Started to happen on my 2019 13" base with 256gb. Did a fresh install of the OS and it disappeared for about four days and then started happening again. Took it back and got a refund. Went back to using my trusted MacBook Air.

I saw this happening in my unit today just when I was adjusting the display brightness. It flashed the horizontal line pattern (exactly identical what seen in the photo in this thread first message). It lasted like as long as blink of an eye and never seen it again. I'm pretty sure this is software / driver / fw glitch. Mine is Pro 2019 2TB and person who posted the photo has 4TB model so I find it hard to believe this is a hardware failure that happens exactly the same way in those different models (these two machines have different mainboards).

I still randomly see the flicker even after installing the 10.14.6 supplemental update today. Doesnt seem to be fixed at software level so far.

Do you keep True Tone on? I keep it always on in my unit. Anyway, saw that flash only maybe three times in over 1 months time.

Yep, still happening after software update. I sure hope these are software glitches...

If it is a software issue and they fix the problem, I might buy another one.

If it is software would we not be seeing the issue on other products such as the Mini or iMac or the Air?

I just updated to 10.14.6. In the extended notes they mentioned that it resolved some graphical issues after the computer goes to sleep. I'm hoping that's a fix. I'll update here if I see it again after the update. Really hoping I don't have to return this machine, otherwise I love it.

I did the same and the graphical issues disappeared for a bit but has sadly returned.

Is there any further news anywhere regarding this?
I am planning on buying a 2019 MBP base model with 256GB HDD in the next couple of weeks but this has made me change my mind...

I managed to get a video of my issue. It is definitely physical. When I moved my lid it happened. I also noticed it happened when i tapped the laptop case earlier today. I then decided to do a video screen recording and when it happened again I checked the recording, it's not there, not OS related.

Had to move my apple store genius bar appointment to Sunday due to work but now I have video proof of my issue and with it being when the screen moves it proves something wrong physically.

Seems like software issue for some, hardware for others. My flickering issue was minor and solved by doing the fix apple outlines on their website.

I have true tone on. I have disabled it now and am not seeing these random flickers. I have to observe for longer period to be sure it is gone.

Has anybody else found that disabling true tone eliminates your flicker problem ?

I like display warm colors so I tend to keep TT always on. But I'm pretty sure the problem is related to this as the way it seems to work and how Night Shift also acts, it makes even more sense. What I mean by that is if you look at gray scale gradient patterns in toggle TT and/or NS on and off you see a lot a banding problems that often do not even fix until power off and on the machine again.

Flickers in my unit are already so rare, maybe three times in over 1 month and it never lasted longer that a blink of an eye. Also once it happened just when NS was activating and once when I slightly moved the machine and I was then under a bit different lightning.

I had bought a MacBook Pro 13" with 1TB HD and was noticing the same issues on it. I tried all the fixes Apple support suggested and still had the same issue. I ended up returning it to Best Buy and ordering a new one of the same configuration. Will see if that still has the same issues when it comes in. Very annoying that a machine of that caliber and price has that kind of issue.

I hope that they fix all of the niggling little problems in a Fall 2020 update.

Now it's happening without me even touching it....What a joke

Anybody interesting in my news?
So, apple attached me a repair number but it doesn’t wokrs I Called to the care center, and the answer was: changing logic board and..... what do you think???? Touch ID sensor!!!! Don’t know for what a have not any problem with it. Waiting for my unit .... it should be ready 29.08., but now 01.09 and it’s still not ready ...

They have to replace the touchid sensor as your machine has a T2 chip in it.

Interesting looking at your video, that’s the same same thing I noticed on my 2018 MBP which is currently getting a new logic board (and touchid sensor) fitted.

And moment about t2. As I correctly understand you even Touch ID sensor is attached to one logic board? New logic board new sensor or if new sensor - new logic board?

Please keep us in the loop on this repair. Mine seems to be happening more frequently now. Perhaps I can finally go the Genius Bar now. It was so infrequent before I was hesitant on visiting and nothing would happen when I visited. It's a hard problem to reproduce because it's so random for me.

No problem , hope the solution will be found.
Anybody from apple here ?its time to start repair company

Today was talking with ingeneer. They ordered Touch ID sensor today, and it will be delivered today evening or tomorrow and installed Immediately.

I have not much to add really. Having these issues on my wife's one day old 2019 MBP 13" 2.4 GHz, 256 GB. Just one or two flashes, seems to be noticeable only directly after booting up the computer or after sleep. Quite annoying in a small-ish way :)

I'm getting this flash on my 2017 MBP13 without Touch Bar. I'm also getting this issue occasionally...

Apple advised to boot into Safe Mode, reset PRAM and reset SMC. As it only seems to happen once a day I can't say if it's fixed or not yet.

Is this really a hardware issue? Seems like quite many are suffering from it with several generation machines. I guess we will find out as soon as someone with exactly the same problem has their unit serviced and parts replaced and then see if the problem really goes away. I'm afraid will won't see such comments...

I've seen elsewhere comments that this is something they will fix in Catalina. I dunno but makes sense that this is some sort of sw issue. Mine has always been running Safari when I've rarely seen the flashes that last about as long as a blink of an eye.
