I'm ready for when people have an issue with their 2018 MacBook and say they bought the max spec'd out $7,000 device, and then complain about it.
And not return it.

and this keyboard design has been out since ? and a majority of people had zero ***** clue until someone said "Hey, you need to be upset about this !"
"What?"
"OUTRAGE!!!" "I'm not going to buy POS laptop because keyboard...!!!"

You weren't going to buy a laptop anyway, stop kidding people.

Well, these spec bumps address some complaints (RAM, cores, keyboard noise), so that accounts for something.

I wish all models were available sans Touch Bar, though. I'm looking forward to see the other Mac updates.

The SSD is what always makes these BTO prices look nuts. It's too bad they're still so expensive. I recently bought a Samsung T5 2TB external SSD for $700 for high speed RAW photo storage and it works great. I don't always need it plugged into my MBP but by having it hanging off the side I'm preparing myself for the life of dongles I'll be living on models newer than my 2015 MBP someday.
Why would you pay that much for a 2TB SSD? Internal ones run around $300 on Amazon, get a USB-C or USB 3.0 enclosure for under $20 and for less than $400 you can have a 2TB external SSD.

What's with huge increase of price in EU??? 2799$ vs 3299€ for same specs. Unbelieveable!

What increase? Those are the same prices as for the 2017 models. Only now with much better specs..

As for the USD/EUR difference, mostly sales tax. Also customs, other warranty regulations.. It's not like this is new?

This is just stupid and hard to take seriously. For the 3 people who would actually waste money on something like this, must be nice to be that rich and not care. For everyone else, TB3 external drive with an SSD of your choosing would suffice. I used to think that it wouldn't be too long till inexpensive high capacity SSD drives would be in the mass market. I couldn't have been more wrong. We have a long way to go. Affordable computing is still stuck in the tiny storage segment with the excuse that you can store in the cloud. The cloud isn't reliable, fast enough, secure or in any way a replacement for local fast storage space. And spin drives are a step even further back toi the point of being practically unusable in today's world. My rant for the day...

Worried more about the battery life with the DDR4 instead of LPDDR3

DDR4 only comes on the high end 15" options. All the rest, and the 13" models, come with just LPDDR4.

It's a welcome change, and it's pretty much assumed that if you're buying a model at this end you're using it for workstation-type purposes where you're plugged into a power source fairly frequently, not hanging out in a coffee shop.

I do a lot of heavy video & photo editing, but i couldn’t see myself spending nearly $7,000 on a macbook pro. Especially one that may still have a defective keyboard. Having said that, I could see some professionals spending that much. It’s a write off for them and I am sure they make the $$ spent back thru their work rather quickly.

Then just buy a lower spec 15" MBP and use an external SDD. It would still be a monster machine.

Why are people still complaining about dongles? My 'pro' hard drive has usb-c. My camera has wireless tethering. My flash drive is usb-c. Even my monitors are usb-c. Keyboard and trackpad are wireless..
The market is shifting towards usb-c hard and fast.

I honestly don't mean any offense at all. But it sounds like just about everything you've bought, you bought within the last couple of years. Yes the market is shifting and I think usb-c with its universal direction is an amazing plug. But there are those of us who bought Firewire components because that was the new way the market was going to shift, then usb 3 because that's how the market was going to shift, then thunderbolt because that's how the market was going to shift.
I'm sitting here at my desk looking at a thunderbolt 2 dock not because I want to, but because I can't afford to replace every external hard drive, camera, printer, etc., etc. every time a new computer comes out with a new plug. Apple used to be smart about this... they added the new plug, but they didn't get rid of every other connection.
I've heard people use the excuse that Apple is designing for the majority of people and that if something is gone that you wanted, you're just not in the majority of what people are using their computers for. But that couldn't be further from the truth. Usb-c is a great plug but the majority of people still have a half dozen other cable types unless you're just now buying your first computer.

Are we complaining because Apple gives a select few people the OPTION to spec their machine to this price point? There's a lot to complain about, but I think we want Apple to provide options! If I had the need, I'm glad I could get 4TB of SSD storage in my portable computer. I don't have a need for that though. If they had a 128GB of RAM option, I'm glad that the people who need it could spend $20k to get one.

For the rest of us who need a Macbook Pro there are other options that will likely fit our budget for this kind of computer.

Well said.

How much did you pay for your 4TB nVME SSD, 32GB DDR4, i9 4.8GHz 6 core laptop with 4 thunderbolt ports?

Is there even a laptop that powerful on Windows?

There is a close one. The Dell XPS 15 can be configured to be similar with the same i9 6-core CPU and 32GB of RAM, but with an nVidia GPU. Instead of 4TB it has 2TB of SSD, and it has a smaller battery. Also, imo, it's uglier and cheaper feeling. For that, you pay $3400.

From what I can see, the new pricing is in line with last year's offerings. If one doesn't need a maxed out MBP, there is really no need to complain, as it is an option you don't have to engage.

No matter what Apple does, there are going to be people on here complaining about how greedy Apple is etc.

If you need a new MBP, find one that fits your current needs and budget. Not a big deal.

You do realize that someone has to pay for all the 2016/17 keyboard replacements.
This is hoe Apple does prices.
As long as you think you get free battery and keyboard replacement, others need to pay.
My last Apple MacBook purchase was 2012.
i do not itend to change that.
I do like my Apple TV and iPhone though.

Well, considering you can get 2TB of SSD storage for a little under $500 x 2 = $1000. So the maxed MBP shouldn't cost more than 3-4k.

The emphasis is on 3.2 Gbit/s though, you don't get 4 TB of storage that fast for 1000 $...

Also there's only so much space inside the MBP so the storage density on those flash chips has to be pretty high for that 4 TB total. External flash drives or larger internal SSDs can just pack in more chips of smaller capacity which will be a lot cheaper..
