I never thought to ask the size of the gas tank, which was 11.2, but with Mazda's formula it shows you empty before 10 gallons, so I was filling the car up 2 times per week.

That's a feature of many cars these days, not just a Mazda thing (and has been a feature in some cars for over a decade)- with cars that show you a "Range" (miles to empty), they give you some wiggle room so that you don't run so low that the fuel pump is damaged. Some say the wiggle room is so that dumb people who let it run to ~0 still have plenty of time to refill before becoming stranded. Either way, it's a feature.

Can I have a link to this thread?

At this point, I believe only the beta firmware for v70.00.000 (the AA/CarPlay firmware for MZD/MazdaConnect) is out, and it's only the EU version. Some people have been ordering the parts from taobao.cn (CHINA!) but I don't think anyone has been able to enable CarPlay. When ordering from China, you risk getting a green-sticker retrofit USB/Aux/SD module which is apparently a scam. Orange sticker is what you want. Anyway we can't do anything in the US until someone leaks the v70.00.000 US firmware.

They diable the touch screen when the vehicle is moving?

Never seen that before. That's a fail to me. What's the point? Having to fiddle with that knob seems a lot more disruptive than the touch screen.

2018 CX-5 Touring owner. Hands down best car I've driven. Lacks in power may be my only complaint but still has decent pick-up. Since 1995 I've a 95 Jeep Wrangler, 98 Nissan Maxima(previous favorite), 2000 Acura TL, 2003 Nissan Sentra(SE-R Spec V), 2006 Nissan Murano, 2010 Honda Civic, 2012 Chevy Equinox, 2015 Honda CRV.

The CX-5 pretty much has most of the positives I like about each of the cars I've owned with the exception of the Wrangler. If only they could've boosted the HP to 215 at least.

Now when it comes to carplay. I get it...why people insist on having it. Technology can be a dangerous drug though. For me personally, being an Apple fanboi for the past 14 years...it's not a deal breaker. I only need my Apple ecosystem to cover my phone, tablet and Macbook. It's really the only devices where I need my non-media data to be readily availabl(documents, photos, spreadsheets, emails). When it comes to home entertainment and car entertainment I'm more open...it's a "as long as it works" scenario. Shoot...the Nvidia Shield TV I'm using as my streaming device at home is IMO...way better value than ATV 4K. So yeah...when it comes to cars priority is enjoying how the car handles and best value. The CX-5 meets my criteria and I'm glad I'm part of a small market share.

Has anyone managed to get a retrofit from their dealer for a 2015 Mazda 3 yet?

I have a 2015 3, in NE, PA and I've had no issues with rust, I've even got some paint damage with exposed metal and that hasn't rusted either.

I’ve seen no rust yet. Had some minor garage wall scape damage repaired, so I looked around there recently.

Never seen that before. That's a fail to me. What's the point? Having to fiddle with that knob seems a lot more disruptive than the touch screen.

The point is that you don’t take your eyes off the road to point your unstable finger/arm at a touch screen while driving. You occasionally glance at the screen to confirm the knob selected what you want, making it much more eyes free.

Lovely. iOS 12 hasn’t fixed Safari text editing at all. I have no highlights and no cursor here at all.
