Jobs introduced new products at annual convention and that's about it. He focused like a laser on making products that were incredible, and that's it. That's what it takes.

The world benefited much more from that Apple than it does from celebrity charity event Apple.

Agree, but Steve was a LEGEND. He was Apple.

You have to remember that EVERY Apple product launch has been met with this kind of talk. Even the ipod, even the iphone, DEFINITELY the ipad -- and on this very site, too.
And previoisly I would have been posting like you are now. But not this time.

When the original iPod was released there was nothing like it. When the MBA was released there was nothing like it. When the iPhone was released there was nothing like it. When the Apple Watch was announced there are already smart watches that look similar and do more...

I'm not saying the AW doesn't have potential, but rather it's just half baked; was announced now to appease analysts and stock holders. I think Steve would have had the balls to make them wait until the product was ready.

Hey I'm an Apple fan usually, however this Apple Watch makes me wonder.

I'm curious when you got your hands on an :apple:Watch to make the determination its all style and no substance?

Clearly I've had no more of a look than you or pretty much anyone else in the world. It's my opinion though that until this thing can kick its over dependence on a connected iPhone its just dead in the water.

I'm happy to pay for well designed tech, but I'm not into buying jewellery.

Who would win in an arm wrestling match? Jony Ive or Marc Newson?

This draft beer machine is clearly just a gutted Mac Pro! Is there anything it can't do?

grate cheese :p

seriously though folks need to make the effort to visit that site for a look at that beer machine Whoever paid for that has been on something a lot stronger than beer

The mythologizing of Steve Jobs doesn't seem to be slowing down.
How long before people start crediting him with creating the universe?

If one's universe is dominated by Macs, iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches...then it's already happened.

Ironically the Troll in this right. It's another Newton waiting to happen.

We been hearing that since iPod. For every new product category there is an ocean of comments just like yours. It would be great to make a specific section with them in this forum and read it through few years in the future.

Did he mention that it can measure your heartbeat?

I am not going to comment on the cover photo. Those things are always completely contrived and setup by the photographer, and it's not the first time we've seen this picture, but I guess MacRumors will learn like the duct tape iWatch, you can't please everyone (anyone).

As for the comment criticizing "Cook and Co" you intensely lack foresight and strategy. Everything Apple has done has only moved them from plus, to (6) plus. The keyboard critics I've seen come and go here at MacRumors over the years have been one of the best parts but at least they ripped into the things Apple was ACTUALLY doing wrong.

It's rare that I'll give such a passionate and extended outburst but I was hoping for speculation and rumours in the top comments, or even better some HUMOUR. Instead it's just a bunch of whiney uninspired comments that completely miss the point of the article and look way too much into the photo chosen by the editor/writer/reporter/poster.

Look how self-absorbed they look. Apple isn't about the product anymore since Jobs left. Cook and Ive may think it is. But in actuality it's all about them now. Everyone's faces and names front and center, the products almost secondary.

And look at how badly everything is falling apart. The sad thing is that I get no sense that Cook and Co even realize what the problém is. They seem to be focused on solar power plants and gold-plated doodads marketed by celebrities. Practically the complete opposite of what Jobs would have ever done.

Apple became who they were by doing the things the way Jobs thought they should be done. Now they've done a 180.

You mean Jobs would never had a commercial during the Superbowl, the most overhyped tripe event on the planet? ... You don't say...

As for "falling appart", the next earnings report will dispell this clearly.

There has been so many "next Newtons", that Newtons could start a forceful (sic) punk gay rock band called the "bitten fruits" ;-).

For those who don't get it : Newton is sometimes rumored to being gay.

I agree with you. History is repeating itself. All of Apple's success came when they were doing things Steve Jobs way, and they've gone to hell 100% of the time someone else has come along and thought their own completely different way would somehow be superior.

It's basically always idiocy to take a formula for success and go 180 on it. Especially when you are talking about both the most innovative and most successful company in its category in history. The fact that someone would go and do that when it has already been proven to be a recipe for disaster before is truly astonishing. "The definition of insanity" and all that.

Get Cook outta there. I'll go so far as to say that Forstall is looking like he might even be some kind of solution right now. If it's the guy who had the gonads to stand up to what is happening in Apple right now, then maybe he's the one they need to have running things.

As I mentioned. I don't see a problem?

Apple is making the best products they ever have. Have more customers than ever before. Making more money than they ever have.

They made mistakes all the time. Nothing has changed.

And you think it is now failing? I actually don't know what point you're making. What solution would Forstall bring - you don't say what the problem is?

Finally - as a shareholder I'm glad Cook is in charge, I hope he's there for a long time if he can continue as he has for the last 3 years. He understands the company and it's values.

Given his previous design experience it doesn't take a genius to work out he's going to help design the Apple Watch 2.

Ive wanted to move back to the UK and do work remotely. Tim Cook compromised by hiring Newson to come in and have tea and crumpets with Jony.

Kind of getting creepy how Apple execs are taking modeling pictures. I seriously think they are getting so full of themselves that they are going to destroy themselves. This is how companies lose touch with reality and competition. Through self-worship

The picture was taken for Vanity Fair. You see, for the last 80 or 90 years, it's been fairly common practice for magazines to include photographs of the persons they're interviewing.

However, the fact that this is a good, professionally shot photograph does speak volumes about the current state of affairs in Cupertino. Jobs would have never allowed himself to be put on display in such manner.
