They're pulling some sketchy stuff.

Deleting a 25+ page thread about a known issue that affects many users, not responding to users requesting updates on cases, etc.

A friend messaged me today to ask if I'd experienced the skipping issue and I went to link him to the thread, only to find out that it was removed! I have an archive of the last ~100 posts though, as they were pushed to my email because I was subscribed to the thread.

both wises phone and mine have it. mine will always have issues when I go through my shop door. one way to stop it is to have the app onscreen that stops it. sometimes playing audio through the iPhone speaker then going back to bt fixes it at least it used too when the phone was new.

I can only comment on my experience. Just got done mowing for two hours with my Bose noise canceling headphones without a single skip.

I really am saying all this bs because I'm a little envious.

I don't want to go through more phones because I'm 99% sure that they will fail like they failed for me and so many other people. I don't mind buying an unlocked phone, losing some money on selling my current phone, but now my confidence in apple products is a little shaken up. I pulled the trigger on a rMBP 15" (topped out), but now pretty sure I'm going to cancel. Yes all things have problems, but this is $4200 I'm parting with and so far the gfx issue has not been addressed or even admitted as a potential issue. Now they delete threads of people discussing one specific issue they all have?

I've gone through 2 black stainless steel apple watches now. The first the bottom button fell out. No I didn't peel it off, or anything. The second one had a good button, but the top crown button is very very mushy out of the box. Thought ok, bad design, but it's apple, it looks awesome anyway. Didn't think it was a big deal until I saw my friend have the same exact watch and his digital crown actually makes a nice click when pressed.

Maybe I just have bad luck, and should only buy the cheapest apple products so that if they fail or have problems, it's no big deal, or move to another manufacturer.

sigh you get the idea...

I was really surprised to find bluetooth patchy and skipping on a new 7 I use for work. It happens mostly at the gym when I'm quickly checking different apps between sets. I tried the normal reset things.
My main phone is a SE and bluetooth works perfectly, so I'll keep using it.
This doesn't bode well for Apple wanting a wireless future; unless they've done something to ensure their own branded headphones work perfectly.
Optus 4G, Australia.

I had noticed a bit of skipping before while playing Bluetooth music in my car through my 7 Plus, but I just realized that I played quite a bit of Bluetooth music in my car last night with no problems at all. I'm currently running iOS 10.2 Beta 5, so maybe the problem has been resolved in 10.2.

For all those who have experienced the Bluetooth audio skipping issues: Do you use an Apple Watch?

Personally I started noticing this issue after first pairing my iPhone 6 with an Apple Watch, the audio would occasionally start skipping pretty badly. This same issue carried over to my iPhone 7, but I did notice that it happens far more frequently in the Music app as opposed to other audio apps like Podcasts. Turning off the Apple Watch and then rebooting both the iPhone and Bluetooth audio device temporarily resolves the issue, but it returns as soon as I reconnect my Apple Watch.

I'm on my second phone, a friend is on his first, all the same issue. iPhone 7+ AT&T. Bluetooth audio breaks, constantly. Tried 4 different headsets, 2 different cars. Same issues. Will work, all will be fine, then it will start skipping like a scratched CD.

Can't figure out what causes it because sometimes it just comes back. It's not a WIFI issue or streaming issue. Specific to bluetooth. And with no headphone port on my new future phone, I have no other way of listening to music or even audiobooks.

I read some stuff here and there about BT issues with cars, but this is any A2DP streaming. Worse in cars. Anyone else having this issue? Any hopes to get it resolved?

That's just what you get when you use Bluetooth! Why do you think the Airpods aren't coming out?

It's not a fixable problem.

That's why I told you not to buy the iPhone 7. And now you're finding out why

THAT'S THE NATURE OF BLUETOOTH!!!

THAT'S WHY REMOVING THE HEADPHONE JACK WAS DUMB!!!

installed the lastest beta, reset network settings, and unpaired all devices from phone. Still having the same issue with bluetooth audio and handfree calling

I had the same watching same jay 2 earbuds 2 sets on my 6+ and no real problems once in awhile I would have. Issue but I always have with Bluetooth. But now it can be really bad. The watch makes it worse for sure.

Bluetooth itself is fine. It's a really crappy protocol IMO, but it does work with everything but the iPhone 7, whose headphone jack was removed because bluetooth should take over wires.

Sigh, that's just ironically funny.

What's not funny is apple deleting threads discussing this.

It's funny to me that they acted like the W1 chip would help or resolve the protocol issues with bluetooth and I'm having the same problems, if not more often, with my Powerbeats 3.

I also have this problem when listening to music in the car, AT&T 7+ in a 2014 model car. Absolutely unreal.

The 2.4 GHz frequency that Bluetooth operates on is one of the most congested frequencies.

Wireless engineer here (or that's what they like to call me, at least).

You're absolutely not wrong about congestion. 2.4GHz is crowded since it's an unlicensed band. But, I can say that while you're on the right track of thinking, this isn't the issue. Believe me, I thought the same at first.

I have a nice Optiview XG tablet which I can do spectrum analyzing on. Can confirm that interference from outside sources are not contributing to my Bluetooth problem.

