My fiancee's 38mm SG sport had a chip on the screen. After some back and forth with customer service, we finally got a manager to ship a replacement out. That's out for delivery today. We dropped the bad one off at FedEx last night.

I hope the replacement is a full watch. No one told us anything about just sending back the face.

Do you have AppleCare? Apple is trying to make me get AppleCare before they will ship a replacement without receiving mine first. I really don't like the idea of sending mine out, waiting for them to receive, then shipping me back a replacement - I might just wait until the Genius Bars have stock to get mine replaced instead.

No AppleCare. I may buy it in the near future though.

The initial calls did not go well. My girlfriend made all of the calls, but according to her the first call was "we will ship you a new one and when you get it, ship the bad one back". The next day UPS showed up expecting a shipment pickup with nothing to deliver.

She called back and was told that there are no watches to send, she will have to send in the defective one and wait until June for the replacement. She also received a free lesson on supply and demand. That did not go over well.

She asked to speak to a supervisor and after explaining that while we understand that there may not be any watches available to replace defective ones, it sucks to pay $350 in late April and not get anything until June. That supervisor said he would call back within 24 hours.

After 24 hours went by with no call, she called back. I received an email shortly after that with a return shipping label. A couple of hours later I received a shipping notice with a tracking number.

So it was a bit painful, but the replacement is out for delivery.

Good luck on your return.

So, my replacement unit has no problem on screen but a side button at this time.
Side button wiggles and rattles, Digital Crown is less smooth as previous one.
I called Apple Support and they set a new Express Replacement.

Oh btw, Apple Support rep said that the replacement units will be available in stock at Apple Store as early as May 18th.

Holy hell you sound picky. I'm sure that if that was your first unit you wouldn't know the differences, buttons and knobs are going to behave differently from unit to unit. You are the reasons warranties get more and more expensive.

I've been to Apple Store to talk to the genius today. They saw what's on the screen and try to figure out what to do next. Since there're no replacement units in store, my genius tried not to send it in to support center, which in case that I will be without my watch for couple of days. Instead, he made a phone call to an apple care support engineer located in TX, brought my watch to take some pictures of the part that has defect and send those photos to the engineer.

At last, I got a phone call from TX to set up for an express replacement. They put an hold on my credit card and will send me a replacement to my home address with return box. The replacement watch is heading on the way, will arrive in between this Weds - Thu. :D

Did you happen to return the beautiful white box that came with the watch? I just got my replacement a few mins ago and I am wondering if I can just return the watch with that gorgeous box. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The forum member you quoted was last seen almost four months ago. I doubt Apple will exchange boxes. But they are durable and help with resale.
