This year, we gotta try and keep emw from flying off
Well, this year you'll have some help since I'll be gone from March 17th until March 26th on vacation. Bad timing to be sure, but hey - it's my anniversary, so it's not so bad. I'll try to catch a few games (at least Illinois), but likely won't be spending too much time here.

:( for me

:D for you

If Illinois get by Air Force and Washington, I'd pull for them against UConn and would love to see the upset. I'm sure it's gonna be :D for you, too, on the beaches. I noticed in another thread, you already have a jump start with getting good and bronzed. Have a great time in Hawaii. Not sure which island you'll be on, but if you're near Wainaii, say ahola for me to my islander friends there.

So now I have to cram on all the teams, since I haven't been paying terribly close attention to the rest of the college hoops world this year. The only good thing about Stanford not being in the NCAAs this year: at least they won't screw up my bracket like they usually do. :(

I like Villanova a lot, but am concerned about Allen Ray coming back from his injury and wonder how they're do against a team with quality size (Dials, Ohio State). I don't see the Duke/UConn clash as inevitable at all; wouldn't be surprised to see Duke lose before Indianapolis.

The Oakland regional looks very tough, but I have a hard time getting behind any of the top 4 teams. I may go out on a ledge and take Pitt, though a potential UCLA/Gonzaga matchup should be very entertaining due to the completely opposite styles of those two teams.

Ditto, up all night for work tonight anyway, so might as well put NCAA analysis on the table too.

Since I'm not playing in the MacRumors bracket im gonna say one hint about Duke. Watch out for LSU, very dangerous right now.

I'll go one bracket further. Watch out for Iowa.

Watch out for boston coll.

You should never do a bracket in a cavalier manner late at night. Mine is full of upsets and stupid picks. Goodnight.

I know what you mean ... I have UNC winning a few games well maybe MSU / UNC looks like a potential good one with a tough outcome

The longer I looked at it, Boston College looked better and better. I have about 5 against the odds upsets, some mild, others laughable, but have left mine to be what is. Now to wait. 10 hours from the deadline. Tick-tock.....

I feel good about Boston College and LSU. Not so good about Iowa and Michigan State. I don't feel good about UCLA either, though they have been on a nice roll lately -- I just loathe Farmar and Afflalo, two Grade A Prime punks. I'm slightly tempted to take Cal over Texas in Round 2, but I can't quite go there...

And don't do your brackets in a Cavalier manner: after all, they lost to Stanford in the first round of the NIT last night. :p

Well I am going to bed. By the time I wake up the selections will be closed. So hope I made the best picks. Good Luck to everyone.

I think Duke looks especially vulnerable this year. A few different bounces this year, and their ranking could have been very different. The last-second half-court shot; the Florida State mystery technical; etc. I'd also like to see how J.J. Redick does when he plays a quality defense. Compare the looks he gets to the looks that the Villanova guards get in the Big East - they still manage to nail quick-release 3's with people in their face, especially Allan Ray. However, Duke does have the benefit of a relatively easy path to the Final Four. The only team I could see really knocking them off would be Iowa, and I don't think they're going to get past West Virginia.

UCLA is tough. Just not consistent. I'm not sure what makes Gonzaga any different than any of their other recent NCAA teams. Sure, Morrison is a big scorer, but I'm not sure they didn't have that kind of talent previously. I think the only change is in the expectations/hype. Thus, I think they'll do the same as they have previous tournaments; win a few games then get knocked off, probably by UCLA.

What I can't wait to see is that 7'2" (but out of shape) center on Monmouth try to play against Villanova. Can you say huffing and puffing?

To everyone participating in the Yahoo! Tournament (currently 9, which is a little disappointing, I must say), remember that picks must be submitted by Thursday at 9:10am EST!
Oddly enough, the deadline is now 11:10am CST. 2.5 more hours to fret over your picks...

Oh, and there are now 17 members participating. Good luck everyone!

That's okay - I really suck at this and I like college basketball. I think that's worse.

Fear Wichita State.
AHHH!!! I didn't read past the entry information, and now I find out my picks are going to mirror someone elses? I just went with my gut on a matchup by match up basis - what made you go with them?

What's the 12 out of 18 ranking for the MR Group? Does that reflect on our odor arm deunderent choices? :D Good luck everybody.

Man, games are ON already. I'm pumped. I'm headed out early to "work from home" and wait for a delivery guy. Woohoo!

I hate to lie to my boss - I am getting a delivery.

Of course, it may well be a pizza delivery, but he doesn't need to know that. :p

I am taking tomorrow off of work to watch the games and drink green beer at the local pub!! :) :) :) :)

the only bad thing is that tonight we have parent/teacher conferences until 7:30 EST. So I will miss out on the earlier games but make it home for the rest. Then I can start my St. Paddy's day celebrating a little early with my fridge full of Guiness! I love this time of year.

Man the clock seems to be slowing down.
