How does it prevent cheating? It's primarily interesting for match making, isn't it? Ignoring gimmicks like XP and dropped items.

Prime Matchmaking is a completely separate queue from the regular free to play matchmaking, so because you have to pay for it it's a barrier against cheaters, as when a cheater gets banned if they wanna cheat in Prime Matchmaking again they gotta phony up more money, but Valve will know who made the transaction and see it's a cheater they banned and promptly ban them again.

I checked it out a while ago, but can't say I'm overly hyped after the initial "wow". I'm too old now for competitive gaming, it just takes up too much time. I might play a little once it's a better experience, but can't see myself getting into it again. I will however watch some tournaments again in the near future.

You know Counter Strike Global Offensive added co-op missions, both official and custom made.

Maybe. Anyone who want's to cheat will do it. Custom versions are available and few are caught for cheating at the time they do it, but rather bragging about it eventually. There were lots of invite-only forums back in the day with offerings to code custom hacks. We've seen pro players at large tournaments using cheats. They were not caught back then, but later because they either bragged or people snitched on them. Then again, most people probably don't pay a few thousand bucks for hacks.

People actually play these? Interesting, never really played these and don't know anyone who did. Most people I've played with in the past were ladder players and used match making for warm ups. But good they offer it, something for everyone I guess.

You missed out on CSGO's Operations, which were big updates that lasted four months where the map pool was full of community made maps, some of these maps being really great theming like one set in a amusement part or on an oil rig, as well as co-op missions against AI, some of which being essentially full missions.

The first one was during Operation Wildfire in which it consisted of three missions set in a cement plant. You and a friend had to raid the cement plant and find evidence of the Phoenix Connection terror cell's operations.

You can replay the old missions from the concluded operations by downloading the maps from Valve's Workshop...is what I would say if it wasn't for the fact workshop support is currently missing. This launch sucks.

GUYS! COUNTER STRIKE GLOBAL OFFENSIVE'S SERVERS JUST WENT OFFLINE

IT'S HAPPENING! COUNTER STRIKE 2 IS RELEASING TODAY!

They’ve been teasing the release for today since last week

I finally got on a match just to see what all the hype was about, and it looks great, but it feels more alike than different. Then again, I only played the new Office map, which has been a part of every version of CS since the beginning.

Bro you should've seen the difference immediately. Office was one of the maps that got a complete remaster in CS2

But aside from the graphical face lift there's numerous gameplay changes under the hood. There's the new Follow Recoil option that has the reticle follow the recoil of the gun. Your body is now fully visible so you can see if you are exposed or not. Fire from molotovs and incendiaries now function like actual fire, slowly spreading and leaving marks. Biggest of all is the complete overhaul to smoke grenades to make them dynamic.

They're not very high. AMD Radeon Pro 5300M at 1.27% (2019 MacBook Pro 16 inch), AMD Radeon Pro 560X (2018 MacBook Pro, 15 inch) at 1.14%.

Radeon Pro 555X (2019 MacBook Pro 16 inch) at 0.79% and Radeon Pro 560 at 0.73% (2017 MacBook Pro, 15 inch).

So the Mac is behind Linux now? :(

Well, Steam is the only place to get both the Steam Deck and Linux games for it.

But, it can’t say anything about other store fronts and how they contribute to the broader market.

I guess the closest competitor who sells both the hardware and software obviously would be Apple.

Everspace 2 is now released for Mac. The reommended system sounds too high though. M2 Max?? Not even M1 Max? At the same time they recommend i7-4770 from 2013? Sounds very strange. And what demo? It's only for Windows. Downloaded and get the same error as CS 2.

Yes. The rise of the Mighty Penguin Empire has begun

It's not the only place. You can access your GOG and Epic Games Store games on Linux using Heroic Launcher.

You can, but you can’t get a Steam Deck from any of them. The Steam store is a unique place where you can buy both games and hardware to play them on. Apple is the closest parallel.

My point stands.

I’m hoping that it leads to more people trying Linux. Windows gets more painful with every new version and I’d like to see broader support for the platform.

Actually you can buy Steam Decks outside of Steam now. Newegg sells them, Gamestop sells refurb units, and they can be ordered through Komodo in Asia

You're gonna love Valve's rumored Project Galileo then, which you can find out more about in my thread about it here:

I know UE 4 is slower on Mac but never seen such high requirements for a game even under Rosetta. So they're saying the game doesn't support Apple Silicon natively? That's sad to hear. Lies of P does also use UE 4 but it's a native port for AS.

Do we know why Grid Legends still isn't out?

They've been porting Warhammer stuff and iOS and Switch games and now at the same time Total War: Pharaoh for Mac. Grid Legends moved down on their radar to "soon" from "quite soon" closer to release but it's embarressing now 16 months later that it's not been released yet.
