there not going to release a 64 gig touch or a 32 gig iphone. they dont make 32 gig flash chips yet and the iphone is too big to have two chips in it like the touch can

...What?

Am I the only one that has no idea what this guy is talking about? I don't understand how something can be "too big" to have something in it. If the iPod touch, which as you said is slightly smaller than the iPhone, can fit the chips in, then the iPhone, which is clearly bigger, would have no problem.

32GB flash chips are available and capable of putting into a touch. Case closed.
Still, how does that warrant an event? I can hear it now:

"If you look on the shiny back portion which is already scratched, you will now have the option of seeing 64 rather than a lower number. Additionally, if you open the settings application, you will see a higher number next to capacity. weeeeeee!"

Just to reiterate, there will likely be no event.

iPod Touch has 2 slots for memory cards, iPhone only has one and the other one for communications.

What about the $20 app store? More demos of other apps other than an IMing app? Updates to 30" display, iPod touch, iPhone, new firmware. Should I continue? All of these could make an event and then some.

I had no choice but to quota this as well. Apple of all companies will update the Cinema displays AND iPhone/iPod touch firmware in the same event? There is no unifying theme to this fantasy event other than the fact that its all from the same company.

I would pay money to attend this event.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the way they get 32 GB's in the iPod touch is by using 2 16 gb chips. But on the iPhone they can only use 1 part because the other part is used for the communications stuff.

To add to the list of possibles...

Announcing deal with China Unicom.
Announcing of Flash coming to iPhone.

Look buddy, if they would announce these things, they won't do it in a March 24th event. I don't get why you still want to continue on discussing the possibility of a March 24th event when you clearly have no back-up to that idea except for a bunch quickies that could be done by announcements. If Apple wanted an event, they should have done it with the iMacs, but now that it isn't. Too bad, wait till WWDC, that's when the major 3.0 or 2.3 upgrade will come. You are just listing on all the rumors that may happen.

Event =! Announcement

*OP, read over this thread one more time. You don't have any hard evidence or good speculation.

I think if anything they'll complete the LED ACD lineup because of the new Mac Pro & Mac Mini. I'm sure a lot of people want something larger than 24"

My guess

24"
28"
32"

Maybe...

An EVENT to bring the iPhone to China.
no.
an event in America to bring the iPhone to China.
Yes.

and Adobe already said they are working on flash.
the most likely thing if there is an event would be 3.0
-which would have push and multi tasking in it.

That, we will wait till June. I don't get why the OP is so excited about this when hardly any rumors or news are spreading about it.

I am thinking the iphone 3g might see a price cut to 150 with no upgrade, while the iphone hd is introduced. Either that or an upgraded 3g on verizon.

either way it would make sense to do this at the end of march to have it release ready in June....ie fcc , testing etc....they really only need a month for the fcc though

Does not make sense to get the iPhone back into dinosaur technology CDMA. ATT Exclusivity contract is not even up yet, I think Apple will make the smart move to give the iPhone to Verizon in 2013 when they start moving to GSM.

No, No.

No.

What poll?

I don't think there will be any event on March 24th.

Look, Apple won't host an event just for memory upgrades or push notification. Why? Because you don't need to demo how it works, they did explain how it will work and nobody needs another demo for an application. No event. Still stubborn? Look back at Apple history for the past 9 years.

No, No, No, No, No. Shall we have an event for a 2.2, 2.2.1 upgrade? No, you are basically saying that if one little bit of a product is altered, they would have an event. IMing apps are up to the makers to introduce, in this type of economy, I don't think Apple would like to waste so much money on events. Yes, you can continue to list all the little upgrades they can make into an event which is useless. So far, there are only events for major updates to iPods, iPhone, and Macs. Capacity upgrade does not justify for an event (Example? The Macs that just came yesterday, those things received tech upgrades and no events were out for them.). Since those Macs came out, I shall rule out the reason for an event for March 24th.

Listen to me.

Apple. Introduced. A new iMac. Mac Mini. And Mac Pro. With no event.

They will NOT do an event for ANY SOFTWARE other than Snow Leopard in June at WWDC.

Ummmmm........ so how many of you are eating your words????

https://www.macrumors.com/2009/03/09/march-24th-event-to-focus-on-software/

It never seemed right that the March 24th event just disappeared, this thing was still planned to be on, whether it gets pushed back or not, who knows? In terms of what they're releasing, maybe I was wrong, but you all told me I was stupid for thinking it was still on.... Am I still that stupid?

in a word.
Yes.
In a sentence.
Yes, very much so.

"According to Sevenmac, a new version of Final Cut Studio currently exists as an internal beta. The beta version, however, is reported to be buggy, which could force Apple to delay the special event by several weeks. No additional information on other possible software updates for the event are given. It would be unusual for Apple to hold a standalone media event for software updates alone, though further announcements or demonstrations of Apple's upcoming Snow Leopard could conceivably warrant an event."

First of all it could be delayed. Second, nothing in your poll is in this rumor. Third Apple doesn't hold standalone software events. Fourth WWDC makes the most sense for all of this. Since at the last WWDC they said it would be released in about a year. According to them Final Cut studio is buggy. So...yea.

However the Mac tablet/netbook rumor came back today so maybe that?
and why do you want an event so desperately?

I want an update to the iPhone firmware, specifically the PNS or background app solution and I think that an event like this might include an update on the iPhone. Thoughts?

Buddy, I'm tired of your speculation about an event. They might announce and release it, doesn't mean an event would/could occur because it's just a god damn software update.

Hardware update on iPhone = June

I would counter that news about a software event today, why the heck would you waste money on an event when you could have done it at the same time when the Macs come out? Answer that.

I would argue that by having more events and more announcements spread out, the more likely they are to stay in the news more and more often.

Aha ha ha ha....ha.....ha. You know why they left Macworld, right?

I would argue that by having more events and more announcements spread out, the more likely they are to stay in the news more and more often.

I would argue the opposite. The more events you have, the less special they become. More is less, as they say...

I want PNS as much as the next guy ... But I don't think we're getting it in March.

I'm betting on June at the earliest - and that's assuming a "3.0" firmware comes out at that time.
