That iPhone 5xyz or whatever the hell it's called is a waste of time.
Number two, I've been saying this over & over & over & over & over & over & over again:
STOP HAVING EVENTS FOR EVERY PRODUCT.
IT WON'T MAKE THE EVENTS SEEM SPECIAL ANYMORE.

If iPad Air 3 is just a spec bump, no event is needed.
Just put out a massive press release, fancy videos, etc. & show it online.
You know: exactly what Apple does during it's events, only without the long-winded VP speeches.

Perhaps apple will anounce 2 4 inch iphones.
One is the 5se with updated(iphone 6) internals and the same 1136x640 display.

And a iphone 6s mini with a 4 inch 1335x750 display with 3d touch, lower clocked a9, 2gb of ram.

The 5se will be $100 cheaper than the the 6s mini. And will be for markets like india, south america.

The 6s mini will be " only" 100 dolaars more expensive and will make doubters buy the 6s mini.

I don' t know, i really don' t understand apple anymore lately.

For instance: they make a watch os and tvos, but why don' t they make a pro or PadOs to differentiate it from the iphone and add features for the ipads with bugger screens.

I'm starting to find mobile tech in general becoming boring and predictable. Guess that's the reason why I have high hopes for VR from Oculus Rift and HTC. Something different and a possible game changer. What else do we have to look forward to; revisions of old iPhones, Android device's, iPad's, computers and watches?

I completely agree, I mean they are after all a computer company. Timmy needs to get the show on the road.

This news is a little disappointing. As a previous Apple Watch owner, I am eagerly awaiting a new Apple Watch that will hopefully solve the issues that caused me to return my 1st gen (bad battery life, laggy performance, almost unusable without being teathered to an iPhone). A full Apple Watch 2 might be a ways off but I don't see any reason why Apple couldn't release a small refresh similar to the "S" iPhone models.

Lets not forget, even thought the Apple Watch didn't become available until April 2015, it was announced long before that.
Who cares when it was announced? It's been out less than 1 year. And why do you believe this report anyway? Who knows what's coming and when. Also... I get 2 days of battery life on my watch with the latest update. Granted I would prefer 30, but I realize the limitation isn't how good Apple engineers are, it's a physics problem. Apps could load a bit faster, but I think the native apps are great. The only slow ones are the ones whose devs didn't update to support native. As far as tethering... how do you propose it gets its data??? Don't tell me LTE. Nobody wants another data package for a watch.

Side note: I hope they never release a round watch. Yuck.

Side note 2: I only want a Skylake refresh if they don't run into the same issues MS ran into. Apparently it's not so great with battery life. I've read it doesn't throttle as often as it should.

Side note 3: I hope they remove the USB Type C and the headphone jack from the rMB. It's time for a truly wireless computer. Wireless charging too

3 to 4 events annually is sufficient and reasonable. Millions will prove you wrong about the "waste of time". It will sell better than ANY android device and it isn't even Apple's flagship. Just like the 5c beat every Android device

I'm really hoping for an ipad air 3. Hopefully it has 3d touch.

But enough with these watch bands. Most of them are ugly and overpriced.
How about come out with a new and faster watch. I like my apple watch but that thing needs a speed boost and battery improvement.

Related observation, and I know this is a totally unscientific data point, but ever since the Watch came out, I've paid more attention to what people are wearing and it seems like the number of Apple Watch users at my gym had increased rather dramatically since the holidays – I'd say almost three-fold. I guess a lot of people got them as gifts.

Yup, I'm one of them. Was holding out to the next revision, but my wife wanted to buy me one for my birthday 2 weeks ago....and Best Buy was offering $100 off, so I figured why not... if the new one comes out, with the $100 off we spent I could sell this with minimal loss and upgrade. Glad I got it, but it's certainly not perfect. Like many, I think the next version will offer quite a bit of tweaks.

Yawnfest. Stale, rigid, dry, lackluster event. Might as well not have an event. Why bother? Oh yeah, they still think their conferences hold the audience's attention like they did over ten years ago. LOL.

Seriously? Updating the watch band line up is a thing now? The bands?

