I bought two pair of airbuds and I know it can take days for the dropouts to start after changing something. Like when I started using I books for audio books it took days for the dropouts to start again. Well it has been almost a week with the airbuds and it is mostly gone. The two places it has always done it still happens but to a far lesser degree. When I go though metal doorways at work I get glitches it is lesa with the airbuds usually just one little glitch but it is still there.

I bought two iPhones last year, a Sprint iPhone 7 and an AT&T iPhone 7 Plus. The Sprint's Bluetooth Audio had no issues. The AT&T 7+ skips like a scratched CD on any and every Bluetooth device I own. So far I've tried:

-Reproducing the skipping (successfully) on Altec Lansing, FitAcoustics, Beats Solo 3 Wireless, Sony ZS-RS60BT stereo, 2 Subaru Forresters, a Cadillac SRX, 2 Mpow Cheetahs headsets, 2 Bluedio headsets, a portable JBL speaker, AirPods, Here One earbuds...I could go on.
-Resetting Network Settings (to clear out all bluetooth other devices) and pairing to online one device
-Not logging into iCloud (to prevent AirPods from syncing their Bluetooth profile)
-Wiping and restoring to the same firmware
-Not restoring from local backup (and setting the device up as new)
-Not restoring from iCloud backup (and setting the device up as new)
-Five different firmwares — 10.1, 10.1.1, 10.2, 10.2.1, 10.3 beta

They've replaced my 7+ three times now and I still have the issue. I've probably spent 5+ hours on the phone with AppleCare by now re-explaining repeatedly, uploading error logs, reading off serial numbers, etc. If there were a software fix they would've found it by now.

The only question is when will Apple start recalling these phones.

That's a serious bummer

My att 7+ jailbroken has skipped (intel radio but bought at full price so unlocked) but so has my SE with AirPods.

In car or with solo 2 and now 3, not really any skipping. Car skipping happened with
A tweak install but not since.

I think next time for peace of mind I'll get the Qualcomm version but mines been ok so far. AnD SE breaks up more often. It's like more sensitive to interference or something with AirPods.

I'm not really having issues with my phone + bluetooth skipping, it's more my iMac (macOS Sierra 10.12.3) and it's driving me up a friggin WALL. I'm not sure if my bluetooth has too much on it to communicate smoothly with my speaker -- all that's connected is my keyboard, trackpad and the mini LSTN bluetooth speaker. It has wonderful sound in general, but even with it sitting directly on my desk or up to 10 ft away, it skips half of the time. And when it skips, it won't stop. When connected to my phone (iPhone 6, 10.2.1), there's little to no issue or easily resolved by moving the devices closer together.

Skimming through a bit of the forum, this may be a larger issue with Apple. If anyone has any suggestions/things to try, PLEASE let me know. It's slightly infuriating.

I'm keeping my headphone jack as long as possible.

wow! thats crazy they deleted that thread
I'm on my second phone, a friend is on his first, all the same issue. iPhone 7+ AT&T. Bluetooth audio breaks, constantly. Tried 4 different headsets, 2 different cars. Same issues. Will work, all will be fine, then it will start skipping like a scratched CD.

Can't figure out what causes it because sometimes it just comes back. It's not a WIFI issue or streaming issue. Specific to bluetooth. And with no headphone port on my new future phone, I have no other way of listening to music or even audiobooks.

I read some stuff here and there about BT issues with cars, but this is any A2DP streaming. Worse in cars. Anyone else having this issue? Any hopes to get it resolved?

I have the same issue. I took my phone to the Apple Store Genius Bar. The genius pair my iPhone to their Beats Pill and he saw the issue he said it was because the LTE chip that the phone had. He also said if i was going to listen to music on my car to keep my phone out of my pocket. So I wasn't happy with his solution so I called Apple Care and they replaced the phone. The replacement has the same issues is really annoying so now I just plug in my phone to the car with the lightning cable. I just hope the next gen iPhone this issue is fixed.

I have noticed this issue with my iPhone 7 Plus AT&T, using both Beats Studio Wireless and the Apple AirPods. But 95% of the time it happens at my gym. I haven't ruled out if it's something interfering with the bluetooth, or if it's the wifi.

Wow, it must be with certain phones as I have an A1784 model iPhone 7 Plus (with the Intel modem) and have had zero issues with Bluetooth. And I use it a lot. I have my phone paired with my truck, BeatsX earphones, and a JBL XTreme speaker and haven't experienced any problems. I wonder why some are not working well?

Does your Bluetooth audio work well even when you are in a place with weak cell signal?

I've also had problems with the bluetooth suddenly making a noise like it's skipping. I use several Bose headphones or ear buds that are wireless, and I get this skipping noise about every second song. Mr. Cook, I hope, is reading these forums, and he needs to take action to rectify this severe problem!

Yes... other than catching a few minutes of local news, I listen exclusively to Bluetooth in my truck to and from work (45 mins each way, mostly back roads) and there are a couple of spots along the way where the signal goes down to 1 dot/bar. I've never had it skip or dropout yet. To be clear, I'm talking about local content on my iPhone streamed via Bluetooth to my truck using Ford Sync.

Same here, no issues with my ATT 7+ with two sets of Bose headphones or both vehicles. I use them daily.

I really hope that Apple learned their lesson and doesn't go with Intel modems in the future. Intel is great at making CPUs but apparently cellular chipsets aren't their forté.

I know this is an old topic, but I was able to fix my issue by turning off AirDrop. I had set AirDrop to everyone for sending files to my Mac. Stuttering was really, really bad. Once I turned off AirDrop, no more stutter.

I ran across this while looking at this apple discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7794096?start=0&tstart=0
I have airdrop set to off and it made no difference. I haven't used bluetooth in my car since the update so I am not sure if the update fixed it. I'm glad it worked for you though.

This problem has pretty much gone away for me since upgrading to iOS 10.3. So I think it's been fixed, at least for some.

YEAH! I think they finally fixed it. FWIW, I think it was actually addressed in the carrier update rather that was applied after 10.3 installed. It wasn't mentioned in the official release notes for 10.3 and I'm not seeing any public release notes for carrier updates. Here's my official support thread asking for clarity.

We'll see who wants to own the drama — Intel or Apple.

fix for Intel or fix for Qualcomm phones?

What about people with skipping Qualcomms (a minority, I know) but curious

so no longer problematic at all? thats encouraging for someone on 10.1.1 7+ for next JB iteration

but its been 99% fine for me, if anything I think my SE skips more and interferes more often

Can't speak to the Qualcomm woes. But I'm now a few days out from the 10.3 / carrier update and haven't heard a single skip!

So, does this mean the Intel modem now performs the same as the Qualcomm? Would the test results be similar now I wonder? Maybe it was a carrier software issue all along?

It was basically a balancing act of either strong Bluetooth signal, or strong cellular (LTE) signal. Looks like they got it dialed in so that Bluetooth is useable again. It was very frustrating though for awhile.

I've had a very solid experience with bluetooth for several days now. The ONLY skipping I experienced was when walking through an extremely crowded student center on a busy college campus, where it's expected that there might be brief interference issues. And even then it cleared up immediately when I exited the crowd.
