I have been thinking

I think that would be a good move for the next speed bump of quiet update.

I think if they released that i would consider upgrading to it. I think it's beautiful.

What do you think?

I think they should have stayed with matte, instead of going all gimmicky. That's what I think.

It's what a lot of future MBP owners are hoping for (such as I)

However, it's uncertain whether or not Apple is hearing our pleas and if they will actually do that!

I believe it all depends on how well the option sells on the 17". Or how bad sales of 15" mirrors are going.

I still can´t believe Ives let such an eyesore pass taste control. He must love his own reflection.

I dont think im keene on the new displays.

well....take it back they do look nice and screens look nice but there has to be a matte option

Silly not to

Matte display option available for 15" MBP at Apple.com

Not sure if this was mentioned before but the matte display option is available today for 15" MBP on the dutch Apple site.

Edit: Apple US and UK have it now too:

  • MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display
  • MacBook Pro 15-inch Antiglare Widescreen Display [Add $50.00]

Credits to Frietsaus from Tweakers.net for noticing this first.

Apple now knows everyone doesnt like glossy. its only for the 15" MBP and will probably look like a smaller version of the matte 17" MBP so a silver bezelled screen and little perforations next to the iSight for the light sensor.

im thinking Apple will produce a matte 30" ACD with a silver bezelled screen as well?

Not showing on the American store either yet.

Same though, I don't care since I like glossy and already have a lappy.

Would love to see one though just to see it

Oh nice, a minute ago it wasn't showing.

Would one hypothesize that down the road these AG ones will have higher resale value?

Hm I wouldn't have thought that would be the case. IMO the 'glassy' looks better and fits in with the rest of the current line. Each to their own I guess.

Off topic: Is "would'nt've" a word? Can you have 2 contractions in 1?

Yeah it's on every Apple site now I guess.

Fantastic! Too bad I can't buy the 15" anymore because it doesn't have Expresscard...still, we're halfway there now (or halfway back to be precise.)

Where are all the matte "it will NEVER EVER COME BACK" people now? ;)

Wow! That's awesome!

What happened to all the naysayers who were sure that there wouldn't be anti-glare screens on the lower MBP's? :D

Now... Just add 13" and I'm game.. (Don't need a 15", I've got a 22" external..)

Come on, guys... let's not egg anyone on. We got our choices partially returned, so let's just enjoy knowing Apple finally corrected a mistake. I still don't think they should charge extra for it, but I'll take it.

This is actually an affront to all the people who bought and are now struggling to live with their glassy screens. Bad move Apple.

It may be so, but think of Apple's financial position.

The release of the antiglare displays on the 15" couldn't be better if you look at the time.

The sales of the new mid 2009 MBP's will probably have peaked by now, and will start declining. So, with the arrival of the new 15" AG MBP's, they will reboost their sales, because lots of <17" uMB(P) people (late '08/mid '09) will be wanting an AG version.

And then in September.. they'll (probably) come with the iPod refresh and SL... And later on.. perhaps.. a tablet?

Go :apple:

We are only one third back. The removable battery is also missing.

Complaining for the sake of complaining?

Just sell your machine and get a matte one, I doubt you'll take a big hit.

And no one forced you to get a glassy 15". I bought a leftover non unibody matte one last october for really cheap and couldn't be happier. But still it's good to know matte 15 inchers are there again when the time comes.
