I've got a booting issue on anything that has an external display (HDMI) attached to it.

Both the MBP 2011 and Mini 2012, when anything is plugged into the Thunderbolt -> HDMI (the one from Apple Store) or if anything is plugged into the Mini when I boot, it just hangs on the 'grey screen with the spinning wheel' which eventually stoops spinning.

When I booted in verbose, it rants through the usual as normal, but eventually winds up with a blinking cursor (once a minute it blinks) in the top left hand corner of the external displays.

When I unplug the display on:

MBP: Boots fine. When I connect the display, works fine.

Mini: Boots fine as 2 mins later when I plug it in the TV sees the HDMI signal right away.

Looking at the console logs, I noticed that the WindowServer crashes when something is plugged in externally :-/

This is what I get:

Nice :-/ Free new bug with DP4 xD

Plus i'm having mail.app issues like everyone else...

I'm rolling back to DP3 on my dev machines

Same thing happening to me, except that's what my primary monitor is doing...really hope this gets fixed in DP5...

For me, DP3 was fairly rock solid and DP4 introduced a number of issues. Interesting how everyone has a different problem with DP4 and how yet others feel that DP4 runs smoother than DP3. (yes, I know, beta software, but still...)

I got rid of all but one inconvenience by FIXING PERMISSIONS! TONS of "ACL found, but not expected". Use Disk Utility to verify and repair permissions.

Hope this helps.

This is also a good rule of thumb even when upgrading to final versions. Also if the system runs a little slow.

Repairing permissions can often fix these small issues.

DP4 install seems to hang and not finish

1st 3 versions worked great on my iMac 2012---

I'm not sure where to go out of this how to get back or how to go uninstall ? I did a hard reset and 20 mins later same spot : (

The first 3 developer preview's worked great for me; however the DP4 install hangs each time and subsequently prevents my Mac mini from booting. I've had to restore from Time Machine backups each time.

Anyone experiencing this issue? Any ideas on how to resolve it other than waiting for DP5?

Looks like this was fixed in DP 5 thankfully. If you did a verbose log job, you'd have seen that it was the WindowServer throwing its toys out the cot.

I don't blame Apple really. Thanks to that idiot that decided to desecrate the sanctity of the Developer Portal, Apple were severely delayed, but as usual, pandered to it's faithful developers and got something out in time.

I'm starting to wonder if this was all a ploy to upgrade the portal? Have you noticed that things are ALOT fast than they were? That weird 'jerkiness' scrolling had, and that odd delay between pages etc... has now vanished.

I personally think they've had a server move rather than a hack attempt. Or shall I say, they saw someone trying to hack in and then decided it was a great excuse to upgrade the servers.

After all, thing od the dismay if Apple said 'right people, no portal for a few weeks, we have to upgrade' rather than the simpler 'we were hacked by xyz and are checking security.

The latter seems like a more likely situation as:

1) It re-enforces the fact that apple are very security conscious
2) They'd rather take the hit than let their developers take it
3) Was it even a stunt? Even PSN didn't have that much downtime due to their whole credit-card information theft debut :D

As a super-bluechip of the world, they can pretty much say anything, and we have no way of finding out what the actual truth was!

I can't run the Maps app. It just doesn't launch.

May I ask somebody to pass me the app to see if I can replace the one I have in the Applications folder? The icon is not even the Maps app, it's just a generic App icon. It happened since the first preview.

Maybe if I install Maps by itself it will solve the problem?

That is the only gripe I am having with Maverics. DP3 didn't feel very stable, but it was totally workable. So far, DP4 is really solid, smoother.

Gus

I've already posted to someone about this in another thread. Have a look through the 10.9 threads until you find one about Maps not working (on the first page of threads).
