I don’t see on-device AI happening on the HomePod mini at its price point, even when waiting a year. What they might do is delegate AI functions from the HomePod to the new Home hub device once that’s released.
I think you’re onto something there. If they can’t keep the processing on-device, they could at least keep it in-home, for privacy reasons. Although at some point you do have to leave the home….

Apple should take the stock hit, and take an entire year off to rebrand and get itself together. They pulled out from WWDC because they didn’t want to feel pressured to announced something with a restrictive yearly time table. Now many years later, they’re back to forcing yearly update.

Yup. I been sayin they should swap years with the watch:

iPhone one year

Next year watch

Next year iPhone etc etc etc

That’d generate real excitement for each new iPhone if it was every other year IMO

Either way, I always stay tuned to see what apples been cookin up!!! Haha

Peace

I mean who cares anymore? They're coming up with upgrades, everything will be 5000 dollar more expensive, and they think we'll hate it but buy what we can with all we have.

I'm officially burnt out.

“The findings corroborate a lot of what I've reported, including that fresh Apple TV and HomePod mini models will arrive this fall, that new iPads are in the works for next year, and that updated monitors are coming," he wrote.

——

In a follow-up, German wrote, his unusually incisive, pointed, facts-based fashion, this:

“I expect a new iPhone model this year — and, to go out on a limb — another new model next year!

Furthermore, as I’ve repeatedly assured the readers of my pricey, exclusive newsletter, they can count on new IPads, new watches, new TVs, and new Home Pods — sometime in the near future (best left undefined) — and certainly in the next year or two.

YOU CAN COUNT ON THAT!

Check back frequently — subscriptions to my newsletter are only $$$ — and you’ll see I’ve right all along.

In fact, I’ve always been right even when I’ve been wrong.”

😎

So very hard for me to get even the slightest bit excited about what looks like just chip updates.
I somewhat agree. I think we're at the point where tech has become very mature and it will be a while before the hardware side of things gets exciting again. I think the most Apple can do at this point is to improve on their processing capabilities to be able to run more AI on device. That's where I believe the most benefits will be seen over the next few years

I mean, there’s currently a $599 M1 MacBook Air at Walmart if you’re in the US.
I had an M1 Air as my work machine for some time. It got replaced by an M3 Air - I wasn't going to turn down an offered upgrade, but honestly the M1 was a great little machine, and I could have happily kept using it.

My old eyes do appreciate the 15" screen that came with the new laptop, though. :p

Appreciate the information about M5 machines. No plans to upgrade current M based Mac or the ancient iPad (as able to accept the 2026 OS). Would consider Watch Ultra 3 and on the fence about M5 AVP. Current AVP model works very well with 2026 beta. For what I use the AVP for (ultra-wide Mac display) and looking at high res images for patient care, the speed bump will not likely render CT images faster. Let me know if I am incorrect. Thanks.

I was about to laugh and or like and or love your reply, because that is totally how his comment read.

But then you made fun of my darling ellipses...
I use them constantly.

I also don’t buy into the single space after a period. It’s improper. The MLA handbook told be so, as does every book or magazine article written from 2000 or earlier. It was even a feature of MS Word to automagically add that second space for you!

But I digress…

Edit: the message parser is taking out my second space after a period. The AI will not be trifled with!

"I want something new and exciting blah blah"

Apple releases Vision Prod.... Apple cancels Car.

"I hate it..." blah blah.

Exactly what new device do people want that is a hole is the Apple universe???

Uh huh. You and a number of others Mark. Don't act like this leak is your exclusive.
Mark is typically wrong. All of these leaks are safe bets. Small chip upgrade. My grandma could have predicted these.

And here comes Marky like he’s a rocket scientist. And then you have MR shilling out for him by including ads for his subpar newsletter.

As a supporter of MR, I pay to not see ads. What gives?

My prediction based on my gut: no $599 MB, no benefit to Apple.

It would open up a whole new market segment because of the price point. Assuming Apple maintains its margins, they could even make a play for the educatinal market currently dominated by ChromeBooks. It could also be an attractive alternative for businesses looking for a basic machine since it would be price competitive with PCs.

Whatever they release will be the most powerful phone/iPad/Mac ever made, built from the ground up with new excitingly more fantastic than ever before seen. It will truly be light years ahead of even light itself. You are going to love it

All hail HypnoTim...

Two spaces made sense in the days of typewriters and monospaced fonts, but now most contemporary style manuals, including APA, MLA, and Chicago, recommend using one space after a period at the end of a sentence

Why not a "M" powered AppleTV?

I want my MTV.

Unless Apple plans to turn the ATV into a much more powerful device and add features that move it into a much better gaming device or some other functionality using a more expensive and powerful chip whose power is not used would be a mistake.

lol thi sis quite literally one of those times when I think ‘I’ could EASILY make these exact same ‘predictions’, also note how he lived it wide open when any new monitors will actually arrive…. Very telling.

Nice. Time to trade in my Vision Pro to apple for 50 cents and buy a slightly faster M4 Vision Pro.
Slightly faster. Right.

M4 GPU performance is 4x of M2.

Could unlock completely new use cases likes tracking of moving objects. Not just static like is done for the new VisionOS26 widgets.
