I think this is what you get, some good titles, some old titles. Player base just not big enough for developers to invest. And be real a console and playing on your big TV is great and not that expensive, hard to beat that or something like a steam deck.So given the relative brevity the topic of gaming during today's keynote speech - what are people's thoughts. I won't lie, I was expecting more, and more of an emphasis stating that they're fully committed to pursuing gaming on Macs. I'm not saying they're not committed, I was just expecting/hoping a bigger focus
InZOI early access is available on Steam now, seems like there is no Mac Depot on Steam so it seems probable that the macOS version is going to be App Store only. Which means no beta testing on macOS so (some/potential) issues won't be "fixed" at launch.Nobody knows right now.
Which is dumb, Switch 2 doesn't have frame gen and it got a release (that was announced AFTER the macOS version). This DLSS4 like Frame gen is prolly why CP2077 is not released yet, hence why Assassin's creed shadows not performing as it should some new features in Metal 4. Real curious and hope it is true.
There was a list?Yeah I am happy to see Metal 4 but the list of games is disappointing to say the least. I’m guessing the Capcom streak is done.

That is cool marketing speak for a game that was supposed to come out early 2025... Seems like it didn't speed it up enough, 😅.
And yes I understand that apparently the macOS version could not be released without Frame Gen and denoising for Path Tracing.
They’re referencing App submissions/updates to the App Store. In other words, ‘please update new apps/games to Apple Silicon instead of relying on Rosetta.’ Rosetta itself isn’t going anywhere any time soon.Rossetta 2 is getting phased out but apparently will still work for Intel games? Wonder how that will be implemented and impact Wine and friends.

Is this the first time that Apple's officially announced the 3-year support policy? That's my undestanding too. Beyond macOS 27 you can't use Rosetta for making new apps/games for Intel Macs with Xcode, like Paradox Interactive which makes only x86 Mac ports of its titles. All new apps must be made for ARM64 but old apps will still work.

What I don't get is that Sony and Apple are adding support for PSVR2 controllers on visionOS and improving Dual Sense pairing on multiple devices, WHY THE HELL IS NOT SONY PORTING THEIR GAMES TO MACOS ?
Mostly because it could have been out before the Switch 2 version that we learned about after the macOS version that has came out before said macOS version. How did you come to that conclusion? I highly doubt the game will require macOS Tahoe with Metal 4. It means it has to run on Sequoia and perhaps Sonoma without MetalFX FI, Denoising. I also expect it to run on M1/M2 without Path Tracing like AC Shadow. This all means it could be released sooner but they wanted to include all features from the start for the best experience unlike AC Shadows. The game is not new so they didn't have to hurry for a simultaneous release.
If I remember this right, it was like pulling teeth to get Sony Japan to agree to put anything on PC. So it is likely they are using Steam stats to determine what hardware to target, and well it doesn't paint a good picture for macOS support. Getting Dualsense and PSVR2 controller support is light work on Sony's end (I'd bet Apple did all the heavy lifting here) and they get to sell more accessories at a nice profit (aka win/win).Could be a work in progress, though I feel like we’d have heard something by now. You’re right though, it is unfortunate we haven’t had a deeper partnership between Sony and Apple considering how many games Sony has brought to PC.
They would sell A LOT MORE accessories if people have access to experiences that are vastly improved by using them. You could argue that there's Remote Play, but those people probably already have those accessories and you are just making it easier for them to use them on Apple devices. If I remember this right, it was like pulling teeth to get Sony Japan to agree to put anything on PC. They probably could, but it likely would cost them more in on going support and porting than they would make back from folks buying the game. And actually most Playstation Studios games run pretty decently using GPTK out of the box. It can't be THAT hard to actually make a decent port. They can even outsource the porting to another studio. It makes absolutely no sense to me. It's a win-win for them.
