while they can update data any time as it is a service, I wonder if maybe there are some structural / procedural changes they are making and will release a broad set of changes at once. Fixing individual problems is easy but time-consuming. Fixing systematic problems is harder but pays long term dividends

I'm hoping anyway......

None of the items that I have submitted have been corrected. Some of them I reported way back in the ios6 betas.

It's been about a month since iOS 6 was released to the public. While the app itself is a huge leap forward, poor map data has dogged it since launch day. Apple has said that the more you use Maps, the better it will get. In theory, data quality should have begun to improve on day one as people reported errors around them and businesses added themselves into arguably one of the most important tools for helping customers find them.

I'm in Toronto and have found the maps app to be more or less rich in points of interest although it looks like address pinpointing need to be calibrated because almost every address pin is off by between 30-50 yards. I did encounter some spelling or naming errors and a busy gas station is missing from the map while a oil change service station is incorrectly labelled as a gas station (with a pump icon).

I've submitted those errors on day one and none of them are fixed. I even submitted them in both Yelp and Maps and still no fix.

Have you found any of your error reports to have been corrected?

This thread is to list errors that Maps has corrected that you reported as a problem.

yes, i've reported 2 map error to apple and they were fixed within a few weeks.

I have submitted a couple and all but one have been fixed by Apple. One was fixed the next day so I assume there were multiple reports about it. I have a feeling that Apple has multiple methods of verification which is why it takes so long.

Since beta 1 I've submitted about 50 errors and I don't think any have been fixed.

They haven't even corrected a simple street name typo. Frith St, which should be Firth St.

I noticed one of my fixes has been made. Fixes related to spelling seem to be going through. Fixes related to pin location are probably a map calibration problem and will probably be fixed in software, not data. The address is correct, it's the exact place where Maps thinks that address that is not.

More worrying is that missing businesses have not been added. If I had a store and noticed my business missing when it was there in Google Maps, I'd be pretty pissed because that affects small businesses very directly by taking money out of their pockets.

They've corrected the location of my house. They didn't correct it to exactly where I dropped the pin, but its only a few houses off now. It was off by 3 blocks on launch day.

None of my reports have been fixed. I mean Apple is saying our maps stink, at least take the data from users giving it to you for free.

So far I have only caught one error, and it involved reaching a restaurant in a mall using the least logical entry, requiring a U-turn. So far it has not been corrected. Technically the directions were valid, just unnecessarily complicated.

For me Maps has been really good with directions. Where it is woefully lacking is points of interest. It doesn't point out Ralph's or Von's? I mean those are anchor stores...

I sent a ton of stuff for Disney World and local and it is all wrong still.

Also seriously, why are parks and golf courses using green fonts for their name.

None of mine have been corrected yet, the most glaring of which is that it thinks my local train station is a snooker club.

There isn't, and never has been, a snooker club anywhere near the train station. But hey, its only Scotland so why should Apple give a *****.

At the speed that their updating the maps via our reports, i doubt ill ever report again...

They haven't corrected any of the three or four issues I submitted within the past three and a half weeks. Two of the issues I submitted were related to the pin being in the wrong place (four or five miles off in one instance and a half-mile off in the other.) The other issue had to do with a gas station that is no longer at a location (been closed for six months or more), but it is still listed on the map.

I've stopped submitting corrections because I haven't seen any evidence that it's helping the cause. If Apple is going to solicit help from its community of users, those users should be able to see some tangible results from their submissions nearly a month after they've been submitted.

iOS 6 Map corrections

I posted a number of map corrections on the iphone. Some were correcting wrongly placed POI's; more importantly there was one road name correction, one missing road name notified and one particularly obscure road notified that was completely missing, all in the London area.

Some of these corrections were made three weeks ago and yet nothing has changed in the map.

I didn’t even get a text to say that my offerings had been received.

Am I alone in this or have I done something wrong?

The map (by the way) in London at least is excellent.

Don't worry, Nottingham doesn't even have a railway station... at least according to Apple.

Nothing I've reported has been fixed here.

My guess is that the those problems that are actually getting some attention are in the US. Anybody outside of the US seen their report get attended to?
As for myself I am in Japan, and the sheer number of errors is so daunting that it discourages me from reporting anything.
If Apple really wants to convince users that reporting are being taken sriously, they need to show us what they fixed and the method behind it.

London is a big place. I've found the new maps to be pretty good in some areas, and the 3D thing is fun in central London, but in other areas, including the area in which I live, to be more or less useless when it comes to points-of-interest. I really like the traffic feature, though, and that does seem to be reliable.

None of mine posted yet for small city in Canada, submitted near day one. And Yelp reviews I submitted then for first time showed up for a few days then vanished. So I'm done this game too.
