I just recieved me 13" MBP today, Apple has two weeks to introduce matte for the 13" :(

Considering it took them nine months to introduce it for the 15", I'd say you're SOL. ;)

I think the moral of the story is to NOT be an early adopter.

Oh, and I'm NOT looking forward to all the "Should I sell my two month old mbp and buy an antiglare model?" threads that are sure to start appearing on the forums.

I am just tohying with this idea but I think I need to have my screen replaced due to a knock which has misaligned the whole bloody screen but do you think I could get them to put an antiglare screen on?

Opinions

Ok, I almost pulled the trigger sunday an a new MBP but my P-card didn't come till Monday (weekend was a tax free holiday) so now this is nice. I have a e08 MB which isn't as glossy obviously as the glossy MBP but I've never had any complaints. Mostly used at home and hardly never outdoors.

That being said which would be a better option in my case, not very much office use but occasional. Mainly at home w/o blinding lights. The glossy screen looks nice with the glass over the black border, be easy to clean. AG nice for the reflections but the sunk in screen kinda concerns me, but my MB is the same way I notice.

I compared the 17"s today at the apple store (obviously a terrible place to do it) and it gives you alot of appreciation for the AG especially with the way they have the stores lit.

So if someone has some opinions, mainly going from a MB screen to the new MBP screens, i'd love to hear them.

That's good news and bad news for me. At least Apple is listening to us. For me, i've already bought a glarebook pro unibody. It's tempting to sell this one and get an antiglare.

Are they using a silver bezel around the screen like the 17? I'd love to see someone post a picture.

The glossy screen should cost more and be the option IMO. You are adding glass after all.

Now if they'll just do an antiglare option on the 13"s, iMacs, and the cinema screens! I would have bought a cinema long ago if it wasn't glossy.

the Glossy screen is fantastic - I'm not just saying it's cool I mean it is great for photo editing and movie watching/editing. it just gets rid of that faded kind of look and gives a good true color.

I bought a MATT MacBook 15 on Tuesday afternoon...

I bought a MATTE MacBook 15 on Tuesday afternoon... still saying 20th shipment. Has anyone else had theirs shipped yet? I hope Apple can fulfil orders in a decent time frame.

...and then there are those who actually their laptops for serious work.

Sorry, I'm being a jerk, but we finally got the matte screen back so I don't see the point in debating matte vs glossy.

Could you post a picture when you get it?

New MBP 15" Matte Screen Spotted @ Apple Store

Hi guys,

I have seen the new MBP 15" matte screen on display here in Las Vegas today.
The Concierge told me it was just set up today. So I would suppose it will pops up in various Apple Store across the country.

I wish I could take some pics but haven't got a camera handy (the camera on iPhone 3G is pretty useless..lol...just IMO). It is similar to the 17" just with larger (thicker) side bezel.

At first, I must say I hate the matte screen design - it's just look awkward (again IMO only). However, I think it looks pretty decent on the 15" - possibly because of the proportion (I still like the glossy design better tho)
PLUS, the glare is all gone which is awesome especially in an APple Store environment. Although the glossy screen was supposed to have better contrast, I found the matte screen looks better when I am in Full Screen comparison in iPhoto - namely the color seems richer and have more details -possibly because of having no glare to distract.

Oh by the way, according to the staff, you can only pick up the 2.8Ghz 15" with matter screen in Apple Store, The other two configuration has to BTO online.

Mine shipped today, and I ordered it tuesday morning (i'm talking 3am morning), and mine shipped a few hours ago. However, I paid the extra 15$ cause I'm impaient, so that should be why. It said it should arive on the 18th.

Great stuff. I see you chose the 500gb 5400rpm to a 320gb 7200rpm downgrade too! At least it off-sets the cost of the anti-glare upgrade!

The top tier 15" inch MBP should have expresscard slot and 1650x1080 resolution to make it worth the difference in price. It would serve as a machine to which Apple can gauge reaction to new features and then add them down in later revisions.

We know they are lying when they said customers want glossy screens at a conference, but yet add the matte option back onto the laptop lineup.

I may be going to the apple store in Glasgow on saturday/sunday, so if their on display their, pics will arrive. Ill compare the screens in full screen images, glare, etc.
:apple:

Just got one. It's pretty great. My only complaint is that of course, it doesn't have the ExpressCard slot which I actually do use for my EVDO card but I'll suppose I'll live. I posted some pictures in the other thread, if anyone has questions, let me know.

Ordered the day they announced, didn't ship until yesterday. Not due here until *Thursday*. Something about "A slow boat from China" comes to mind.

I was told that the 15" matte wouldn't be in the stores, so I ordered one - cost me a week longer, but I did save $100 on tax/discounts.

Anyone know yet if they are using a non-gshock 7200 drive in the latest units, or if I'll have to wait for the software fix like the existing folks?
