Trading in my 12 Pro to cover any price increase. $100 is $4.16/mo extra over 24 months. A $200 increase still won't sway me. Bring on the 15 Pro Max.
I’m either trading in my 14PM or selling it at Decluttr, towards the 15PM to offset the cost some. That’s why a price increase doesn’t upset me as much as other people. I am going to pay outright, but with the trade in or sell to Decluttr, I won‘t be paying the full price.

You know that all these rumors are being planted by Apple themselves to gauge the market and dampen the shock when the higher prices are released. See these rumors as a form of guerilla survey tactic. Apple receives free and very honest feedback on all the social media channels when these "rumors" are posted.

Just throwing this out there, from Barron last week:
"Barron’s calculated the cost of the original iPhone in today’s dollars using the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ inflation calculator. In 2007, $499 would have the equivalent purchasing power of roughly $730 today. Effectively, the new iPhone—with all its bells and whistles—could end up costing about $70 more than the original iPhone.

Furthermore, the new iPhone could be cheaper than the base models of the iPhone 11, 12, 13, and 14 on an inflation-adjusted basis. In today’s dollars, all of those devices cost more than $800."
...
"A new iPhone with a more advanced camera, additional storage, and faster speeds at essentially the same price point as the original iPhone could spur “a renaissance of growth [for Apple stock] over the next 12 to 18 months,” Ives says."

It doesn't feel that way, things feel more expensive, but that is the insidious nature of inflation: it is a hidden tax on everything and the people who feel it the most are at the lower end of the income spectrum.

16 years of inflation, even without the last few years being higher adds up.

There are people out there paying more than 100k for an iPhone 1st gen. 2k for the latest iPhone is an amazing deal.

Most people don't even need a pro model. Most people use their iPhones daily for FaceTime, social media, and streaming. Apple knows people will buy no matter if there's a price increase because they don't really have a competitor. It's a status symbol with the pro model Most people see the three cameras and pay monthly with their carrier and get brainwashed when they offer a "free upgrade"
We must know different people. I think it’s rather a bold claim to throw out so many things about “most people”. Many of my friends and family enjoy taking photographs and videos. Having yearly camera upgrades can make a difference depending on the year. I know of no friends or family members who view an iPhone as a status symbol.

The real insult to injury point will be making you buy a separate thunderbolt cable to take full advantage of that shiny new USB-C port.
Assuming a thunderbolt cable costs more to manufacture, it doesn’t make sense to include one in every box when only a small percentage of users will use the port for data and care about the higher speed. Just my opinion.

Every vendor and supplier just keep pushing us and pushing us to see how far we will go before we decide to spend our money elsewhere, or not spend it at all.
Going to be an unpopular opinion on here, but I just started a trial period on an S23 Ultra. The hardware is absolutely gorgeous, the OS takes some getting used to, but I may make the switch for a year of so until Apple can come up with something far and above better than what the next iteration os iPhone is going to be.

I don't like Samsung's OS flavour, but I've been impressed with their hardware offerings of late. I'm just too deep into the Apple ecosystem to get out of it for work and family life. They have their hooks in me, however any big price increases means I will buy phones less often, or second hand.

I have a feeling iPhones are gonna replace wedding rings.
I give you this iPhone Ultra 2 TB as a symbol of my everlasting love for you. You will likely get 5 guaranteed iOS upgrades.
So, divorce after 5 years?
