Have you tried streaming from DATA and not WIFI?

Well I have a Genius appointment tonight. I'd like for them to explain how they are going to fix the issue if I agree to replace my phone (I have apple care) and the problem persists. At that point, I won't accept another replacement and will either request a full refund or they are going to need to find a way to give me a CDMA phone.
In the end, that's the best option. The easiest thing for them to do is just swap it out with another GSM phone. If you're adamant that that isn't an option and the only way you are going to walk away happy is to get a CDMA phone then they should ultimately agree. Don't be hesitant to ask for the manager or someone even higher up. That's what I had to do and it was worth it.

One thing to consider, when it comes to them returning your phone, it is actually easier for them to do so if you still have the original phone and not a replacement. When I was telling them that they could just return my phone and then I'd buy a new one they said that was fine except my phone I purchased wasn't valid anymore since it had been swapped out with a replacement. Ultimately what they had to do was do a return using my original order number that wasn't, at that time, tied to a serial number and that worked. Make sure to ask them about that. Best of luck!

Pretty sure I've used data a lot spotify and music app while driving and using Bluetooth. Why/how could I be on wifi I'm in driving? Not in a city that has anywhere near full city wifi coverage. I don't even think they have public wifi.
Surely-
I can't be the only one? The intel radio is in most iPhones worldwide since that's the gsm model. The Qualcomm is mostly US and China for cdma added support.

I won't play screen lottery or forego my jailbreak

If you stream from a music service at home while on wifi, you may not experience the issue. Or if you stream from local content (on your phone) while in the car you may not experience the issue.

For me, I experience the BT skipping while streaming from my cellular service from a music streaming service like Amazon. If I am on wifi and stream from the same music service, I do not experience any BT skipping. Or if I stream from content located on my phone.

For me it doesn't matter if it is streaming local from my phone, it will still skip at random times from what I am assuming(from past experiences) data being used. It's not unbearable, it's just super annoying.

This is great advice. Be calm and request to speak to the genius lead. They have authorization to process a refund beyond the 14 day return window.

It took me a lot of energy and 20+ hours on the phone and in store. After 2 gsm replacements and my refusal to accept a third swap, they had no choice but to give me my money back.

I bought the unlocked model immediately and haven't had one skip since picking up the A1661.

well it seems better with this latest update. though I get disconnects more often but not all the skipping.

This happens on both SE (Qualcomm) and 7+ intel for me

Random times. Mostly not an issue. Neither device is ever an issue in the car or with beats solo wireless. Just AirPods at random times. Probably buggy firmware

There are currently 45 pages over at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7675979?start=600&tstart=0. I too am having this issue and created a video to try and draw attention to it so that hopefully Apple will be convinced it is worth their time to fix it. That post was removed from the Apple Discussions site, the link to the video is here:
Please share the video on all social media using the tag #iPhoneDirtySecret

the whole thing is so strange. I had lots of skipping issues with audible and casts. I had to go to ibooks for my synced audiobooks. for the first few days it was great. no problems then it started getting worse each day.

Well, bottom line for me is that because I am leasing my phone, apple can not replace it with a CDMA version. Oh they offered to replace my MINT Jet Black iPhone 7+ with a refurb which I flat out refused. The replacement had micro scratches where mine has zero. Has had a skin and case on since day one. So that was not a solution for me since the replacement will not solve the issue. So I am stuck with my current GSM iPhone. It's frustrating but I rarely use a streaming service and I don't have the skipping issues when I am on Wifi or streaming from media on my device.

That sucks that they can't swap it out for you. At least it isn't skipping all the time for you.

When u guys have the issue, is it intermittent skipping / always skipping?

How frequently are we talking about here?

And how are you able to consistently reproduce it?

connect your device to a speaker, walk away from the device until you start to hear it skip cuz the connection is getting weaker. Thats what we are talking about, except it happens when the devices are next to each other (sometimes)

Oh wow, with serious gaps of music skipping in between? Like beginning to lose data? Not just a quick hiccup (like happened all the damn time on my 6+ I remember)

That sucks!

So, to add my own experiences to this: I live in NYC. I have a pair of Powerbeats 3 and AirPods. I was getting cutouts with the Powerbeats occasionally, but it wasn't until I got the AirPods that I was sure there was a problem.

What I have noticed: the issues seem to appear more in certain areas. Crossing streets usually triggers the sound to start cutting out. The issues become exceptionally bad walking south of 13th street, east of 2nd ave (though potentially farther west, this is just where I have walked recently and have noticed the issues). There is constant cutting out of audio, double tapping still sends a signal to the phone though, which I find strange, even when the audio is completely cut and won't reconnect until the pods are redocked.

What this leads me to believe as I think many others have, is that this is an interference issue. Reading up on it (I will be honest, haven't read this whole thread, so this might all be repetitive, apologies) it seems to be happening far more to GSM phones. I've also read that turning off LTE seems to be a temporary fix. I am hoping that this is something that can be fixed with a software update, but all signs point to this being hardware related, no?

Anyways, my main point in writing this was to share my experience, see if anyone can confirm my thoughts, and see if there is a way to move forward. While the issue is annoying, I am still loving both of my sets of headphones, I just hope that this can be fixed.

I wonder if Verizon/Qualcomm model has issues too in NYC, that has to be an insane amount of congestion

I noticed this issue since day one with my iPhone 7 Plus (A1784) with Intel LTE modem chip. From my experiences, I think the issue is closely related to the Intel LTE chip. In particular, if the LTE chip is on heavier duty, it affects Bluetooth performance more significantly.

Here are what I found from my experiences:
First, the issue is more prominent when I’m in a crowded area, or at a place where the cellular signal is weak such as a subway station. In this kind of situations, the LTE chip is on heavy duties since the chip needs to be working hard to find better signals. As a result, the on-duty LTE chip affects Bluetooth performance severely.

Second, the issue is also more prominent on the road is because that when I’m driving, the cellular station that the phone connects is constantly changing. This situation also makes the LTE chip on heavy duties, and the chip will dramatically affect Bluetooth performance. I think when I’m experiencing Bluetooth sound skipping, probably my phone is changing cellular stations.

Third, when I turned off LTE and just used 4G on AT&T. Bluetooth performs perfectly no matter the phone is connected to my car or to my wireless headphones.

From the above findings, there are no doubts that the Intel LTE chip affects iPhone 7 Bluetooth performance.

Well my BT issues are now affecting any streaming from my phone. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I can get my phone replaced by apple, but as we all know, this will not solve the problem and I really do not want a refurbished JB iPhone with micro abrasions. I know.....what's more important? That BT works or cosmetics? if a replacement solved the BT issue, I wouldn't care about cosmetics.

I just picked up a 256 GB iPhone 7 Plus JB and so far haven't had any issues with Bluetooth. It's the A1784 Intel model as that is all that's available here in Canada. However, I haven't tried streaming from Apple Music and then listening over Bluetooth. I always just listen to the music stored on my phone.
