores. I don't see much if any scenario that M1 Max would run Civ VII worse than a M2 Pro.

It meets the recommended specs, I would guess.

In the Windows specs, minimum is defined as low / 1080p / 30 fps and recommended as high / 1080p / 60 fps. The CPU requirements for recommended under both Windows and Linux are weaker than the base M1. GPU performance and 16 GB RAM are the real differences between the tiers.

It's already available on the Epic Store ? On the Mac app store it's expected in February…

Lol, Control is free on EGS. Bet the macOS version is Mac App Store exclusive, sigh.

I bet the developers probably expect to be paid for their work ;)

I find it fair to pay for software. I have nothing against promotion (I did appreciate the 75% promotion on Resident Evil), but I don't think we should expect thousands of hours of work to be handed over freely.

I don't begrudge that position. I actually paid for the game when it came out (well about the time I bought my 6900XT) and bought all the expansions. I don't think that I am going to buy it again as my M1 probably won't do it justice.

I just looked up this game using my 2018 specs and 6700 xt...it can run it in bootcamp windows 10 mode..so if anything it can be Mac OS hampering the game. Definitely not your graphics card, my weakpoint is the cpu but it still has room and this is at the recommended setup.

I feel like the MAS exclusivity is actually hampering Apple’s goal of expanding the Mac as a gaming platform.

To be blunt, the App Store sucks. Maybe it’s just me but I find it obtuse and difficult to use compared to Steam.

If Apple’s ultimate aim is to expand the library of games available on the mac, then I feel it’s counterproductive to keep the ports exclusive to the App Store. Granted, I haven’t seen the numbers, but I would hazard a guess that the App Store exclusive sales don’t make up for the money spent porting the games.

(This worries me because I can easily see some out of touch management seeing the numbers only and determining it’s not worth the effort.)

It's up to the developer if they want to release on the App Store alone, or other platforms too. Apple isn't stopping them.

Until very recently it was impossible to have an Apple Silicon ONLY port on Steam. Which may have played a part in certain developers choosing not to release there.

The other reason for App Store only is unified purchases for iPhone/iPad/macOS.
