Exactly. I am planning a 13 Pro Max battery replacement to get it back to 100%. That's my upgrade path this year.

I've still got an iPhone 8 that I've replaced the battery on (twice) in 6 years. Honestly, if the phone does everything you need it to do, it's much better to do a battery replacement than to buy a new phone.

I'll upgrade this year purely for the camera, since I also need to replace a DSLR and the Pro Max should be good enough to do the job of both.

I did the same years ago and I will share my experience. I had the original iPhone and upgraded into the 6s. I felt the battery life wasn’t enough so I decided to get an Android. I got the Samsung so I could swap out batteries. Android OS was definitely more customizable. Pretty cool but it just didn’t seem as smooth as iOS. Also, apps keep crashing and it would slow to a crawl and I needed to reboot every other day. I rarely have to reboot my iPhone. Eventually, Samsung decided to follow the iPhone and make sealed batteries too. This was about 3-4 years. Also, another super annoying thing was all my friends had iPhones. Trying to SMS to an iMessage group chat is super annoying. The SMS is always delayed and creates new groups. So annoying that my friends removed me from group chats. Lol. Something to consider. I switched back and got the iPhone X. I was amazed at the battery life. The OS in general is so much smoother. I will stick with the iPhone unless Android does something revolutionary.
Well Android has folding phones, that’s revolutionary. But you couldn’t pay me to switch to Android, I’m sticking with all the different Apple OSs…👍🏻

Tim Cook: We hear you. iPhone Pro starts at $1200 with 256GB of storage!
256GB is rumored to be the new base capacity and if you combine the rumored price hike with that rumor, the result would be $1200. So it would be a $100 increase over the current 256GB 14 Pro, but $200 over the previous “cheapest” iPhone you could buy.

I am wealthy and can afford the newest iPhone model. But I am also hardworking and has a deep sense of financial value. Yes I am locked into the Apple system, which I sometimes regret because it may possibly be nicer to explore “Google Pay” but I do accept its Apple reality and Apple convenience so I will continue to elect myself into this iOS for many decades to come via iPad, AirPods, Apple Pay and MacBook.
Regarding the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I have a deep cultural affinity with the gold color and this color alone is honestly enough to make me upgrade. The rumor mongerers say there is no Gold Color, therefore my emotional urge to upgrade is null and void. Regarding the USB—C, Bezel and all that extra technical nonsense, it’s all secondary to me as long as the Battery Life is decent (I have not had any iPhone battery issues since iPhone 4, and replaced by the Local Apple Store.) Lastly, pondering on the financial value of this upgrade, I truly feel that my current iPhone 13 Pro Max has been worth my money paid based on my personal situations with my carrier, and I view it as already justified to upgrade or keep to sell. I can also choose to trade in the device for a juicy trade—in offer, but the fact that there is no gold color on this iPhone 15 year is a deal breaker for me. Now, the higher cost of the iPhone 15 can also depend if that 256GB is really an “issue” which it’s the same rate amount I would have paid anyway if Apple pushed that space capacity as the minimum Gigabyte level for sale. But since there is no gold color, and the improvements are not so much different than the iPhone 13 Pro Max, why bother to upgrade for this new device? So that I can be charged the U.S. 10% Tax in L.A. and the $35 waivable fee by AT&T? Is this worth the headache? F No. It does not even come in my desired Gold color. I am also coming to the wisdom that having an older iPhone by means of pushing against on purchasing the newest and greatest is better for the average consumer but the trade—in offers generously offered by American telecarriers at this present time is another great reason why I have succumbed to upgrades—providing it comes with my desired gold color. Wrong or right, this is my Opinion. No iPhone 15 Pro Max for me.
I wonder what went wrong with the gold titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max. Given its popularity in Asia and elsewhere, I’m sure they tested it. Maybe they’ll figure out the technical issues with the gold titanium in time for the 16 Pro/Ultra?

With the "Pro" phones increasing in price (and thickness), the "standard" phones are seeming more and more appealing, though I wish they weren't being deliberately nerfed by not including a higher refresh rate.

As someone with a non-Pro 13, I'm not sure that I want to wait until 2025 to experience 120Hz. 🤔

iPhone has been around a LONG time. How often has it become more expensive? And how often has it become less expensive? Based on the absolute clarity of history, place your bets.
The iphone has been around for a long time, but in it's time I don't remember the price ever coming down. Always going up and up!! For the prices of some of these models you can get a really decent macbook for that price

Tone deaf from Apple. Many many countries are suffering economic difficulties due to what has taken place in the world and Apple decides to up the price of their next iphone model. The world has lot's of millionaires and billionaires. I doubt Apple is worried about price hikes though.
iPhone Pro is not a “need” product, no iPhone is a need product(and if you think it is, there and much, much cheaper versions that Apple sells), and if your having any kind of economic difficulties you should t be upgrading your phone.
Thats like complaining if BMW increased the price of their M3, while “many countries are suffering economic difficulties”.

$1,099? Pah! That will absolutely be like €1600 EUR or so in the EU (which back converts to $1,726 USD). Insane price gouging. (Don't waste your time trying to convince me otherwise, I've heard all the BS arguments over and over. Try living here and make those same dumb excuses.)

Well, at least they haven't gone full Mac Pro yet and tried to charge, say, $3500 for the Pro model lol.

Most of Apples customers are normal average everyday people. Unless these millionaires and billionaires are buying a few hundred of these phones each, it’s us that give Apple their profits and they are doing their best to price us out of the market.

I paid $1,199 for my 256GB 14 Pro Max, so a $1,199 price for the entry 15 Pro Max with 256GB would be exactly the same. They would not actually be raising the price as much as eliminating a lower tier. This will affect the ASP and drive revenue higher on less volume. Quite smart.

Quite smart as long as those who were buying the most lucrative lower tier then buy the new higher priced lower tier. It’s going to affect many peoples purchasing decision and I hope it is significant for all of our sakes.

Wow. At that price the iPhone Pro Max should include an Apple Pencil.

Will be eye watering here, 14 256gb pro max already $2099AU, our dollar is 65c now v 70c v US$ this time last year, and inflation. Mortgage the house.

Yeah, I’m not paying more for slightly upgraded internals + USB C.

I see Samsung phones are $300 off at Best Buy right now. I may actually upgrade to one of those this year since I can get better hardware for less.
Please buy one and go onto a Samsung forum to express your superiority, thanks! 🐮

And this is why people are going to stop buying iPads. They’re cannibalising the iPad for the iPhone. And Macs are rockstars after moving away from Intel.

It’s over for the iPad people.
Especially when the prices of iPads nowadays are pretty much the same as the prices of iPhones, especially if you’re buying the pro models.

And phones are a necessity in this day & age; iPads aren’t. Another thing is that iPads are also in competition with iMacs & MacBooks.

Unless Apple finds a way to completely differentiate iPads from the rest, they’ll start going the way of iPods & iPod Touch’s (& they used to be popular back in the day).
