Yeah, that's why i do it, too. :D
But the thing is i kinda got used to the comfort and power of a big Mercedes. When i drive a cheap car like my wife's VW or the car i got from work (a Mondeo) i feel like i've gone back in time 15 years and i appreciate my S Class even more.

The same with the iPhone. I initially got it to show off (they weren't sold here until the 4 i believe), but now i can't use another phone even if i know they're technically better.

I agree with you. What's flashy becomes standard. iPhone is just standard these days. I couldn't switch to anything less. IMO android isn't as good or as fashionable.

A Mercedes doesn't exactly stand out...heck I probably passed 20 or 30 in my 10 minute commute home this evening.
Yeah, they don't stand out, that's the idea. I think the iPhone is in the same situation. It's not flashy like some phones back in the day (those weird nokias with dual slide keyboards or the one with rotating keyboard or the moto razr), it looks simple, elegant and understated.

And that's why so many people keep buying them, personally when i want to buy a new car/phone i don't even bother to check what other manufacturers have, i go straight into the Benz dealership/Apple Store.

But what will you do when Apple eventually goes out of fashion? When there is a new product that the celebrities start using because they get paid the premium to do so? And it catches on as a trend. Will you abandon Apple? Or will you stay with Apple because it is your standard? People will likely perceive you as old and outdated. What if Apple becomes that 15 year old VW?

When you do this, exactly what Benz do you come home with?

It was an almost outdated LG G pro 2, cheap and the price is around an average hardware (not top) China brand android phone but good enough for anything. Why do you buy Iphone 6s/6s plus but not much cheaper android phone? I think this is a very interesting Psychology question.

Psychology has very little to do with why I have an iPhone.

1. It works better. Most of the mobile device support I do is with people having issues with Android phones. Aside from initial setup, I rarely see iPhone users with problems.

2. It's supported better. If I DO have a hardware problem with my iPhone, I can make an appointment at the Apple Store and get it fixed, on the spot. That's all there is to it.

OS updates are also easy to get, as soon as Apple releases them. With Android, it's usually a waiting game for the carrier to approve it. Which brings me to #3

3. The experience is better. I don't like having to deal with carrier stores. Every time I go into one, there's someone on commission trying very hard to ignore your problem, and instead sell you something that will fatten up their paycheck. This is a sales model that the carriers have instituted, and it's turned the device purchase/upgrade experience into a big game between sales person and customer: How can I keep my plan without some sales guy switching me to something more expensive, so they can get a bonus? How many times must I say no to features I don't want (but will get added anyway, without my permission), or accessories I don't need?

With Apple, I've cut down my need to interact with cell carriers to the bare minimum. Every time I buy a new phone, it's directly through Apple, who already is getting my money and doesn't turn their staff into hungry sales droids who want to extract the most cash out of you each chance they get.

4. Yup, it just works. Even among the people who have complained about lag or graphics glitches in IOS, most will still agree that their phones work better than comparative Android devices. Otherwise, they'd just leave for Android and we'd never heard from them again. There's no carrier bloat or interference in the software. The functions are integrated well. I don't have to worry about whether an app I want will work with my phone or not. And I use my phone as a tool to get stuff done. So I like the fact that it continues to work reliably, instead of me having to tweak it constantly.

There are some people buy iPhone because of image or glamour. Yeah, okay, whatever works. But I personally don't care what people see me using. I buy it because it works for me.

My digital life at home is all within the Apple ecosystem. All my gear talks to each other so it wouldn't be convenient to have an outside phone. That only leaves me with iPhones. And since it has to be an iPhone, I would get the best model. It's a device you spend the most time with and is always with you. It's the item you interact with on so many levels, why not get the best one if its the most important device you own?

Smartphones have transformed from phones that have a touchscreen and can do some extra stuff to full-fledged mini computers. I view my iPhone not so much as having a phone, but as the mini computer that I carry with me everywhere. I use it for so many different things. As such, I buy the mini computer that works best for me. I don't mind spending $700-$900 for a mini computer that I get several hours of use from each day for at least 2 years.

I still use a MacBook for some tasks (I'm sure I'll need to have one for the foreseeable future), but it isn't always with me and certainly isn't as convenient for some tasks.

Why you dont like 6 plus? I think 6s plus fix important part like not easy bend anymore, but just nothing really new and creative.

