I tried running this on my intel mac by holding the D key and every time I do it just shows internet recovery, what am I doing wrong?

Do you still need to do both delivery and pickup the same day, or can you have some extra time to hold them both?`
I mean if there was like 1-2 days, I'd be fine with that with my iPhone in case they even do that for the phones.

Yeah, I would think so too but I guess peoples are just f***ing blind these days or they accept pretty much anything with the quality brand logo on it. :D
No, she just told me to set the date of the pickup to the expected delivery date of the new MacBook so I don't have to be without a PC.
This will be Feb, 02. So lets say Apple is 1 week earlier than last time, I will have both MacBooks at home for a week.

Here's the info about the iPhone express replacement service, an option that's available if you have Applecare+. You have 10 days to return your original device. You might want to post about this in the iPhone forum if you have more questions about it.

I know that but I don’t have Applecare+ and not planning to get it. Also I’m not very keen with the idea of getting refurbished replacement for my brand new iPhone I paid full price for it. If I wanted a used phone, I would have bought one.

How do you think car insurance, home owner's insurance, and most other kinds of insurance work? What you are expecting is not realistic. The units Apple sends have a brand new battery and outer shell and are checked for any hardware problems before packaging, They can't be distinguished from new retail phones and they also come with an Apple warranty. How is it you wouldn't be made whole under that scenario? That is what AC+ and other insurance is about, is making you whole.

If I just bought brand new iPhone for a full price I will never accept used or refurbished phone as replacement.
I don’t think it is fair to expect clients to use ”insurance” to fix something that should have been good right away, assuming they do basic QC on the production line....

As an update after speaking to Apple Support then Applecare they want it back. They didn't even offer a repair.
They're picking it up tomorrow or Wednesday depending on how busy UPS are.
They offered a replacement but I've ordered a 8 core, 16GB, 512GB Air instead (in case my virtualisation hopes come to pass).
Delivery approx 3 - 10 Feb.
So back in the queue :)

Cheers, I'm happy everything worked out for you, too. You had a MacBook Pro, right? Why did you decide to take an Air?

Did they credit your Apple Store account or refund your credit card right away? Think I'll try this diagnostic today too with my new MBA. That it's happened to two MR members already is a concern.

Thanks. Yes I had a Pro but not particularly enamoured with the keyboard to be honest and am hoping that the Air is a little firmer in feel.
I'd also like to have a couple of VM's running eventually and the higher specced Air will fit that bill.

No, they'll credit my debit card when they receive it back (or after 3 to 5 days).
Yes, but it's only 2 :) (so far)

Then just a wild guess with the issue you reported if you see no problem with the device but just failed diagnostic. I would not be amazed if it was just some keyboard or OS language thing. Does all those who pass the test have US keyboard or OS language?
I could not resist and ran this diagnostics on my MBA M1 too. It came out clean without error codes (other than that ADP000 (if I recall correctly that code) which is just code for no errors found)).

So what I assumed above is not the case here then since mine is also non US keyboard.

It's awesome. I love the keyboard. I mean I have no comparison... a Ducky keyboard with mechanical switches, which can't be compared to the low Macbook keys without all the clickety clack and the keyboard of my 2011 MacBook Pro. And it feels just as good and it's easy to write with.

You will notice the lower battery life compared to the M1 pro, that's the only downside I guess.

One good thing: There is already 1 guy who tried out heat pads which are just put inside the MacBook Air and it didn't throttle within 10 minutes. And Linus vom Linus Tech Tips announced to make a video about cooling the MacBook Air to prevent throttling. :)

I don't need it now but it's good that there are ways to do it. :)

I still like my 2012 rMBP's keyboard but that's the old way and now it's the new :)
I don't think I'll be stressing mine enough for heat considerations.

Did you get your new one? I got mine today and there is no error anymore with the touchpad and everything is fine.

Glad to hear that!
I got my new MBA today, thanks. It's going well but I haven't run any hardware tests. I don't want to know this time :) unless something becomes obvious.
This time I've sprung for the 16GB/512GB that I'd like to keep, if at all possible 😁

If anyone else gets this error - make sure your wireless devices are turned off and that you unplug all devices.

This is exactly correct. I took my M1 MacBook Air to the Genius Bar so that Apple could evaluate the NDR005 and NDR006 errors I was seeing when I ran diagnostics. I wanted it fixed before my 1 year AppleCare warranty ran out. Surprisingly the Genius couldn’t get the error. He was running an Apple version of the diagnostics though so I wanted to walk through the consumer version and show him the error. Except I didn’t get the error at the Apple Store either.

We puzzled over this and then he said, “maybe you had an external trackpad connected.” I started laughing. It was so obviously the problem.

Long story short, when I got home I turned off my Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad and the diagnostic worked without an error.

Interesting but not relevant to me as it happens (but good to know).
I had no BT or wireless connections other than to the router and I always get the 006 error. I got it right from the start after returning one M1 MBA for the same error. Apple said they'd like it back to test.
As I have AC+ I didn't return this one and all has been fine despite that error.
Nevertheless, interesting :)

Could be a ground problem... Capacitive touch devices are very sensitive to poor grounding.

To confirm I just disconnected the magic mouse and ran it again. No other devices attached at all.
It still comes up with NDR005, NDR006 "there may be a problem with your trackpad" just like it's always done :)
There's nothing detectably wrong at all while using the laptop for the 8 months I've had it.

I can confirm that a Magic Mouse not turned completely off triggers the NDR005,NDR006 "There might be a problem with the touchpad" on a 2020 M1 MBP.

I just tested the diagnostics for fun and got a little worried since the MBP is just one month out of warranty. I thought about disconnecting the only USB-C cable for the display/power/keyboard/backup-hd. Still error-codes.

But off course, once I turned off the Magic Mouse the MBP got a clean sheet in Diagnostics. Tested repeatedly with mouse on/off and got consistent results.

It makes you wonder how many 2020 M1 MBP that have been replaced by Apple Care for a probable software issue with Diagnostics. Hard to discover for the Apple Techs since they probably never have a mouse paired to the "faulty" mac when they get their hands on it ?
