Yay. Stock apps are removable. But not all, it seems

I don't think you're actually deleting them. Just look at how short of time it takes to reinstall them.

Personally I like most of apples built in apps. But I still like this decision by apple to focus on being a platform. Some people will use google maps, Spotify, Evernote, etc... And that's that, no forcing them over.

Looks like they still come pre-installed, keeping it easy to support other people's iPhones as long have they haven't changed it too much.

Can someone delete the mail app and then try to send an email through the link.

Or install a 3rd party app and show us if it forces to the new mail app.

During today's keynote, Apple released several new apps into the App Store under their developer account. Curiously, the apps are all stock iOS apps that presently come pre-installed under iOS 9.

The list includes:

- Weather
- Stocks
- Mail
- Maps
- Notes
- Voice Memos
- Watch
- Music
- FaceTime
- Weather
- iTunes Store
- Calendar
- Contacts
- Videos
- Calculator
- Compass
- Tips

If you try to download an existing iOS app, the "Get" button is greyed out, indicating you already have the app. Our best guess is that in iOS 10, you will be allowed to delete stock apps and re-download them from the App Store later. Alternatively, this will allow Apple to update these apps independently of iOS updates. iOS 10 is available under developer beta today.

I'm hoping we can install default apps that we choose. And I hope we get dark mode!

It means that these apps will finally be available for iPad, even if they're iPhone app sized. Native weather and calculator are notorious omissions on the iPad.
