Can you not comprehend what you read? A factory unlocked phone will not successfully sync with iTunes if it is on the AT&T network and you use another sim card.

Gevey Sim is not factory unlocking and if you had read the other posts, it allows you to sync because it is not actually affecting the phone as a factory unlock does.

Why did you get 32-bit windows if you have 8gigs of ram?

It Worked!!

Hi,

I just wanted to say that it worked for my iPhone 4!!, now it's factory unlocked, I've tested it with 2 different carriers. I tried it with my iPhone 3GS (bought it in the USA) and they sent me the E-mail that it was unlocked but it didn't actually unlocked it. After a week, I bought an iPhone 4 with Vodafone Germany, it was locked to Vodafone and they would only unlock it after the 2 year contract. So I tried the same procedure with the iPhone 4 and after 4-5 days I got the E-mail that says that the phone is now unlocked. It's been a month now since the I unlocked it. Maybe it worked because it was a Vodafone device??, although it was a Vodafone Germany device, not UK.

I guess this will bump up the resale price for when the iphone 5 comes out, so I can sell it here in Germany and go buy an unlocked iPhone 5 in the US on my next trip. We'll see.

Anyway, thanks for the tip.

Hi,

I guess it could work, only way to know for sure is to try it, the steps are described at the beginning of the thread, just make up an UK phone number.

I hope it works for you, good luck!.

Make up a number? You serious? I do not think that would work :-/

Actually ytou can do that with o2... if ur unlocked with ultrasn0w, get a pay2g sim from online or a friend from uk, insert the o2 sim in the iphone and call someone... talk for about 1 minute... After that, leave that sim in your iphone and the next day go to o2 private chat and have your iphone unlocked... of course, dont tell em its a AT&T phone n ur set... GL

Has anyone tried this and been successful?

I would like to share my experiences with trying to get another carrier to unlock my iPhone. I have been very persistent and have tried different tactics.

Vodafone UK:

Vodafone will not unlock your iPhone unless it is a Vodafone device. I have used a UK friend's /family's Vodafone Pay Monthly account details with my non-Vodafone iPhone's IMEI. They simply reply with "Not a UK Vodafone Device". I tried this about 15 times :)

I also bought a UK Pay As You Go Vodafone SIM in conjunction with a Gevey Ultra SIM, loaded it up with credit and made a few calls. This pairs the device with the SIM card. I then reapplied for the unlock and received the same negative reply.

O2 UK:

I used a friends monthly account details, went online and completed the O2 unlock form. 24hrs later I received a response saying "That my device has not been used this the phone number /account".

Therefore I purchased an O2 microsim from an O2 store, installed it with my Gevey Ultra SIM, loaded the account with £20, made a few calls to pair the device and completed the online unlock form.

£15 was debited from the balance within a few hours and a few days I received a text stating that they are unable to unlock my iPhone as it is not an O2 Device.

Via their LiveChat Service, an Agent manually submitted my request on a priority basis and was told that it will be 100% unlocked within 24 hours. I did this five times with no success.

They submitted the request to Apple but it came back as unsuccessful with the reason "Carrier Mismatch".

Therefore Apple will NOT unlock an iPhone which does not belong to that Carrier. They refunded my account with the £15 charge.

By the way, I spent 3 weeks in the UK with the Gevey Ultra SIM and it did the job nicely.

I tried T-Mobile and came across similar problems, but without refunds. Ended up selling the phone and now am using my trusty Android HTC.
