I partitioned my HD and kept ML on one and mavericks on the other. Whenever I would use ML my mac felt VERY slow. I only installed ML after erasing my HD about a month before, so it was a recent clean install. I have now deleted ML, did another clean install of mavericks, and now on DP4 it feels BETTER than new, like a lot better than new. I too have an adobe issue, but I am using CS5 and get no errors, but it still deletes values and when I am trying to work fast, this is extremely annoying :(

I found that the boot time was silly fast.. I had to check 3 times thinking that it went into safe mode haha :D

Something was wrong with your ML installation then.

Well it only started happening more recently, from the get-go ML never did run as smooth as Mavericks does from the little bit I've used it though.

I was considering doing a fresh install but I'm not quite sure how to as ML came on my MBP so I don't have access to the fresh install section from the app store version of ML.

And Mavericks is around the corner so I'll just wait till it's out.

Really? My macbook pro boots SO SLOW! I have a 5400 rpm HD but still! It is mostly slow login times, but in Lion which this one came with it was SO MUCH FASTER! Like I said, mostly login time is slow, but I have no login items so there must be something wrong if login takes 30 seconds :(

Can somebody help me with Maps?

I can't run the Maps app. It just doesn't launch.

May I ask somebody to pass me the app to see if I can replace the one I have in the Applications folder? The icon is not even the Maps app, it's just a generic App icon. It happened since the first preview.

Maybe if I install Maps by itself it will solve the problem?

That is the only gripe I am having with Maverics. DP3 didn't feel very stable, but it was totally workable. So far, DP4 is really solid, smoother.

Thank you very much Ddyracer.

I downloaded the file, but when I try to replace it in Applications, I get a message saying that Maps can't be modified or deleted because it is part of the system.

I don't know how to work around that limitation.

I wonder why Maps is the only app that I have trouble with.

Thanks again!

Gus

on my machine it seems to happen on some sites only, on youtube it does work, on macrumors it doesn't. the smart zoom is affected as well, by the way.
pinch to zoom and smart zoom are both working on youtube and macrumors for me

Thank you very much Ddyracer.

You need to sudo and remove the old maps app. Here

Just follow these steps and put maps after rm.

This is a very bad idea btw. I feel comfortable doing it only because it's not my main os.

For anyone using PHP on 10.9 you may have noticed they've updated the version to 5.4.17 which is lovely but there seems to be a bug when you try to compile any additional modules from source. It appears the phpize compile is still the old version whilst the PHP API is the new one.

To workaround this you have to recompile PHP from source. I choose to stick with 5.4.17.

This link is a good guide in how to do it :)

Hope this helps anyone stuck!

With the DP4 it stopped working the mouse gestures on finder (for moving between desktops) or safari for forward and back. For example in Safari when using these gestures stays frozen and I must close and reopen.

Anyone else? thanks in advanced

It still works, but it's disabled by default. Go to the mouse configuration panel, More Gestures, and check the first option to enable it. Now it should work in Safari again. Still doesn't work in Finder though...

thanks! but it´s enable and not working. Maybe a bug?

Tags are screwed up again in the Finder sidebar. If you uncheck every tag from the Finder preferences they still show up in the sidebar. If you drag everyone of them from the sidebar they will reappear the next time Finder starts.

Did you possibly delete your AVENIR font manually or run FontDoctor. I ran FontDoctor, it recommended the removal of that Font. After that Maps did not work. I used Font Book, and put it back in. Now it opens.

Watch your Console.app to see what error it kicks out when you try to open it.

Tags are screwed up again in the Finder sidebar. If you uncheck every tag from the Finder preferences they still show up in the sidebar. If you drag everyone of them from the sidebar they will reappear the next time Finder starts.

In finder preferences try checking the 'Recent Tabs' option in the 'Sidebar' panel, for me it seems to be reversed, where if I have it unchecked it does show recent tags but if I do check it then finder doesn't show recent tags.

I have DP4 downloaded through the App store, but it will not install with a restart.

Each time I restart, DP3 opens as usual, and I have the "1 Update Available" for DP4 in the App store. I click Download & Restart, and it automatically takes me to the restart without having to re-download but never installs.

Does anyone know what to do for this?

That got rid of the tags in the sidebar.

Noticed another bug with tags, I can't remove a tag by right-click anymore, I have to do cmd+i or right-click and select "Tags..." and then remove the tag with the backspace-key.

Fix your permissions!

For me, DP3 was fairly rock solid and DP4 introduced a number of issues. Interesting how everyone has a different problem with DP4 and how yet others feel that DP4 runs smoother than DP3. (yes, I know, beta software, but still...)

I got rid of all but one inconvenience by FIXING PERMISSIONS! TONS of "ACL found, but not expected". Use Disk Utility to verify and repair permissions.

Hope this helps.
