Why would they bring the iPad Air 3 out now and not last autumn? Perhaps they didn't want to steal the Pro's Thunder. Still seems weird timing.

As to the watch bands: an event for that? Really? I wish Apple could make a lightning cable that didn't turn green and burn out.

If the iPad Air 3 is using the A9, perhaps they didn't want to constrain supplies of the iPhone 6S. The bands would likely just be a part of a larger announcement, perhaps the Watch 2.2 rollout, where they talk up some new features. Or they could announce a new partnership, sort of like the Apple Watch Hermes.

I am most excited about the new Apple Watch bands. This is the pinnacle of Apple hardware development. Screw the the computers... Bring on the watch bands!!!!!!!

I concur. iWatch bands are the new iPod Socks!!! Screw the "Cinema Display and other stuff I would actually spend money on" update.

Yaaay more lame incremental upgrades that I can't afford and wouldn't want anyway.

I now spend my money on shaving hardware because I think it's a better investment. I've bought 2 hand-made shaving brushes, about 30 different soaps, razors hand-made by famous Japanese swordsmiths and a heap of cool bowls/aftershaves (from the UK, Spain, USA, Japan, Australia...etc) for less than a grand. Far more rewarding than a big-screened iPhone that can't take calls.

Your smooth legs must be the envy of the block.

Let's see what actually comes out. I'd like an updated Apple Watch as I still don't have one and I'm not going to shell out that amount of money for the first generation model at this point. However, it looks like we'll be getting only new straps.

As someone who's still using an iPad 3 which is too slow for almost anything else than iBooks and/or Zinio nowadays, I would be in the market for a new iPad, and a model with Apple Pencil support that isn't as huge and expensive as the iPad Pro would be nice. However, that's also somewhat unlikely. I'm hoping for a surprise in either category.

I wouldn't think anyone who hasn't bought an Apple Watch already would somehow be convinced to purchase one just because the bands got updated... and frankly I don't really believe Apple would think that, either.

I've been wearing a Garmin Vivosmart band for almost a year now, and the utility of having notifications on my wrist has actually made me interested in seeing what the Apple Watch can do... but I'm definitely waiting for v2 before even considering one.

Me, too! Without much hope for GPS or improved battery life on AW, I'm going for the Garmin Forerunner 230 next. 15-day battery life, color, notifications, step counter, water resistant to 5 ATM, apps/watch faces from Connect IQ - not quite a smartwatch, but will keep me busy for a while.

Why even bother. The only thing of some merit would be the iPad Air 3, but if its incremental - meh. What about computers! Mac Mini, Mac Pro! These are ridiculously late. Does Apple only have 8 Engineers total?
I assume that with computers the margins aren't that great, so why waste effort and resources.

Well, at least the Mac Pro (2 years old by now) is assembled in the USA. Wow, go Apple. Way to lead.

Well You're not getting improved battery, it's just not possible right now for these types of devices. If you turn off the automatic screen on when you lift your wrist, you gain a whole extra day... to me that proves the biggest improvement can come in software to recognize better when you're actually lifting up to look at your watch. I get 3 days battery life atm, all because I turned that off, the problem is it's always turning on for any little movement while I'm working :\

As for GPS, they always suck in SmartWatches and they use too much battery... just not worth it, I mean the Microsoft Band 2 has GPS but it's not accurate and it takes too long to lock on while draining loads of battery. That is how they all are right now :\

Like Optical Heart Rate sensors, they're rather useless and tbh I'd prefer an Apple Watch without one that is smaller and cheaper.

Waste of an event. They should just hold it all back for WWDC if there aren't any Macs or Watch to go along with it all.

Is it April Fools' Day already? More ridiculously expensive "watch" bands for that battery-dead gimmick brick? How about Apple would finally give some love to Macs?

Bring on Thunderbolt 3/USB-C for all Macs, Skylake CPUs, a 'normal' web cam for rMB (and a 2nd port), 5K TB3 Display, an updated Mac Pro (with nVidia cards) etc.

Wow, I really thought we'd see a new Apple Watch. Isn't April 1 year after the launch of the first, and 1.5 years after it was announced?

Yes... But there are a bunch of countries that have only recently begun selling the apple watch... It was not so long before christmas that they were available on the apple website and only since 2016 in my local electronics stores. Unfortunately no apple stores here...

I am much more interested in a possible new, redesigned rmbp. My mbp is 6 years old...

Even with a new iPad Air 3 this seems like too little for a keynote.

I already said it in the last news story but iPhone 5SE is a terrible name.

[doublepost=1453510981][/doublepost]I'll be coming from iPad 2 with Retina display and lightning charge port. So hopefully these "air" models are a big difference.

I spent $30 five years ago on an electric beard trimmer and I feel like it's the best $30 I ever spent (this isn't sarcasm by the way, the battery in it is completely ead and needs to be operated pluygged in but I haven't founda replacement I liked nearly as much).

To each his own. At least half the people who own iPhones don't even shave lol.

Seems to me when we got updated models last fall that was a good indication no new watch in the spring. Plus I'm sure a lot of people got theirs over the holidays so announcing a brand new one just a couple months later would probably piss a lot of people off.
Isn't this likely true of any Apple product? Or... any product?

I woulod expecttheir markup is among the best of anything Apple branded they sell. I just got my wife a knockoff sport band on Amazon for $11 shipped with prime. It looks identical (maybe made of around 20% less material which is only apparent when holding it). She actually got a lot of compliments at work and a few people ordered there as a result. The same company sells a 7 pack for I think $54 and change, if I recall correctly. 7 bands from Apple would cost $350... insanity.