You're killing me, Apple. It seems the focus on technology that just works is getting a little diffused.
Wait until the keynote. The watch band announcement will get the most claps and cheers from the audience.

Apple watch bands, ipad air 3, iphone 6c, macbook and 13" macbook pro ...so Apple can put an event for those

What do you do on your watch?! My wife has an Apple Watch and hardly uses it outside of glancing sat sms and email alerts during the day (and then responds from her phone if it's important) and by the time she comes home it's in the 20s.

She does have a changing wallpaper on the watch, but otherwise everything is pretty much set dead stock.

Her number one gripe is the battery and will get the next watch simply so that if she forgets to charge one night she can use the darn thing another day (assuming battery lasts longer). I'll get the hand me down watch which I'll use for tracking runs, for which I didn't see it prudent to buy a device for.

New MacBook Pros (new, as in redesigned both internally and externally). It is time to bring some of those MacBook learnings to the Pro line.

New MacBook Airs would be nice as well. Though I suspect the Air line is destined/planned to simply become less and less relevant as the MacBook matures (but we need way, way faster processors for MacBooks to become truly relevant).

Come on. New Laptops in March.
Please.

If Apple releases ipad air 3 this will seriously deteriorate (and start making me hate) Apple for this lousy policy of not sticking to any update schedule. They just randomly upgrade(not upgrade) products.

When I bought my iPad 3 they released iPad 4 in like 9 months, when I waited a full year for the iPad Air 3 they decided not to release one so I got an Air 2. Now they are going to release iPad Air 3 few months later?

Maybe Tim Cook does not understand that most people do not make $1m per month like he does, and they have to decide where to put their $500 investment for the next 2-3 years.

Apple is rumored to be planning to host a March event to unveil new products, but exact details on what will be shown off at the event have been in flux. An early December rumor from 9to5Mac suggested Apple would use the event to unveil a second-generation Apple Watch, but a report from TechCrunch indicated that rumor was false - no Apple Watch 2 is in the works for an early 2016 launch.

Instead, TechCrunch shared information indicating something smaller but still watch-related could be introduced in March, perhaps a minor update to add a FaceTime camera or new bands and partnerships similar to Apple's collaboration with Hermès. In a new report on what may come out at the March event, 9to5Mac backtracks on earlier claims of an Apple Watch 2 and instead agrees with TechCrunch, pointing towards a new Apple Watch lineup with new bands but no hardware changes.

At its September 2015 event, Apple introduced its Hermès partnership and debuted new colors for several Apple Watch bands, and we may see the same kind of update at the March event. New colors for existing bands and bands in new materials may be in the works. Apple is also planning to release watchOS 2.2 at or shortly after the event.

Apple's March event may also see the debut of the rumored 4-inch iPhone, now thought to be called the "iPhone 5se" to reflect its position as a successor to the iPhone 5s. The device is said to have an iPhone 5s-style exterior with iPhone 6-style curved cover. Internally, it will feature an A8 or A9 processor, NFC support for Apple Pay, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and while it won't have 3D Touch, it will be capable of taking Live Photos.

Previous rumors have suggested we could also see the next-generation iPad Air at the March event, as it is said to be debuting in the spring of 2016.

Though no Apple Watch 2 update is planned for early 2016, a second-generation update is undoubtedly in the works. It's possible Apple could be planning to release a new Apple Watch in the fall months alongside the iPhone 7.

Apple's plans for a March event remain tentative, and should products not be ready for release, there's a possibility that it could be canceled in favor of an online-only unveiling and announcement for the 4-inch iPhone and new Apple Watch bands.

[doublepost=1453549869][/doublepost]No way will it just be watch bands.

I can see iPad Air 3, watch bands and partnerships, sky lake rMBP's and maybe the iPhone 5se. Who knows what else they could show off in regards to maybe iCloud or iWork too.

Careful. Speaking ill of Apple Watch and its incredibly amazing array of ground breaking, engineering defying, and fashion forward bands will irk the ire of many a forum member here...some of them get very sensitive to the topic! ;)

Did iPad 4's release make your iPad 3 do less stuff? Would iPad Air 3 make your iPad Air 2 work less well?
