With how slow this is downloading, I project it should finish by the time 10.10 comes out.

Will there be a separate update to update the GM v1 to this public release or will I have to install the public release over the top?

Nice surprise to see it as a free update. I think it's a bit of a gamble though, my 2007 Macbook Pro isn't exactly coping well with Mountain Lion :/

F'king 'ell man that would kill me...100Mbs here in the UK, sadly one of the reason why I didn't emigrate to Oz!!

yep it sucks, I travel to Europe each winter (southern hemisphere) for the summer and get the goodness of fibre internet. I return to caveman internet and the depression sets in haha. Plus I am paying three times the amount for 1.5mbit connection with a 200gb data cap.

I do prefer to live in Australia for all the other reasons though lol

NICE! I'm already running the GM but it's great that Apple threw a freebie to everyone. I'm downloading it to Archive and make my USB/DVD installer back-up media with.

you will get more performance out of mavericks compared to ML :)

I am 99% sure you will have to actually upgrade to the public release to get software updates. Since there was that minor update a couple of days ago

Oh wow it really has made a difference. I've semi-retired this laptop anyway in favour of a desktop, but the speed difference is noticeable.

Still time to retire it in favour of a 13" MBA/rMBP but still- nice.

i got it downloaded in the UK in no time, just copying it to usb now to install on my 2009 imac and 2013 macbook air :)

Copy to USB, how please?
I downloaded Mavericks and I then got a window asking me whether I wanted to install it. No option to make USB offered.
No apparent iso dmg or other file in Finder
Did I miss something?
Thanks.

Anybody experiencing issues where you click on Free Upgrade-> Install App, and nothing happens? It's not added to my Purchases either.

Can anyone confirm if you install Mavericks over Mountain Lion, does it update your iTunes? I want to keep version 11.0.5 instead of going to 11.1.1 because i hear that version is having issues right now and i still want to be able to downgrade my iDevices too(read that 11.1.1 prevents you from doing that).

Going to take me 3 hours + to download this. Love BT.
