Apple gives in to the bigger-is-better marketing game.
::sigh::

Don't they know iPhone 5/5s are perfectly fine? Pocketable, screen size is large enough , I mean , if I want a gigantic screen, I buy an iPad or iPad Mini

Needs better battery life and better speakers. That rendering looks drab to me.

You can be sure that apple will release the white/silver version.
;)

The tone of these forums is noticeably changing as the likelihood of a larger iPhone becomes more apparent.

Fickle much?

If the iPhone does come in a larger size, I might consider returning to iOS, but third-party keyboards are still a must. Larger screen and Swype and I would almost certainly return to iPhone.

Although Android Wear could be enough to keep me with Google Nexus - my Nexus 5 is amazing. This summer is going to be interesting.

they should do something with iOS and its new real "estate" though cuz 4.7 and 5.5 could offer more than just another row of icons ... i mean iOS was first intended for a 3.5 device and the home screen hasnt been changed at all since then.

oh and that concept looks quite nice actually

What kind of resolution can we expect with the new screen sizes?

Will devs again have a to support new resolutions as with the introduction of the 4" screen?
Yes.

Lots of times, bigger is better. Better readable, more content can fit the screen, video looks bigger. It's not a marketing game, it's actual real life convenience.

You'd hope that developers don't make any assumptions about screen sizes (in pixels) anymore and write code that works on any screen size. _If_ the number if pixels was higher, then Apple would probably ask developers to add a switch to the app to indicate that it can handle different resolutions, and scale the display if that switch isn't set. Good app developers would just have to set that switch, others would have to fix their code first.

I hope this is inaccurate. I don't want a bigger and thinner/lighter phone.
I could now stash away one or two 5s but that doesn't really help in the end either if this is the stupid trend.
Those look like the samsung ghettophonez that I avoided when moving to apple.

Last quarter Apple sold 51M iPhones. I don't doubt some of those 51M and some that switched to a competitors device want a larger iPhone. But clearly not everyone does. Hence why I can't see Apple going from 4" to 4"7 and 5.5". Unless they found a way to make the footprint of the 4.7" device not much bigger than the 5S. But with the physical home button I don't see how Apple can make the screen bigger without making the overall device bigger.

If that is the design, I am sold! Love the matte black and the rounded edges :eek::eek:

Looks like a lazy edit of the current iPod touch.

That design and larger than 4" and I'm NOT sold!

small and big

Another foolish rumor, showing just matte black and not a white, silver or gold .

They'll be the same color choices as the present model's

The blue print also says the camera is a flash. Which obviously is a mistake.

Regarding the camera, I think the blueprint is spot on actually. There have been rumours that the camera might have a circular flash (similar to a macro flash). The second flash to the right is likely to be the second flash used for True Tone as seen on the 5S.

I feel like even of this is the iPhone 6 it's a day late and a dollar short. My 5s isn't really an appreciable difference from my 4s other than being able to run iOS 7 smoothly. In the end it's just another iPhone that I can't customize that will likely be missing features that I want. My 5s might be my last iphone unless iOS 8 is truly innovative.

With you there bra.
My 5S is already big enough, (but bigger thjan necessary due to the oversized forehead and chin). The square edges are uncomfortable to hold for extended periods and it's plenty thin enough right now thanks.

You have nothing to fear. Apple will not get rid of the 4" phone. They just want to reach a larger audience by giving them a choice to have a ghettophone. Meanwhile you will still be able to keep your wasp phone.

What exactly is a ghettophone?

Yes.

Bigger is not always better. Why can't you people see that?
It's only more readable with more content if the resolution supports more pixels. It may be less comfortable at that size.

Horses for courses man.

.....

In addition to a larger display, Apple’s next-generation iPhone is expected to feature a durable, sapphire screen, and a thinner, bezel-free design in addition to processor and camera upgrades.

Do like the iPad mini Retina and increase the thickness slightly to increase battery life. What's this obsession with bigger, thinner and lighter. I thought the 4S was plenty light. Even though I have a 5S right now, I miss how the 4/4S felt more hefty.

Who said bigger is always better? That's you, not me. I said lots of times (not always), it actually is better.

That sounds close to the little algebra experiment I did. If you increase the screen with one row of pixels horizontally and vertically and change nothing else you get to 4.64".

http://j.mp/NJVXpa for my blogpost with a simple render...

Now before you Apple fanboys jump on me.. I AM an Apple fan.. I have a MacBook Pro.. an iPad Mini.. and I love iOS. I'm the kind of guy that refused to cover up my iPhone 4s with an ugly case.

With that said.. the rendering of this phone looks like every other Android phone to me.

I do want a larger screen.. and I do prefer iOS.. and I'll probably get one for those reasons.. but the overall design?

Looks like another blah Android phone to me.. and if this is what they come out with, I'll likely wait until next summer for the fanboi ferver to die down and buy one used.

Yeah, I also prefer the solid feel of the 4S. The heaviness gives it a premium feel, as if it were carved out if a single block of metal ore. Reminds me of Jurassic Park:

"Are they heavy"?

"Yeah"

"Then they're expensive."