Ok I love this statement above.

new case, new processor, new graphics processor, new camera, new display with new input system? So what exactly is the same other than the shape?

I will say, in regards to fashion and style that the Samsung Galaxy devices are good looking. I hate to say it but I would carry an S6 Edge+ if the UI wasn't so bad.

I may be in the minority's, especially for my age (30) but I'd drive an original big any day. Sure it isn't luxurious, or quiet, or a bunch of other things. But you can fix it with a screwdriver and duct tape. Lol

From an end user perspective, probably not a lot. There are a ton of people who say their 6 plus doesn't perform badly. I've never seen one that was smooth, but that's just one man's opinion.

I think the average consumer (not enthusiast) just doesn't see a huge difference one year to the other. There's nothing wrong with that.

The S6 Edge+ looks nice on display, but as soon as it gets handled there are fingerprint smudges all over it. I've never seen a phone that gathered smudges so quickly and so easily, and it looks particularly bad with the mirrored surface.

And then there's that horrible TouchGarbage going on...

I find that incredibly sad.
Nothing wrong with that, IMO. This just goes to show that there are intangible benefits to owning a particular product that goes beyond hardware specs. This seems to be something the OP here seems to have problems understanding, much less understanding.

At the end of the day, it's our money, it's our choice to spend it as we deem fit.

I think this is a funny phrase, especially since a lot of this forum is full of stuff on apple devices that don't work.
He is simply saying that it works for him, not that it will work for everyone in the world. If I am happy with my Apple devices, I will continue using them. Why do I care again that some guy I don't know is experiencing crashing problems with his iPhone 6S+ if I am not getting a similar issue and it is working well for me? How does it change or affect my own user experience again?

Fashion is ALWAYS changing. For example, Razr

Exactly. And if one wants to be practical, smartphones all serve the same basic purpose. Why not pick the most fashionable one?

Android doesn't have iMessage. Now you tell me, how does it look to your date, sending her ugly green bubbles?

When she sees that *more-than-likely* ugly android phone she'll wonder why...

I don't get why android people buy android. Just buy iPhone. Everyone is using iPhone these days. It's the latest greatest and by far the coolest. It's fun showing off and being in. I don't see why anyone would need any more reason. Who cares about RAM and all that other stuff? Does it text? Send emails? Surf the web? That's all I care about and need.

At the end of the day, it's a PHONE. I don't see why there's so much animosity here.

You can't possibly be serious? "Ugly green bubbles"? Your argument is the epitome of "status symbol", like the people who only buy a certain clothing brand because "it's in." It's a total lack of individuality and a desire to be in the "in crowd". I think your date would be less impressed by your desire to be "cool" than the color of text messages.

If you do work with your phone (business person here), then things like RAM, battery, space etc. ALL MATTER.

BTW, Android DOES have iMessage alternatives. MySMS is one that I use and works fine.

Again, I love Apple products, I just hate stupid arguments.

RAM and all doesn't matter. People complain the 6+ has less RAM yet you will never miss it. Don't get caught up with the tech jargon. It's a waste of time. In the end, does the product work well? Yes. That's what matters. Regarding fashion, I'm a social person. I go on dates. All my friends and everyone for that matter uses iPhone. It's important to me not to be the odd ball out. It matters if you have a social life. If you aren't social, android is fine. But people who have a lot of friends will need an iPhone. Android does not have the same "cool" factor. And that's because Androids are generally pretty ugly. The curved Samsung is an exception.

They matter up to a certain point. Beyond that, if the user feels that any excess specs is redundant, I think it's okay if they start sacrificing specs in favour of other features like aesthetics.

I don't think it's a stupid argument. Why do people need to wear a suit and tie to work in a office when it doesn't really affect the quality of my work? Looks do matter, and what Apple has done here is create a product that both works great and looks great. People don't have to compromise here.

The real stupid argument is insisting that only hardware specs matter. In a nutshell, not everything that can be measured matters, just as not everything which matters can be measured.

This is really some inspired trolling.

I buy most of my hardware based off of just things I like and things that have worked for me in the past.
I've owned every iPhone since #1 and they have not let me down, I am quite happy nestled in my Apple ecosystem and it works quite well for my style. Since I am happy I won't plan on jumping ship any time soon.
I am very much a creature of habit though.

I buy the same brand of water, shoes, trucks, jeans, paint, tape, toilet paper, the list goes on.
