This is good. It’s sad when it’s possible to pay more for a Galaxy phone. It should hopefully be possible for Apple to charge more than the Galaxy Fold now. Just talking billionaire-to-billionaire, I always prefer to own the most expensive phone on the planet. Now I’m not showy so I don’t want a regular old iPhone with a diamond embellishment or gold plating. I’m looking forward to the price bump!

???

£ GBP & € EUR price seems to go up every 2 years, so why wouldn't this year be any different when the 15 series is predicted to cost a lot more to assemble per unit?

Maybe the US will get their long overdue price increase like the rest of us. At least it will feel like the rest of the world isn't subsidising US customers for a change.

You do realise that if the US sees a price increase then so will the rest of the world? And because the base US price is higher, this year’s price increase outside the US might be the biggest yet. Apple is not going to make iPhones cost the same in the US as in the rest of the world ever.

Most people don't even need a pro model. Most people use their iPhones daily for FaceTime, social media, and streaming. Apple knows people will buy no matter if there's a price increase because they don't really have a competitor. It's a status symbol with the pro model Most people see the three cameras and pay monthly with their carrier then they offer a "free upgrade"

I know. We are used to regular extortionate price increases. Not just on iPhone/Mac hardware units but also for CTO items like RAM, Storage etc. Last & this years hike was so severe it would make your nose bleed.

This price hike has been warned for at least the past two years, but I’m afraid this year will be true.

It makes sense, because this year we’re getting a whole new design and material for the smartphone body (titanium), a SoC built on an industry leading process (the first chip manufactured at 3nm) and smaller additions such as the action button and the new USB-C port.

This year’s Pro iPhone is a really big change from what we had previously, and that usually means price increase by Apple’s rules.

The rest of the world isn't "subsidizing" U.S. customers. Don't forget that there were two years in a row (2020 and 2021) of Pro model price REDUCTIONS in at least parts of Europe (like the UK) even though U.S. prices had remained the same. By not getting price reductions in the U.S. in 2020 and 2021, I suppose U.S. customers were "subsidizing" countries that did see price reductions??

Even with last year's price increase, the UK starting prices of the 14 Pro and Pro Max are only £50 more than what the starting prices of the 11 Pro and Pro Max were back in 2019.

I may be a regular person but, I feel pro at heart. As such, I still like getting the pro model. If I got the regular version like so many, I would feel my self-identity slipping away into the Apple abyss. lol

j/k

I have elected to sit out the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or top model with a different name) upgrade. The new periscope lens needs a season to be tested by consumers. So the trickle down of the iPhones from me to the wife to the kids will be delayed a year. No one will suffer with what they currently hold.
I’m in the same boat. Kids are rocking 13 pro. They will be fine for another year.

Man, the iPhone 14 Pro is already €1326 or $1430 (tax included) in Europe. If they raise again I think there’s going to be a lot of people thinking twice about buying a 15 Pro and maybe opt for the regular 15 instead (or skip an upgrade completely).

Apple seems to be taking lessons from the Disney School of Pricing. In the U.S., $999 for an iPhone Pro? A bit steep, but still digestible. But in the UK, that same price skyrockets to £1099 ($1387). So UK customers are shelling out nearly $400 extra just to get their hands on an iPhone. And if Apple's considering jacking up prices further? Add another $100 and the UK's price disparity could soar to a whopping $500 difference. All this for the same phone.

If Apple continues this trajectory, they might soon find themselves sliding down the same slippery slope as Disney, watching profits dwindle.

It may get more expensive, but at the same time, it may also get less expensive. No one really knows. There's always two sides to one story

The only reason I carry a pro is for the extra optical zoom. I like taking the best picture I can take. That doesn’t mean I take great pictures but they are the best I can take. I’m really considering going back to the regular model maybe next year.

I don't know, a Fold 5 (512Gb, which is the best value) is CHF1382 ($1561) and it was just launched - while an iPhone 14 Pro Max, a year old phone with the same storage is CHF1434 ($1620). These are the best prices in Switzerland as I type. If you were to buy directly from Apple for example, the iPhone would be CHF1659 ($1874).

It's much cheaper to get a Samsung, in general. And they have great Black Friday deals too, I got a Flip 4 last year as a second phone for ~CHF700, which was seriously discounted from its list price and it was only a couple of months after launch. iPhones aren't really discounted, at least not so early. It takes a while for the prices to go slowly down.

I've pretty much decided that I'm done with the Pro models. Especially if they keep producing the Plus models. I just don't need the high-end camera anymore, and that was the main reason. Curious to see where they last on pricing, though. I could change my mind. Wouldn't mind upgrading my 11 Pro Max, but I don't really need to, either...

That's not a fair comparison as the UK price includes VAT while the U.S. price doesn't include potential state and/or local sales tax. You can't blame Apple for what governments may charge in purchase taxes (sales tax, GST, VAT, etc.). When the 14 Pro launched last year, the pre-sales tax starting price in the U.S. was $999 and the pre-VAT starting price in the UK was around £915 which at the time was equal around $980 USD. Pretty much the same price in USD.

Lots of people in the UK seem to like to complain about iPhone Pro model price increases but forget that there were two years in a row (2020 and 2021) when UK prices actually DROPPED even though U.S. prices had remained the same. The reality is that even with last year's price increase, the UK starting prices of the 14 Pro and Pro Max are only £50 (including VAT) higher than what the starting prices of the 11 Pro and Pro Max were back in 2019.
