I really dislike the apple store bag they give you to walk out with your purchase. It's a big white bag, big apple logo makes it so conspicuous. I'd Usain Bolt to my car every time.

Apple should change the apple bag to like a thank you plastic bag.

Something does not add up here. I don't know if it was discussed (I did not go through all 12 pages of the topic) but 300 iPhones weigh a lot. The phone alone is 174 grams. That would be 52.2 kg (115 lbs) just for the phones. Including the box, cable and everything else, total weight is probably around 200 lbs. It's hard to walk carrying that weight. Harder still when the weight is not evenly distributed on an even number of bags. 3 bags mean that he had about 130 lbs in one hand and 70 in the other. Also I wonder what bags can hold almost 70 lbs each.

Wait. Are the people who are buying the iPhones at this guy's small business paying more than retail? Otherwise, why bother if there's no profit for this guy. Unless he's able to get a lot of marked-up accessory add-on sales with them.
Almost surely they are part of some bundle of services and products he offers a niche market.

New York is the only city where a criminal can perform a kidnapping at 9 am, get arrested, get released on NO CASH BAIL and be home by 5 pm. It's a wonderful City 🤮

Handcart.

I haven't read the entire 12 page thread, so this might've been mentioned before. But the overseas markup on iPhones is pretty big, so I'd be willing to bet he's buying these to ship/sell overseas.

Where was Apple security at? He didn't even bother asking for an escort to his car.

Sounds like an inside job. Must be carrying a lot of Apple store bags.

Update: How are you able to purchase 300 iPhones instantly? Apple only allows you to buy from 1-10 iPhones at a time.

you took the time to take this screenshot, but not read one more sentence after what you quoted to find the answer to your question?

better question is: why they didnt just have the devices delivered to the business location during normal delivery hours? retrieving 300k of product in the middle of night is asking for a problem

OK so I was off by 4 homicides in San Diego. 30 is still nowhere close to almost 500. “Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said New York City finished 2020 as the most violent year in 14 years.”

The top 10 most dangerous cities in America are all Democrat-controlled and have been for many years. Some for even 3-5 decades.
You were off by a lot more than 4, but I guess you both misread the post you’re replying to and didn't read my reply to you at all..

An unnamed 27-year-old man who purchased 300 iPhones from Apple Fifth Avenue on Monday morning was robbed shortly after leaving the store, according to 1010Wins Radio in New York.

applefifthavenue.jpg

He was carrying 300 iPhone 13s in three bags and walking to his car at 1:45 a.m. when another car pulled up next to him. Two men jumped out and demanded that he hand over the bags. Not wanting to hand over 300 iPhones, the victim put up a fight and was ultimately punched in the face before thieves made off with one of the bags.

The bag contained 125 iPhones that were worth $95,000. Police said the man in question often made large iPhone purchases from the Fifth Avenue Store in order to resell them through his small business. It is not clear why he was making the purchase at 1:00 in the morning, nor whether he was specifically targeted based on past purchasing habits.

Apple's Fifth Avenue location is open 24 hours a day, allowing for the early morning purchases. Apple also had a Black Friday sale going on at the time, which the thieves may have been aware of.

The NYPD is investigating the robbery, and the victim was not seriously injured. A description of the suspects and their vehicles has not yet been released.

One word:

LOLOLOLOOLOLOLLLOLOLOLOL

This story is absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Why would someone be walking with 300 iPhones worth $228,000 so early in morning by himself? Thats crazy.
He had just bought them and needed to reach his car, and it was early morning and he didn't want to wait until later to leave the shop.

Fun math:

33 iPhone 13 Pro boxes can fit inside a single brown shopping bag from a food store. (3 boxes by side across, 11 boxes high)

300 iPhones divided by 33 is 9.090. That's barely more than 9 brown store bags.

Imagine trying to carry them with two hands! 😆

Interesting, an iPhone 14 with packaging weighs in at around 320 grams (0,7 lb). So one bag with 125 of them would stop the scale at 40 kg (88 lb). And he carried 3 bags alone. OK...

In most circumstances these sorts of transactions do not take place. Apple used to have very strict policies on bulk purchases as they were trying to avoid scalpers shipping devices off to China for sale on the grey market. That and export laws being potentially violated as a result. Something may have changed policy wise at Apple, but I doubt it was for the better.

Maybe Apple has too much inventory. Especially from the 13.

Until the full story is known victim blaming is really out of order just like the terms 'he deserved it' etc. etc.

As a small business owner I've had to collect stuff at inconvenient and all hours of the day, it happens.

What amazes me is comments relying on the media story?

How accurate have we found the media in recent years!

Anyone ever been in an accident or incident ever read the media report about it....often its pure fantasy on the part of the journalist.

What an idiot. Just order online and get it safely delivered to your house.

I know we shouldn't have to do this but I don't expect to be walking into a bad council estate drenched in Gucci and a Rolex at 11pm around gangs and expect not to get robbed.
