Since I can't afford $10k Apple Watch Edition, this came across my mind. What if I spray painted my Sports Edition aluminum body with gold paint (don't care if it turns out matte gold, might look better to match my gold i6p).
Am I the only crazy person to think about this? Has anyone else thought about painting their new Apple Watch? If so, what color?
I'll be preordering the Sports Edition and will update this thread periodically.![]()
Not exactly how anodizing works....it's actually a chemical reaction between the metal and the acid bath which through an electrical charge actually changes the surface layer of the aluminum causing the color change.... not quite that simple but definitely not dyed.Maybe you are just crazy. Here's to the crazy ones...
As an alternative, anodized aluminium can be dyed (the surface layer of aluminium oxide absorbs and holds dye). It's how the colored iPhones are given their space grey or gold color.
And the watch is supposed to be water resistant - so it's an option.
You'll need a special dye IIRC. Probably best to stick to pale colors to minimize signs of unevenness or eventual wear

No offense but, the only thing worse than gold is Faux gold.
That's basically 99% of gold out there
Finally...someone's on-board! I'll keep this thread up-to-date.![]()