I'm actually the most mad about this. I wish Ars/Gawker/some-reputable-tech-blog would pick up on this censorship. Why is Apple deleting threads which its customers are discussing a widespread issue? When I spoke with their tech, he actually said that he reached out to me because I was making a big deal on their forum about this issue. It's extremely frustrating to know that they acknowledge that there is a problem, yet are keeping the public in the dark about realizing how big of an issue it really is.

So far, this is how they've handled it with me:
  • Step 1. Deny the problem
  • Step 2. Blame the other manufacturer (car/headphone/etc)
  • Step 3. Ignore customer
  • Step 4. Obfuscate the problem from the public

...same problem with iphone 7+, 128 GB, ios 10.1.1 and Beast wireless solo3 and wireless 2!

Have had absolutely no bluetooth issues at all using a Mazda, Mercedes and also Infiniti.. Bluetooth has been working great for me on my 7 plus. Haven't tried BT headphones yet

As a follow up, I went to the Apple store to get some help with my phone. I had the beta on the phone so anything that I was saying couldn't be believed since I am on beta software. I explained the issue I'm having and the Genius had never heard of it before. He explained the steps I'm going to need to do to try and single out the problem to find the solution. First I have to re-pair my phone with my truck to see if it could be as simple as that. If that doesn't work then I have to start fresh on 10.1.1 and pair the device with my truck. If that still doesn't fix it (which it didn't) then I need to try pairing it with a different device to see if it could be the truck that is the issue. Even though it worked perfectly with my 6s, apparently it could be my trucks fault that it doesn't want to work properly with my new 7+. Once I've done all that, I need to make another appointment and they will evaluate my options.
A suggestion from a previous post on here was to disable LTE and I can confirm that solves my issue. I turned off LTE on my GSM 7+ and haven't had a single skip all day. I would usually get multiple skips per hour depending on how many push notifications I would get. I've been a whole day with no issues yet.
When I mentioned to the Genius about the issue being with the GSM phone itself he was quick to dismiss that as not possible. According to him, the cellular antennas don't have anything to do with the bluetooth antennas and therefore couldn't be the cause. I don't know enough about the devices design to know if that is true or not but it is definitely suspicious that as soon as I disabled LTE, my problem went away.
I am waiting for the batteries for the 6s phones to come in and when I do I'll make a follow up appointment for my phone. I'm not going to lie, I don't like my odds on getting them to replace my GSM phone with an unlocked CDMA phone.

Well, I might write up my experience as well. So this would have been my 3rd iPhone 7 plus, because the genius bar kept saying they weren't aware of any problems.

This time around, I came back and told them I did everything they asked and it still didn't work. The genius bar guy said he has never heard of the problem. I told him, I saw him last week and complained of the problem and that there was a person next to me that I talked to that said the same thing and was in for the same exact reason. He basically said, no sorry, must have been someone else and that he has not heard of the problem, but will be more than happy to help me.

He got a pair of beats headphones and we paired them. We played some music, and guess what? They skipped. He said it was because there were over a hundred bluetooth devices in the store and the signals are all crossed so skipping is expected. He said he believed me and wanted to run some tests in the back. He came back 30 minutes later (not sure how he can run tests, the phone was locked and I never gave him my pin) and said the bluetooth radio checked out just fine and there were no issues. He told me that I need to contact VW and Bose and Sony because they need some firmware or something to support the newest version of bluetooth which the iPhone 7 plus uses. I mentioned the whole unlocked phone thing, and he stated it's the same exact bluetooth radios and that it wouldn't make a difference. I asked if I could trade my phone in for an unlocked and he said, that they can only exchange my phone for a refurb of the same type.

I didn't want to argue or fight. Maybe it's just this store, I don't know. I think I may finally be done with Apple. This is not the company I used to love and be obsessed about and felt like everything was top quality. It feels like now, you expect massive issues and that you'll be ignored. I cancelled my macbook pro order. $4200 laptop and I expect issues with it and I expect that I will be ignored like this and that if I complain, my threads will be deleted. GFX issues anyone? I know they don't care, but I won't need to care about these problems either anymore.

Anyone want to buy an a perfect condition AT&T iPhone 7 plus that passes ALL apple tests and is certified by apple is new without issues?

I get the feeling this is hardware related and if they admit to it being a problem, they'd need to recall or replace millions of AT&T GSM phones. Rumor has it, the only thing different about the AT&T phones is that they use a much cheaper Intel radio chipset vs qualcomm like the CDMA ones do.

Anyway, good luck to the rest of you. This is depressing. I used to laugh at all my friends with Android phones because they had to deal with bugs, crashes, etc. Now they are laughing at me because I can't even play bluetooth music in my car and have bugs, crashes, etc. I joke around and tell them, at least I have thousands of emojis, and all software releases focus on getting more emojis... wish I was kidding.

Well...this is pretty depressing that so many people have the exact same problem and Apple has no fix for it. Of course to get a fix...Apple would actually have to acknowledge the problem, which hasn't happened yet.

I saw that 10.2 was released...it's probably too much to hope for this but has anyone noticed if the update helped?
