That news seems a little ironic… it's a million miles away from the 'Microsoft buys Bungie for Halo' move we'd like Apple to make. Apple should buy a promising mid-size studio give them plenty of ressource to make a stellar game with a release first on Mac (before other platforms). Glad for RAC7.

Sandfall Interactive could be a good buy.

An interesting little thing with the latest Steam hardware survey.

16 GB VRAM has now overtaken 8 GB in use for the Mac side. 31.76% to 30.33%.

(Third highest is 2 GB, at 12.20%)

I am curious if that sticks next month, I got asked to participate in the steam survey on every computer in my house (mac and 3 pc's).

It is also interesting that the CPU count and GPU type didn't appreciably change.

Hmm, says unavailable to me. I'm guessing it's not native?

No, the Mac port isn't out yet but it means it will be on EGS too and those who got the free game will get the Mac port for free (hopefully). Otherwise the store would say "unsupported". I can confirm though that Dead Island 2 doesn't run in Crossover.

"We’re thrilled to announce that our “2.0” patches for Myst: Masterpiece Edition, Riven: The Sequel to Myst (1997), and Myst III: Exile are now out on Steam and GOG – and for the first time ever, all three titles are now available to purchase & play on the Mac App Store!"

  • Added native Apple silicon executable
  • Workarounds for opening the Mac binary on various modern macOS versions and chipsets are now no longer necessary
  • Fixed the issue with the system mouse cursor visibility on MacBook models with a notch
  • Fixed the issue with the game asking to receive keystrokes from other applications
  • Save games are now stored in Library/Application Support/ScummVM. Existing saves are automatically copied over to the new location
  • Decreased min-spec to macOS 10.9.5 from 10.13 (yes, that means folks on older Macs can play these games now!)

Dead Island 2 for Mac is free on Epic!

Although the EGS page shows only the Windows version it appears that the Mac port will be released there too. The game is currently free and when I tried to download it with Heroic launcher it automatically showed the download option for Mac. I tried to download it but it downloads only the Win version. The press release last year only mentioned Mac App Store but the game has depots on Steam. Now we know that it will be on EGS too so grab it while you can if you want a free AAA Mac game later.

I read Epic and I lost interest :).

Can anyone remember the past few years approaching WWDC? It felt like there were more game announcements.

You can go to page 115 last year when it started. Yes, som games like AC Shadows and Frostpunk 2 were announced already in May, others the last week or day. WWDC is shorter this year so maybe they're keeping the news for that day to fill out the schedule. Following games were annonced last year:

Resident Evil Biohazard
Resident Evil 2
Control UE
Robocop Rogue City
Palworld
Dead Island 2
Civilization VII
Prince of Persia: Lost Crown
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Sniper Elite 4
Valheim
Frostpunk 2
Riven Remake
Wuthering Waves

Borderlands 2 for Mac is free on Steam. It works on Apple Silicon, both in Sonoma 14.7.2 and Sequoia 15.3.1. The loading times are fast in Sonoma but the performance is a bit lower, still around 50-60 fps at 4K Highest with UHD textures on Mac Studio M1 Max 24c. In Sequoia the loading times are so long that you think the game is frozen but if you wait up to 30 s it works. The performance is a bit better though. about 70 fps at 4K.

Ogu and the Secret Forest for Mac is free on Epic.

I hope everyone buys Hitman on macOS so First Light could be ported.

Also interested in seeing if it actually ships this summer, assuming they are using the Switch 2 codebase.

Mirage 7 is planned for Mac.

I guess CP 2077 will come in Autumn with the release of macOS Tahoe with Metal 4.

"macOS Tahoe introduces Apple Games, a dedicated app that gives players a home for all their games, making it easier to jump back into favorites, discover new games tailored just for them, and play with friends in whole new ways. With the new Game Overlay, players can conveniently adjust their system settings, chat with friends, or invite them to play, all without having to leave their game. Players can also turn on Low Power Mode, which extends gaming sessions and maximizes playtime on battery. For developers, macOS Tahoe introduces Metal 4, which brings even more advanced graphics and next-generation rendering technologies to games, like MetalFX Frame Interpolation and MetalFX Denoising, for smoother visuals and faster frame rates.

Alongside these improvements, developers continue to deliver exciting new games on Mac, including upcoming titles like Crimson Desert and InZOI. Both games leverage powerful software technologies like MetalFX Upscaling to accelerate performance and deliver high-quality visuals, as well as take advantage of the M3 and M4 family of chips with ray tracing for a breathtaking experience. Additional titles on the way include Cyberpunk 2077, Cronos: The New Dawn, Architect: Land of Exiles, Lies of P: Overture, HITMAN World of Assassination, EVE Frontier, Where Winds Meet, and more."

InZOI finally arrived but they need to polish it more and make it more worth it since I don't think it's hackable as the Sims 4 is. And less creepy too.
