Great move by Apple so everyone doesn't have to suffer with a MirrorBook Pro. Glass is the last thing I want my monitor covered it - sure it's easy to clean but a lot easier to crack/smudge).

On a side note - regardless of what ANY forum members tell you updates came happen at ANY time. "Will WWDC bring new MacBook Pros?" and the most popular response was "NO - the updated them in Oct and WWDC is about software". That response was given by over 45 MacRumors members that were SO sure - and they were wrong.

Matte option is awesome, paying another $50 is alright but not great.

I wish they kept the black border though. That goes well with the black keyboard and ruins the aesthetic a bit for me, so much so it might be a deal breaker

But good work Apple. You listened to mass complaints!

It'll be really interesting to see just how popular the matte screens are compared with glossy in a few months time.

I wonder if down the line like 2 years later, will 3rd party companies offer the matte replacement (like the whole top is replaced including the logo side)?

Matte option available now in Japan for 5,460 Yen (about $57, varying with the constantly changing $-Yen exchange rate, 94-95 yen/$).
Great to have the option, but I would need to see it in person first.

This makes me so happy. When the 17-inch unibody Macbook Pro was announced I said I wanted that computer, only 15 inches: built-in long-life battery and matte screen, but smaller. I never expected them to actually deliver.
