IN the toilet? :p

Haha. We call the bathroom the toilet in the uk. I'm sure he doesn't mean he will sit in the actual toilet basin :p. Then again maybe he did!

Back on topic, I really hope that MacBook updates are at this event. I'm waiting to buy my first mac. A tablet is bottom of my list! Especially if it has 2 USB ports and a sata drive. It will be massive!!

please, please, please....make it run snow leopard, ilife and iwork...even if they are stripped down editions...i need a mac again!

i DON'T need another iGadget to sync to a mac i don't have... :(

OMG! We're gonna have an updated nanos ! More colors, copy and paste, and adaptive anti-aliasing, and 0.1" thinner! You heard it hear first! Just in time for Valentine's Day

Debit card is at the ready. Give me something that doesn't require a subscription and something I can type on and I'll be first in line.

That's my birthday :) Maybe a good birthday present? Just hope I can paint with it...

The Observant, the Blind and the Unseeing

(cue 'spaghetti western' theme music)

It's interesting that there are those who insist this new device, whatever it is, will have impossible hardware and capabilities -- despite all the reports and patents to the contrary.

It's interesting that there are those who insist this new device, whatever it is, will be no different from the dozens of other 'similar' devices already on the market, despite historical evidence to the contrary with the iPod and iPhone introductions..

I'm impressed that some, at least, truly pay attention and offer a realistic concept of what this device, whatever it is, may be. Like the Man With No Name, these are the ones who will reap the rewards of their study and planning, while their opponents fall to the bullets of skillful analysis.

I, too, have been waiting for the right kind of tablet computer. A modified laptop doesn't do it for me--they simply aren't a tablet, they're a laptop without a keyboard (disregarding the flip-top models which are nothing but a laptop.) A tablet should be something you can 'write' on just as you would a clipboard with a legal pad. A tablet should be simple, graphical and easy to use, no matter where you are or what you're doing. If you have to put it down to use it, it's not a tablet.

There are those who want proof that Apple has even been working on a tablet concept; I suggest looking at the iPhone and iPod Touch--they're incomplete as tablet computers, but they include much of what has been lacking in the tablet PC world. Rumor has it that the iPhone/Touch came from preliminary studies that proved certain concepts but still lacked what was most needed to be a Tablet.

If you want to think Tablet computer, think of the PADD from the original Star Trek series; add to that the graphical touch features from Star Trek: TNG; perhaps even add the Tricorder functionality through plug-in sensor devices. Maybe then you'll get close to what a Tablet really should be. The functionality is available, only the device is missing--and Apple may be announcing it this month.

Open your eyes, you who are blind.
Look around, you who will not see.
The future is coming. Are you ready?

- iPhone 4.0 (Maybe, due to tablet launch, unless they do a March event announcing 4.0 as usual as well as tablet launch date)
- iLife and iWork update
- book store and iWork.com final
- less likely- iPhone 4G WWDC?
- less likely- 10 inch air
- More likely, but we'll see- Steve looking all healthy and not gaunt with his new ice cream diet

Many commenters on here dismiss anything that shows Apple in a negative light. Can't really blame them, it's a passionate cult that follows the

iSlate Apple event on Jan 15th in New York City

Maybe we don't have to wait another two weeks.
According to the Tiroler Tageszeitung (www.tt.com), a Swiss newspaper, the iSlate will be introduced on the 15th. This has also been cited by zdnet.de (http://www.zdnet.de/apple_macintosh...y-39002369-41525247-1.htm?DE_RECHECK_MOBILE=1). The TT based their story on the fact that the event hosting company, which usually organizes Apple's press, have no bookings by Apple around the 25-27 th.

Let's hope..

If a new touchscreen interface is introduced then turn your Apple wireless keyboard over and just look at it. It will be about 3/4 the size and almost as thin!:)
