Oh wow it really has made a difference. I've semi-retired this laptop anyway in favour of a desktop, but the speed difference is noticeable.

Still time to retire it in favour of a 13" MBA/rMBP but still- nice.

yeah mavericks breathed life into my mum's early 2008 iMac again. I think this is the modern day snow leopard update. I hope Apple continue this performance gaining trend. It really sends out a positive vibe among users, especially on this forum.

You boys just do an upgrade or clean install?

I just did a clean install of Mountain Lion a few weeks back and really don't want to have to do it again..

Would go on my MBP, 2.3ghz i5, 8gb ram, 128gb SSD.

After a few issues initially, the download speeds are maxing out my internet connection. I'm looking at 20 minutes to download the file. There doesn't seem to be an issue with the servers.

Looks like it's gonna take me a couple hours. Did my backup last night, and it's trickling in this morning. *yawn*
